  1. Lee beat a Battle team that is a shadow of the team we played in Week 2. Lebanon isn't good, but their better than teams Lee has lost to.
  2. Am I missing something? Where are the "updated" standings on the page?
  3. How have we "slipped"? Yeah, the Lebanon loss wasn't our best game, but the only other loss in the last four games was @Gate City, in a closer than the score indicated game. The two wins were against a good Chilhowie team, and @Abingdon. The Battle/Tennessee High/Richlands stretch of the year was our worst football of the season.
  4. I hate to say this, but I actually might have to disagree a bit with Mr. Robbins. I don't think the drop off is as bad as it is being portrayed. I've been watching high school football for over 30 years (I am 39 now) and I think as far as the quality of football goes, it isn't that far off where it has always been. Also, unlike 30 years ago, more teams are throwing the ball some, which I think it testament to the fact that the Quarterback play, if anything, has maybe improved. Nobody doubts that population numbers might have an impact, but when 15+ years ago, teensie-tiny schools in SWVA were trotting out rosters of 25 kids (or less) something needed to happen. If anything, more consolidation might be a good thing and benefit the schools athletic programs and budgets.
  5. Generals fan, I explained why people are doubting your team......read my post. I'm not saying you WON'T win, but you haven't really played anyone.
  6. See, I'm shocked that Lee is being picked by some, because after looking at their schedule, the only team that is decent that they have beaten, is a wounded John Battle team, PLUS, the only team they have beaten way from Jonesville is a Wise-Central team that is 1-8. Now, we all know that my Bearcats can (and have) completely cratered and fallen right on their face against Richlands, Gate City, and Lebanon, but I don't think we're getting much credit or respect, especially when we've played a far tougher schedule and beaten better opponents (Tazewell, Chilhowie, Abingdon, and Marion) than they have (J.I. Burton, Thomas Walker, Eastside, Wise-Central, Battle), plus, host the game. I think we win it 31-13, but if the Virginia High that played against Lebanon shows up, we lose 26-21.
  7. The allegedly "soft and talent deficient" Bearcats somehow spanked Marion tonight, 38-22.
  8. Not as much talent as Marion huh? Guess that talent poor Bearcat team showed something tonight. ;)
  9. And I understand that, but we're apparently seeing two different teams. We might be a lot of things, but we're not soft. Sloppy, undisciplined, inconsistent, sure, 100% agree, but your analysis is way off. Also, the officiating was terrible, absolutely terrible, worst I've seen since the 2011 VHS @ John Battle game.
  10. Again, that is your opinion. I happen to think we do and I think that if we play like we are capable of playing, we can win the game.
  11. All of that is your opinion Demondaz and you're welcome to have it, but in my opinion, you're way off base.
  12. Wheeler WAS NOT fired. That incident was later discovered to be not true and Wheeler, upset that the school immediately sided with the player, decided he has had enough, and retired.
  13. You don't know much about the school, yet felt qualified enough to make a claim that Coach Wheeler encouraged dirty play? Well I do know a lot about the program, and Coach Wheeler, and I can promise you that dirty play wasn't tolerated, nor was it coached or taught.
  14. Well that is your opinion, but along with Brown we have one of the most explosive receivers in the area in Austin Miles, who has over 500 yards receiving for the season. I think we've got more overall talent than 90% of the teams in SWVA, but focusing that talent has been the issue all year. I don't doubt for a moment that if we play like we did against Lebanon that you guys won't win, but if you get the Bearcat team that played against Abingdon or Chilhowie, we will beat you.
  15. I think they have a gameday walkthrough, but I'm not sure it qualifies as a "workout". In either case, Crist needs to get the kids FOCUSED ON FOOTBALL and less on the theatrics.
  16. Yeah but which VHS team shows up? The one that beats the hell out of Abingdon and plays awesome, or the sloppy second half team that has blown three winnable games in the second half? We're just so inconsistent, it is hard for me to be optimistic. We SHOULD beat Lee and we SHOULD beat Marion, because talent wise, I think we have more than enough weapons to beat them both, but we also should have beat the living hell out of Lebanon (true, the referring was awful and screwed us regularly), should have beaten Gate City, and the Richlands game was winnable as well. I'm just disappointed with how we've underperformed.
  17. Yeah we definitely have underperformed, which is a shame, because this team had serious potential at the beginning of the year. Lebanon stinks, but the refs didn't help much, and we should have routed them, but anyway, we don't deserve to make the playoffs, and won't, as Marion wins 27-14.
  18. As much as I would love a repeat of 2011, I don't think it's likely with us being as banged up as we are. I think the defense is good enough to not allow to get completely embarrassed, but I just wonder if a gimpy Brown and a questionable passing attack is going to be enough to keep us scoring and ultimately win the game. It hurts me to predict this, but: Tennessee High - 34 The Good Guys - 10
  19. Our paper are such a bunch of Tennessee High kiss asses. They go to South, get abused by South after they woke up, and get shut down for the rest of the game, sans one score, while South gouges them for 35 straight points, and they drop to #3 is this bullmalarkey poll they have created? Give me a break! I swear, if Tennessee High lost its next 7 games they would STILL find some way to keep them around in this "poll".
  20. No disrespect to Battle, I think Steve Wright is a great man and a very good football coach, but I think we win this one easily this year. I don't see how they will be able to contain Justin Brown and we can do a lot more this year than we could last year, plus, I think we're much deeper and Battle maybe a bit less talented on both sides of the ball. Bearcats 31 Battle 12
  21. We're only picked to beat Tazewell by 17? Either they think we're not as good as they rank us, or Tazewell must be much improved.
  22. See, there ya go. By the way, when is the Kickoff Edition of the paper?
