  1. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] To try to win a playoff game? [/ QUOTE ] You felt like that was an option? Elitism aside. Do you REALLY feel like that was on the table? [/ QUOTE ] No, I'm sure VHS knew the game was almost certainly out of reach, but if the kids don't want to give up then the coach shouldn't either. The coach should never throw in the towel before the kids- that would be one of the worst flaws possible in a coach I believe.
  2. [ QUOTE ] So what your saying is if Richlands would have kept the 1st string in all 4 quarters and the score ended up being 82-7 that would have been alright? [/ QUOTE ] Richlands would be idiots to not take out their starters, as it would be dumb to risk injuries when the game was pretty much out of reach. As far as VHS goes, I don't see what's wrong with leaving the starters in for most of the game. The majority of them are seniors and it wouldn't be right for the coaches to concede defeat in the middle of the game after all the years of work the kids put in. It wasn't a JV game, Richlands made that choice. It seems to me like there shouldn't have been a problem.

    Marcum

[ QUOTE ] My post wasnt directed at all to you Tweeder, it was directed to the VCats punk or whoever it was..Bringing up a game from 2 years ago..and saying Garon wasn't hurt..You would think it was the only game they ever won...Cheese and Whine pantywaists..lol [/ QUOTE ] Seriously, learn to read or just don't reply to my posts. I wasn't knocking on Marcum, I respect him for being a hard worker and trust he'll do what is right for him. I simply said if the injuries are that bad, football might be out of the question at this point. I even researched hip pointers and it said that a severe hip pointer should take a several weeks to recover from at the most. Maybe you people that supposedly care about him so much should consider his health, which is all I was trying to say. And no, nobody said anything about Marcum being injured after that game, so go ROFL all you want about it, because that's how it was. I didn't brag about the game or mention anything other than that either, so don't make it into some excuse to bash Virginia High. Go ahead and cut me down all you want, but I know that I'm making something out of my life. Though our paths are different, I respect Garon for doing the same, so how about you get off my a$$? As far as calling us cheese and whine pantywaists, we sure as heck didn't back down in that craphole that supposedly resembled a field that we played on that night, so don't give me that. Both teams played their hearts out and left everything on the field, there were no hard feelings between the players after the game, so leave it at that and give credit where it's due. I'm asking you for this once to actually read what I say instead of judging me based solely on my display name.

    Marcum

[ QUOTE ] i talk to Garon often and Aaron when he's not on the internet and i can get someone on the phone...lol. To be honest Garon is still hurt...he hurt his shoulder in that Va High game and never recovered and told me last week he is still not 100% from the hip pointer...might never be...but as of last week he told me he was still interested in playing and might show up at Moorehead St. with some of the Richlands crew...so..my previous statement stands...you have not seen the last of that kid on a football field...i think he will be back when the time is right for him. [/ QUOTE ] How on earth is the guy still hurt? If he has been hurt for two years now, I'd worry that going back to football would jeopardize his health. I played for Virginia High in that game and don't remember him getting injured in that game and don't remember anybody from Grundy using the excuse that Marcum was injured after the game either, so I don't understand that too well (I'm not trying to dig up old news but I'm sure it would have been mentioned). Anyway, to put in my two cents, it's not feasible for the guy to go anywhere at this point. I'm not trying to knock on him, but I watch every football game I can and I can't think of a single D1 running back who is white (not that this should be an issue either, but for some reason it just doesn't happen). Also, I had a hip pointer once when I played football and it was painful, but I got over it in about a week I think. Basically, I admit I don't know him personally or anything, but I feel like he was about on the borderline of getting an chance to play in college right out of high school. I don't see him getting much consideration at this point, and if he's not 100% healthy after two years, it seems nearly impossible. Of course, if he worked hard and maybe got some good luck, stranger things have happened.

