that is a ridiculous post. grundy scored on the last play of the game when not a single starter was in the game. i agree that richlands has not played a team like the gmen yet but the richlands d is fine. i know its been against weaker teams but they have only given up 20 points. in my opinion two flukes at gate city and another against ouur third string at grundy

sorry left marion out because i was just stating that they had played three good teams. should be a great game. i hope so. not being boastful but i sort of get bored watching these blowout every week.. they are fun to watch when big plays happen but in the second half it just dies. looking for an exciting game.

you know we all (gmen fans, richlands fans which i am, tazwell fans, carrol county fans, and so on) get on here to have a good time reading and responding to other peoples posts. We are just great fans that love our teams and will defend them in every aspect of the game. this is high school football (in my opinion the best sport to watch in the world. I love it. In all reality none of us know exactly how this game is going to turn out. everyone knows that all it takes is some sort of turnover or unexpected play to change a game like this. I could go from close to a blow out in just a few plays. we all know that. I have not seen the gmen play, so have no opinion on them other than they have played some good teams, but they have loss to two out of the three. Richlands has played some weak teams, no doubt about it, but they have played the team on the schedule and have wore them out as expected. as a richalnds fan, i do believe they are the better team and will pull it out friday night. blow out or close nobody knows. a win is all i want. Lets all have fun though at this game we love to watch and play. also to the gmen fans and posters there is no need in thinking that the players and coaches are overlooking you, for the the last five years that i have been watching the blues play i cannot think of a time were they overlooked a team and came in with the bighead. the coaches will have the ready to play.

i have no problem with the coaching staff leaving the first team in as lomg as they did. to me it is not fair for the seniors to have to come out halfway through the game just because the wear someone out. They could have taken the first team out at 33-0 with 10:00 minutes. wouldnt have made a difference. Let them play a little up to 4th quarter or so. the teams that richlands are playing it appears that the first two games and the next two games could end up the same way. it isnt fair for them to have to come out the first 4 games right after the first half

Tazewell may very well score. but they are not going to put up 28 points. This game may even be close but if it is it will be a low scoring game.

my opinion is this I still believe richlands would have put up at least 20 of those 30 points. of those three big punt returns, Graham punted twice with their punter in the endzone. The worse field position RHS would have had would have been around the 45 yard line both times. the third punt came deep in their own territory also so the worst it probably would have been would be around the 50. That still is a shorter field to work with. Chances are good that Richlands could have drove down the field and scored. Nobody really knows that for sure. Graham only had three first downs i believe and 44 yards of offense. There was just know you are going to score with that. If richlands would not have scored those three times from the 50 yard line. They would have just punted it back into their territory and Richlands would have stopped them again. and graham would still be in the same place. As good as Richlands defense is other teams hardly ever have it across the 50 yard line. So the field position is always great no matter how the special teams do. But it sure is nice to have them be so good Also CJ Arms in my opinion has been booting the ball really well to. He kicks it so high and deep the other teams returns to do have a chance to set up a return. CJ is another great weapon for the blues

If you take the teams Richlands and Graham haved played thusfar this is what you get points so far Gate City 12 for win + 4 for thier wins = 16 Honaker 12 points for win = 6 for thier wins = 18 Martinsville 16 for win 2 for thier wins = 18 Blacksburg 16 for win 0 for their wins = 16 Same amount of points Another thing is because of these four schools upcoming opponents i would dare to say that Gate City and Honaker will give Richlands more points with wins than will blacksburg and martinsville for Graham. So you really cannot argue the points are less Richlands by playing these schools because it just is not the case because they win helping richlands out. Dropping lee and picking Honaker will only give richlands more points because you only received points for beating lee because they never won. Now this does not mean that martinsville and blacksburg could or couldn't beat Gate City and Honaker. That is something we will never know because they do not play. Both Graham and Richlands both play and have played well against the teams set before them, that is unquestionable. Who really cares anyway, because what and exciting game it will be Friday night. Riclands lost by around 20 points. Second half kill us. We were up at halftime by 2 points. Lost some ground and go down by 6 or 8 points. Coach Rife then took out all five starters and put in the subs, not a shot against the subs. He also put in a two players that had not played any all year long. The score was then extended up to around 20 points. It was like coach Rife wanted to lose. Very heartbraking for the players who want to win so bad and not given the chance to do so. Just awful. I know some of the fans just quit watching when he did that. He kept them out for awhile and it was not because they were playing bad. Just sad in my opinion.

