  1. Back in '93 I watched Anthony Poindexter (future all-american safety at UVA and Baltimore Raven draft pick) quarterback Jefferson Forrest at a playoff game at Mitchell Stadium. He was the best high school player I ever saw. Graham couldn't do much with him, they defeated Graham on their way to their 2nd consecutive Division 3 state title.
  2. I would have liked to see Chris Harrison in a modern spread offense. He would have been unstoppable. He was a 6"6 200 lb TE and LB. Chris and Brad Davis had the talent, size and strength to play on Sunday, they just never made it there.
  3. He was a running back on the "89 state team, if I'm not mistaken.
  4. My Raiders prediction this week: Raiders - 31 Chiefs - 17
  5. I'll probably get laughed at for saying this, but, offensively I think Richlands is better without Howie. Too much pressure to get him the ball this season. Ball is the best receiver in 2A and Collins has been underused. If Richlands can minimize penalties and turnovers, well.................how do you like your crow prepared?
  6. He was there. One of the names that you will not see mentioned is Yancy Tabor, offensive tackle. He was a starter on the '92 state team, he was about 6'2 and maybe 200 lbs. He was one of the best pure line technicians that ever played at Richlands. Adam Yost was the other tackle and was pretty good himself. Sam Barnett was called "the best high school center" that he ever saw play, by Willis White.
  7. I found this old football pic of you. Back in your slimmer days.....then you were known as Bulldogs22
  8. BTW trueblue, I did read many of the articles. The difference is that I don't have to read their names in the paper. I was teaching most of those kids how to get in a stance before you even knew who there were. And I didn't see those kids getting taunting penalties.
  9. Well I'm glad that you don't have the red @55 over anything that I have posted before. I don't care if he or you appreciate anything, in his job you should have thick skin. I post what is on my mind, I am not trying to win a popularity contest. You being a bit over-dramatic and it shows. At some point, even high school students need to be held accountable for their actions. If not, they never get to the "teaching moment and maturing experience" as you put it. I don't find it acceptable that one individual would put himself over his team. The whole point of my initial post was at what point should he be held accountable.
  10. I will give the benefit of the doubt to you on this one tbgfan. He did talk with him after the first one and I am hoping you are right. I will ask you this, if Mance does not tolerate this foolishness, what happens next? I'm not picking, I am being straight. Should he affirm the suspension and let the young man learn from his mistakes or does he fight for his player and try to appeal the suspension? What happens if he plays in the game and costs his team again, this time a possible state championship. What happens if he plays and helps the team win? Has this young man learned his lesson? What happens to him if he doesn't and goes through life as reckless as he acted yesterday? I didn't agree with the pre-game stomp and the "come get some" chant from the Graham players. In reality, when Richlands got'em some, Graham appeared to give up hope and was taken to the woodshed. In comparing the two, in my opinion, the chant and stomp didn't hurt their team. I don't think it helped, probably ignited a fire across the field. These selfish, foolish penalties was a direct detriment to the Richlands team. After the ejection, there was way too much drama happening on the sideline and it felt to me that Richlands was behind 30 points not 7. There were some young men that stepped up that were fully vested and led the team to a victory, alongside the ballsiest and one of the best calls I have witnessed (yes, I am giving Mance props, he deserves it) Just my two cents.
  11. It was an embarrassment to the team, fans and community. The way he acted after was worse. His locker should be cleaned out and he should be sent home. There is no place on the football field for that crap.
  12. Credit where it is due, the 2 point conversation call took some nuts. Hats off to Mance on that, awesome call and yes...brilliant. That call and play will be talked about for years. I felt Richlands came out and played well and was prepared. The coaching staff at Draft made some great defensive adjustments at halftime...............It was almost enough. This week puts Richlands in unfamiliar territory as an underdog. No pressure on the Blues this week, all on Appomattox. Teams that make it to the State Finals are not "easy outs." However, I do hope Appomattox sees the Blues as one. Great win for Mance and the Blues. Will be in Salem in full support. BTW, congrats Thad Wells and Blacksburg, give'em hell next week!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Can't tell if that is Bulldogs52 or me.
  14. .......and then together....we will build that wall.....to keep his fat ass out!!!!!!!
  15. "Whatever you do in life, surround yourself with smart people who'll argue with you." - John Wooden Together we would make Tazewell great again!!!!!!!!
  16. I'm not debating at this point, just seeing how late you will stay up! Apparently being "right" so much makes you lose sleep.
  17. The pattern persists............
  18. Keep telling yourself you are right. I hope it makes you sleep better.
  19. First of all, before you try to twist my post(s) and label me a bigot or racist, which I AM NOT, the right side won. The Nazis with Hitler were close to world domination and the extermination of Jews. Hitler was the aggressor and those were his goals. The Southern states were defending state's rights, they were not trying to dominate the world or exterminate a specific race of people. Germany had the means to accomplish their goals, the Confederacy did not. By that, I am talking about their industrial advantages. The Confederacy had no advantages, with the exception of Robert E. Lee, who was defending his home. I hope you are not going to compare Jefferson Davis or Robert E. Lee to Adolph Hitler.
  20. You seem to have a knack for being "right." I am starting to see a pattern here. You have to be a progressive....I am right, all who disagree are wrong!! Your comment comparing the Confederacy to Nazis is ridiculous. Plenty of Confederate dead in local cemeteries that died as Americans. Most confederate soldiers were too poor to own slaves.
  21. Probably a reference to the editorial written by Bobby May in 2008 where he made some remarks about Obama. River Rat is correct, they are mocking "the deplorables."
  22. I agree for the most part. If, Graham and Richlands meet in the third, I think the winner will be in the finals. However, assuming both teams make it to the second round, Graham will more than likely face a very dangerous Martinsville team. I think Glenvar will be making a trip to Richlands (not rooting for them, just saying.) I think Glenvar is just good enough to give Richlands problems. Traditionally they have big linemen and can pound the football. Right now I think Graham is THE most dangerous team in the playoffs. Richlands needs to get hot and stay hot.