[ QUOTE ] So you wanna use the refs, HMMM. Think about this, Tazewell scored 3 touchdowns on there 1st posseion, yea i seen the block in the back on the punt return for a td, now the other 2 long runs by Enis were clean plays. So dont give me that ref. You guys come up here thinking that after what happen to them last week you would have ur way with them and it showed that on the field!! [/ QUOTE ] Learn how to read, for the love of God. I can't stand how people come on here after a victory and just look for every which way to brag about it. He said, "look, VHS didn't deserve to win this." What does that mean to you? It means Tazewell played a better game. However, you of course go on and run your mouth about how he's only blaming the refs. All the man said was that the referee made some questionable calls, and he focused specifically ones that were brought back after the ball had been spotted. I know your fans would be upset if that happened too, because that is not the proper way to operate/officiate a football game. That is all he was saying, but you go on and talk trash like you know everything. That's the problem with these boards anyway, fifty percent of the posts are from immature high school kids. Also, please learn how to use verb tenses properly, it makes reading your posts nearly unbearable.
  6. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] what happened ? [/ QUOTE ] 11/19/2004 - Grundy lost to Virginia High in the playoffs 6-0 in OT. [/ QUOTE ] Hey, I started and played that entire game! It was definitely a great game... although the ending was rather anticlimactic.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Where are them V-High posters at today, they ran that mouth all week and now they are now where to be found!!! [/ QUOTE ] Didn't you get the memo??? Last week was the annual "Virginia High Hit-and-Run" week...it happens every year, they start "feeling it", come on here and talk crap for a few days, and then bolt. [/ QUOTE ] I didn't talk any trash, because I don't really care that much... but you all did post at 9 and 10 AM. Do you really expect Virginia High players to wake up early after having an away game in Tazewell to get on a message board?
  8. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] so i reallly think all the abing people need to stop talkin trash about us and try and win another game...!! [/ QUOTE ] heres one for you, how bout you all try and act white, cause yall sure aint black.. even though u all try with ur FUBU and your BLing Bling and your Grillz, yall are still white and are just making ur selves look like comlete idiots [/ QUOTE ] If you are trying to insult somebody, it would probably help to correctly spell "complete idiots." Also, last I checked, VHS has several black players. Anyway, congratulations on looking like a moron, being mildly racist, and overall reflecting poorly on the city of Abingdon.
  9. [ QUOTE ] Maybe you people forgot, VHS barely beat Battle the other night, one of the worst teams in VA. Come on guys, this happens every year, everyone thinks VHS's poop doesn't stink. Get over it. [/ QUOTE ] So I haven't checked this board in forever but I was reading your post and saw you say this. It made me wonder how close the game between Battle and VHS was, so I went and checked. Amazingly enough, the score was 41-12. Yeah... you're right... that's a close victory. Also, what are you talking about "this happens every year"? Has Virginia High not beat Abingdon the last two years? You just can't make a statement like that until Abingdon makes a statement on the field. I have no idea who is going to win as I haven't seen either team play this year, but those statements were a little farfetched.
  10. What does VHS have to do with any of this? Did I say "WELL THEY BEAT GRAHAM TWICE"? Certainly not, so I don't really appreciate the cheap shot. I also didn't put down Richlands in any way or say they didn't have a great season. I'm just pointing out that the posts in this thread were a bit overconfident toward Richlands winning and it didn't happen. Honestly I was routing for Richlands to win the game too. I'm glad that I make one comment and the high school I went to gets insulted. Thanks a ton.
  11. [ QUOTE ] I don't have a dog in this fight but I have to step in and say I've never read Lance putting down the VHS kids. The coach, district, record, and maybe SOME of the fans, yes, but never the kids. [/ QUOTE ] Are you saying that when somebody basically says that winning the Highlands district means nothing and football in the Highlands is a complete joke that it isn't degrading to the kids? No, he hasn't pointed out specific players and attacked them, but saying that what they have accomplished this year, winning their district, amounts to nothing is pretty offensive. This is a similar situation to Richlands not getting respect outside of Southwest Virginia, which is a topic that has come up before. If Richlands goes on to win the region, and then loses in the state semis and people from the rest of the state say, "oh look, Richlands is just a joke of a team coming from a region with no competition" would that not make the kids feel bad about what they accomplished this year? We all know that Richlands has accomplished a lot as a team so far this year and I wouldn't take that away from them. That's all I'm trying to say here.
  12. [ QUOTE ] well when the highlands win a game against the swd then come talk to us!!! lol [/ QUOTE ] I think only two years ago Tazewell went 1-9 and I know that Virginia High absolutely crushed them (they won by around 40 points I believe). So I guess I can talk to you!! LOL!!!!11 [ QUOTE ] i'm not putting anyone down...just saying...I'm going to the Graham game...and Va High goes on about how bad they are more than any losing team in the state...you guys have fun tonight, that's all i can tell you. [/ QUOTE ] First off, you weren't "just saying" what game you were going to and you know it. You blantantly took a cheap shot at the Virginia High/Richlands game, it's pretty obvious, so why deny it? Also, I would like proof in the six pages of this thread completely dedicated to thrashing Virginia High where a Virginia High player bragged about "how bad they are." As if players from other teams have never talked any trash on this board or anything...
  13. [ QUOTE ] only game in tazewell county is at graham. [/ QUOTE ] I like how you, as an administrator, someone who is supposed to uphold the rules of this board, show no class whatsoever. In this thread, you have done nothing other than blatant degrade Virginia High's kids. What do you have against the kids at Virginia High? I have not seen half as much trash talk from them on this board as I have from everyone else constantly bashing them. They get excited about winning their district and all that anybody can say is "yeah but your district sucks." That's really respectable to say to a bunch of kids who have worked hard everyday for the past four months. I know what happened to Grundy last year in the playoffs, because I played in that game. I know you think the officiating was horrible and cost Grundy the game and all that, but it's not like the Virginia High kids did anything to throw the game. We played the game of football and played hard, and you show nothing but disrespect toward a group of kids who are only trying to have fun by playing high school football. You are obviously an adult, act like one and grow up. If you can't do that and realize that the kids from Virginia High love football and go out there and play hard week in and week out just like Garon Marcum, who I mention because you always talk about how he gives it his all, and the rest of the Grundy kids, then you need to just shut up.
  14. [ QUOTE ] Wow, head and shoulders ahead of any Highlands team, now that's soomething else I tell ya. As for Lee, yes, I honestly thought they would give VHS a close game, but what else can I say, we were wrong, so...I expected Lee to perform better than they did, oh well. Game's over, season's over, and here's hoping next year brings good things. [/ QUOTE ] You basically just completely insulted your own team. I mean, we aren't glad that we don't beat the SWD teams, but at least we have separated ourselves from the rest of the Highlands. One step at a time to build a better program.