Richlands has potential to be a better basketball team than they showed last night against haysi. Besides haysi, is a really good team,undefeated beating opponents by average of probably 30 points. Lost last year both times to them by 20 or more and they returned all thier players. The team has only had three or four practices together, five of them played football. They have not got their legs under them. They will start hitting their shots. One thing wrong is the offense that we run. we will never score over 50 points this year unless we try something different. Coach Rife is satisfied with not losing bad. He tries for some odd reason to keep it a 40-30 game. Last night we had the ball for nearly 3 minutes at the top of the key. One of them shot it and he jumped all over them. It has been the same thing for the last three years that i have been watching. No inside game at all. They have the players inside but are unable to get it to them because of the offense they run. Coach Rife has never used his big men the years I have been watching. Do not plan on it this year either. We will have to rely on the three unless he comes up with something else. Hopefully they will start to fall. An offense that never sets screens at all. Might not have the best players but coaching is not helping either. Just my opinion. #12 lit it up at Hurley, great pure shooter, hit first one but then could not hit nothing against haysi as well as the rest of the team. Just a bad night against a good team. As for #14, ridicoulus comment about being a star. No one on this team considers themselves a star. He is just doing what is has been asked to do, trying to lead a team with no true leader. Playing point is something he has never done. he is also filling the shoes of a good floor leader in timmy brown. Alot expected of him. He will come around, a really good player trying to make things happen, as well as the rest of the team. Last night was just a bad night for him and the rest of the team. Coach Rife expects 15 points or more from him a night. Do not count us out yet,just because of one game that you went to. We beat a hurley team, in which we played three bad quarters by 11 points, and Hurley beat Grundy last night by 24 points. What a fan you are. Just stay home if you are going to make comments like that after 2 games into the season. Just be patient and optimistic man.

to actually talk about the game. our blues won the game and played in sperts. and good in the 4th. but the click was not there.had pretty good shot choice just was not hitting and need to work on using the inside and running game a little. it showed that they had only a few practices together practices due to football. have a tough week next week try to get all basketball legs under them 4 games next week ansd 5 in 7 days very tough with little practice but it will all come together. hurly you played a a good game just did not finish. have some great kids on the floor and athlets i agree i would use some kids in some different places but they have some talent

Sorry about the post about your sports program. Had a great year in football and basketball seems to be doing very well. Great game last night. Jut a little upset about the post someone made about Richlands being drunk and everything. Also I was in the gym after the game when all the commotion was going on outside. We went to the gym doors and looked out and I seen with my own two eyes Hurley fans young and old along the outside yelling at some of our fans. During the game some older woman, not sure who it was, came over and got about an inch from one of the Rife's Raiders, and yelled at him. He said nothing and she walked away. A little while later is when the cops showed up. After the game the parents of the RHS players wallked their kids to the bus because of some Hurley fans were yelling things at them, not obscene things just yelling at them. Uncalled for in my opinion. Yell all you want drring the game but once you step off the court. It should be over. Just My opinion. Even one of your own posted that half of Richlands would not be in this world were it not for the police and that we were scared to fight after the game. Seems to me there were some that came after our guys. Its all over now until Dec 28. Good Luck until then.. Should be a good game.

Just a bunch of bull crap. Our student fans were roudy as ever. You not what i'm talking about if you've been to any games basketball, volleyball, football. Hurley fans did not like it so they come to our side, call the cops, which the cops did not have to do anything. Our guys were not drunk though they may say they were. After the game they try to come after us, players, fans, everyone. Our guys are smart enough to get a=in their cars and leave before any fighting begins. A lot of nonsense from a team that lost because of some really good fans.

They do have common sense they did not come to fight. Niether should you all. They come to have fun and cheer on their team. I do not blame them for not fighting that just causes trouble. Thats not why we were there. Can't say the same for you all though

I do not care who the hack it was. I do believe our fans were on ourside. Then you all had to come on ourside. When our guys went out at halftime your assitant coach told some of you fans or players not sure which to sit were our fans were. and if my memory is still with me i pretty sure your fans were so loud when our cheerleaders where on the court you could not even hear them. You do not see us crying about the whole thing. Hopefully you all will get a sports program worth anything and get some fan support like the blues

A fan is not one that sits on the behind and cheers only when a basket is scored or boos when a ref makes a bad call. That is a poor fan. A fan is a Rife Raider that cheers for their team and yells and hollars until they can't anymore. That is a real fan and it seems that nobody other than tazwell fans really have any good fans. Richlands was doing nothing wrong. Was staying on their side of the court until some lady had to come over to our side and jump on some of our guys and get up into some of our older fans faces then call the cops. I do believe if some of our guys were drunk they would be going home in cop cars. Then our players and younger fans had to be escorted out of the gym because Hurley rejects were standing outside screaming at our players and fans. Then we were cheering because we one outside at our cars and they made the cops come outside and watch us. Still not doing anything wrong. That's ridiculous. lets have fun.

