  1. . Maybe you could get ole wave to go teach a math class. But, I doubt he would consider coming out of retirement.
  2. You never did reply when I asked you how many games Grundy would have won if they had played Patrick County's schedule.
  3. Not looking to good for your Wave. You did not respond to my final post to you on Final Weekend / Playoffs. Interesting...
  4. Are you as annoying as Hillary and her laugh?
  5. Don't think so. Rappahannock Co is one that doesn't play a full district schedule and I think there is one more.
  6. Good Lord, poor old King & Queen another bad, bad year
  7. Good Lord, poor old King & Queen another bad, bad year
  8. Well I see that you still don't understand. I wonder what Patrick County's record would have been if they had played Grundy's schedule. Then, I also wonder what Grundy's record would have been if they had played Patrick County's schedule. So, take a look at Patrick Co's schedule and count your victories. I believe you are from Grundy, you are not going to like this, barring a major upset of Galax or GW. Hurley will probably finish No. 3. This one is going to finish in a cloud of DUST, all Top 3 teams will be pulling for a lot of upsets in the bonus points games. One other little thing, the last time I watched a high school football game (last week) they played 11 on defense. So accusing 2 DBS for a lost is not a good thing. Put the blame where it should be, on the Head Coach and his assistants for not having the defense prepared. Now this, as you stated in a previous post, makes you look Stupid.
  9. You never know, a few of these Bonus Points Games could go either way depending on who's hot or who's cold. I have Dan River (if they win tonight) with 267 pts. Union 265 pts., Richlands 244 pts. You know as well as I do that this a little bit of guess work. But if you stay at the #4 seed, your 2nd round game may be a rematch against Richlands.
  10. DUH, yes??? They play GW-Danville 4A, Magna Vista 3A, Halifax Co. 5A, Dan River 2A. Does Grundy play any teams like this.
  11. Since my math skills and possible scenarios have been questioned? I'll post this for you to look at and do a little figuring. VHSL Rankings Average (points) #3 Richlands. 26.20000 #4 Union. 25.44444 #5 Dan River. 25.22222 Richlands can pick up possibly 8 bonus points Union defeats John Battle 28 points + possible 8 bonus points Dan River defeats Altavista 30 points + possible 8 to 12 bonus points Wonder who might move up, or who might end as #5 among these 3 On VHSL Helper's point layout, let's look at this: Grundy plays 6 2A schools and 4 1A schools Martinsville plays 1 5A school, 2 4A, schools, 5 3A schools, and 2 2A (non-district) If Lee passes Grundy, Grundy (weak schedule) goes to Martinsville (strong schedule) = Ugly Game Ridgeview's win over Grundy last week was not an upset, it was a toss-up game. In our pool last week, that was our toss-up game (tie breaker). 9 out of 10 picked Ridgeview to win, the other guy picked Grundy for the upset. Said he would have won the tie-breaker if Grundy pulled the upset
  12. To VHSL Helper and Leatherhead Larry, Richlands can pick up a possible 6 or 8 bonus points from previous defeated opponents. Union can pick up a possible 8 bonus points from previous defeated opponents. Union beats John Battle, 18 points for defeating an 2A team, 2 bonus pts x 5 wins = 10 points. Richlands 6 or 8 bonus points. Union 18 pts + 10 pts = 28 points + possible 8 bonus pts = 36 points The difference might be enough, unless I added wrong. By the way, Union is #4 in 2A West not #5.
  13. Hey little Dookie, is this the same Salem team that tucked their tails and went crawling to the VHSL whining about having to go to Grundy to play a state semi-final game 1996. I bet the mamby pamby whining went something like this: please, please, please VHSL, Don't, whatever you do, please don't send us to Grundy. They'll beat us.
  14. There was a reason that I wrote that last sentence. Some of the shifting for seeds are nothing more than long shots and a luck of the dr aw. Strange things can happen. Example: What if some team had to forfeit some games or all? Might be before your time Leatherhead, but some of us older fans can recall what happen to Chilhowie several years ago.
  15. While a lot of teams have finished their regular season, there several games left which could cause some majoring shifting in playoff seeds. THE BIGGEST GAME. (Road Trip Game) #1 2A West Appomattox at #3 4A West Amherst Last week Appomattox destroyed Chatham 81-8, while Amherst beat then #1 3A West Rustburg 49-21. An Appomattox lost, a Graham win, might be enough to push Graham into the #1 seed. I can see THE G-MAN a smiling. Union at John Battle A Union win might push them past Richlands. Don't get upset Big Blue, this could be a good thing to happen if Appomattox is the #2 seed. Lee at VA High A Lee win could push them past Grundy, sending Grundy (hello weak schedule) to Martinsville. OUCH!!!! 2A. 12-16 seeds Likely to be some shifting. All hoping to avoid the trip to Appomattox. Long shots Tazewell and VA High Wins plus other teams ahead of them losing plus bonus points plus a little luck could equal a playoff seed. Hurley-Twin Valley and George Wythe-Rural Retreat Hurley and GW are big favorites to win. However, this one for the #2 seed will come down to Bonus Points from past wins. Edge to GW. Ft Chiswell-Bland and Chilhowie-Holston Ft. Chiswell and Chilhowiie are the favorites to win. Ft. Chiswell will probably pass Chilhowie. Twin Valley, Castlewood, Covington, Rural Retreat, Twin Springs L. Idle. W? L. W Remember that old George Jones song The Race is On, will the race is wild here. Castlewood will pass Twin Valley, if Covington beat 2A James River, they could pass Twin Valley and maybe Castlewood, A Twin Springs win over Rye Cove just might be enough to pass Rural Retreat. Who knows, Covington loses to James River, Rural Retreat may out bonus point them. These 5 are just to many ands, buts, what's, ifs, teens. Just to wild and crazy like the bottom seeds are every year. REMEMBER all of this depends on wins, lost, bonus points.
  16. Possible that Graham may jump past Richland with a win this week in the ratings.
  17. I am not trying to upset anyone, especially any Dog Fans. A friend of mine watched Grundy at Tazewell last week. Tazewell moved the ball against a weak Grundy defense and had a chance to win but turned the ball over. If Abingdon can Hold Richlands to 10 points(no disrespect Blue Fans), Abingdon's D should shut them down. Abingdon's offense should not have any problems scoring. Could be a very bad night for Tazewell.
  18. Well, well, A. C. Here to sign off until the playoffs, since my beloved Falcons have proved that they are Number 1 in SWVA. However, I would like to see our beloved Falcons teach those Hurley rebels a thing or to after the way they treated our young lads from Damascus. But, that's another time and place. Until the playoffs, Your Humble Servant, A. C.
  19. I have had much more things of importance to accomplish than peruse the malevolence rumblings of irreverent simpleminded debaters. I have been working on the welcoming committee for Bill and Hillary Clinton. Our beloved Abingdon has been chosen as a possible retreat for the Clinton's after the election. Now to the insults. Mr. Richlands Alum, some name, comparing Abingdon to Lee Co. Is like comparing an igloo to a castle, such an obtuse comparison. Political we have sent Statesmen to Washinton, D. C. And Richmond. People of culture and artistic appreciation are all of the time. Maybe the Tazewell Co. School Board should consolidate Richlands High and Tazewell High. You can call yourselves, The Blue Dogs. Mr. Big O at first seemed to display a smidgen of intellect until I read some of his later comments. Mr. Beamer Ball, on your suggestion as to whom Abingdon High some schedule, I have a suggestion for you and Mr. Ryan4VT. Since VPI and SU have so much trouble the Big Games, I have a suggestion for the both of you. VT should schedule the following every year so that they might be bowl eligible: Liberty, Morehead State, Austin Peay, ETSU, West Virginia State, Concord, Bluefield College, Norolk State. Forget about winning the ACC Championship, just win six and go bowling. Mr. Mountain Man, it is very obvious that you are a man of intellect, unlike these other bumpkins. Now back to preparing for Bill and Hillary. I so hope that they will pick our beloved Abingdon.