I believe RHS 47 HHS 36. Go blue. From what i heard though that the Rife's Raiders got into some trouble. Police were called by Hurley Fans. RHS doing nothing wrong, no cursing, no obscence gestures just being themselves, but some reject hurley fans did not like it and called the cops.

to not think that this subject would not come up after both teams won last Friday you would have to be crazy. I believe FFE was trying to make for a good story just like every reporter does. Do not think they should have asked a player about it but that's all right. I always watch FFE but expecially last FRi to see what they said about it. I knew they would and probably everyone else knew it would be brought up. The things that went on will alway be two sided. Salem fans are going to have their stories some worse than others and Richlands will always have thier stories of the whole situation. Both teams fans will always stand behind their players, coaches and town. That makes a good fan. Hey JuiceDawg Richlands did not lose all five starters. The only two people that started every game for Richlands last year was Timmy, Brandon. Brian Tegeler never started and hardly played until the end of the year, and Taylor did not start every game and niether did Matt. Coach Rife switched it up quite a bit last year with the starting between Stephen Pruitt, Brandon Robinson, Craig Robinson, and Derrick Hamilton. These players are returning with experience. May not be the most talented but talented enought that i would take them on my team anyday. Not to mention the two JV players coming up expecially Rob Staton which will extend their bench. I believe the district is up in the air this year, but I would not forget about Richlands if I were you. Who knows how it will all end up. Could be just like football. Richlands predicted to end up third in district ended up going undefeated 4-0. Better than people thought.

Pretty sure game is Fri at 7:30. someone said they heard ms webb talking with Coach Mance when he wanted the game to be played. He said not Friday at 1:30 and diffently not Saturday. So that leaves Friday at 7:30. Hope so.

What was so different about Lebanons gameplan. Was it the way you run the ball, that you didnt run it and passed it, let me know. According to the stats Lebanon Run the ball 33 times for 30 yards. That is not to good. I would not run the ball either if I was going to average less than a yard per carry. 33 times is alot. Lebanon pass only 12 times less than they passed against GW. They passed the ball 13 times with 11 receptions. They ran the ball 47 times 14 more times than against Richlands. I would blame this on only getting three first downs the whole time. Lebanon did not getting many plays because they hardly had the ball more than 3 downs. according to the stats your play calling when coming to wither to run or not was the same. The execution just was not there because of Richlands defense. Same with Richland's offense (which did move the ball somewhat cain had 140+ yards halfway through the 3rd quarter until is outburst just could not score) Lebanon has a great defense they was not averaging less than 10 points per game to their opponents because their defense was weak. I agree both teams has stuff to work on but I would say that every team in the state is saying the same exact thing. They need to work on somethings. (With the exception of Gretna)

Richlands does know what is ahead of them. But the thing about the Richlands players and coaches is that they do not worry about what is ahead of them. They only worry about their next opponent. They work on beating that team, which has worked all year long after Gate City. Yes, they have beat smaller enrollment schools, but very good quality teams. It is going to be different ball game after Region IV but Richlands has always found a way to win even if the Offense is flat. Another thing Richlands runs their best offense out of the shotgun and for some reason hardly ever run it until the second half. The first half they mostly line up in the I and run and pass a little. The second they go in shotgun and go wide open and if i'm not mistaken. Lebanon could not stop it in the second half either. Richlands knows what's ahead just not worried And you talk like just because these teams have smaller enrollment that we should just destroy these teams. Yes we finally put these teams away in the second half, but none of them were ever winning except Grahm 3-0 at the half. then none of the games were within 2 touchdowns. According to your beliefs Richlands should have beat these smaller schools like Grahm 45-7, Tazwell 53-10, Va High 58-3, and Lebanon 64-0. These teams are better than that.

CC beat grahm . Magna Vista beat Patrick Co and Tunstall Lost to bassett. If Im not mistaken that wraps it up with CC seeded #3 and Magna Vista #4. Tunstall had to win out and CC had to beat Grahm to be #3. Looks like Richlands Plays Magna Vista again. But they come to Richlands this year.