  20. Looks like the best high football is being played this year in Our beloved Washington Co. Our fine teams posted a 3 - 1 record last weekend. Holston, John Battle, and of course our beloved Falcons all won. However, we had a small stumble at The Glade. Lebanon won the Russell Co. Cow Chip Trophy. Hurley is one victory from winning The Outhouse District Trophy. Union is rolling as expected. Richlands played the 2nd and 3rd strings most of the game at Grundy while they rested most of the 1st team for this Friday. They'll need more than rest for this game when journey to our beloved Washington Co. To play our beloved Falcons. The big game in a moment, first: Ridge view at Marion I must say that our Smyth Co. Neighbors surprised me, and the rest of Washington Co., especially the good people of The Glade. The Canes may be a little better than most people expected this year. However, look for the Hurricanes to blow the Ridge View Wolves back to their strip job. I have never understood the name for this high school. In my opinion, they should have called it Strip Job High School with the nickname being The End Loaders. Maybe they should have called it Shanghi Nichols High after a good friend of Steve Curran and John Sabo. Union at Eastside: This one will be over quickly. This game could get very ugly. I thought I should start recognizing Union High, since we be in the same district and playing each other next year. We will get to show Richlands how to cage these Bears next year. John Battle at Gate City: The Blue Devils have awaken. General Stone and his Cadets know that a tough battle awaits them this Friday Night when they venture into The Devil's Den. However, look for General Stone to lead the Washington Co. Cadets to a very close victory. Va High at Lebanon: The Pioneers, winners of the Russell Co. Cow Chip Trophy, will have very, very little to celebrate after this Friday Night. The Bearcats are fired up after past Friday beat down by our beloved Falcons. Look for these Cats to claw up this bunch of leather wearers. Sorry, all Barn Dances for this weekend have been cancelled. Grundy at Tazewell: Poor, Poor Grundy. The Illegal Immigrants into our beloved Washington Co. from Bu-chan-an Co. Have their heads hanging very, very low After last week's beat down by the Richlands 2nd and 3rd stringers. (This is what happens when you play a weak schedule.). However, word on the street, is that Grundy will travel to Tazewell to kick a bunch of sleeping dogs and bring home a BIG WIIN. However, all they'll succeed in doing is awaken a very angry Bulldog. These Bulldogs will end up playing like a bunch of Pit Bulldogs and send Grundy back to Bu-chan-an Co. with their tails tucked between their legs. Remember what they say about sleeping dogs, leave them alone. NOW FOR THE GAME Richlands and Abingdon: What can I say about this game. This is the game that all football fans in SWVA have been looking forward to, as well as football fans west of Roanoke and most of the Commonwealth of Virginia (even NE TENN). They have good receivers, so do we. They have a good QB, except we have a great QB who cannot only throw the ball, but can also run the ball. They have so-so running backs, our running backs are much better. So come and watch our beloved Falcons fly away in the 4th quarter with a win and a SWD Championship. It'll be a long, long, long ride back to Richlands for The Little Blues. Matter of fact, they'll be crying the blues instead of singing the blues. Oh, better come early for this. Until next week.
  21. Wouldn't you just love to see the ACLU come to Hurley and tell those people that they CAN NOT have a pregame pray. Now that would be a ticket to really buy, better than an Alabama - Ohio State ticket.
  22. Hurley is good, but overrated. They play a very weak schedule. Playoffs, they will have to beat Galax and George Wythe. Grundy has played weak teams. Hurley and Richlands are the only teams with a winning record. Surprise: Narrows Bust: Bluefield, WV 29th in current WV Double AA Power Ratings
