  1. Bluefield 35, Gate City 14 0:48 left in the second quarter DJ Edwards with the 9 yd TD run.
  2. Bluefield 28, Gate City 14 3:00 left in the half. Bowen to Collier for GC, 22yd TD pass. Bluefield better get with it...
  3. Pop Warner football is apparently full of passive-aggressive coaches wanting to make these kids into something they apparently weren't able to be. Sort of like the kid they featured on ESPN, who was taught to lead with his helmet on tackles. He's paralyzed now. Kid objected in practice, was told to stop whining.
  4. Bluefield 28 Gate City 7 6:37 left in the 2nd quarter Brandon Lilly 51 yd TD pass reception from Edwards This is getting good already. Over/under, will Bluefield score 50?
  5. Screaming Brock is an embarrassment to be calling a football game. GC ran a fake punt. His call "They got the first down!!! Matter of fact....they....they got the touchdown!" He then questioned if a punter could throw a ball on a fake punt. Holding call on the play, and Screaming Brock said they'd mark it back 5 yards. Seriously, is there ANYBODY here that doesn't know that it's a 10 yard penalty? And now...they are talking about how they don't know the HS rules. These guys are a TOTAL embarrassment.
  6. Maxi? Gotta admit, you are one special kid. (for varying definitions of "special")
  7. Bluefield 21 Gate City 7 about 3 minutes left in the first quarter. Missed it, think GC's touchdown was on the opening kickoff. Limiting my time listening due to Screaming Brock and Joe. Joe just called a 5'7" 183lb kid a "big ol' hoss". Seriously, Joe?
  8. SCREAMIN' Brock Matthews!!! I actually said something on the station's FB page to Brock about it, when he posted there. Asked him to please stop screaming every time someone runs 5 yards, or a receiver is open. The absolute opposite to Jim Nelson. Nelson was always intelligent, knew every player's name and number, would always get the numbers right, would always get the down and distance right, and was able to frequently give down, distance, and time left, and made it seem effortless. Never needed to raise his voice much. Stumbled onto a Princeton broadcast, and it sounded like Nelson has been moved back to just the color commentator position.
  9. Heard it's a final! Congrats G-Men!!
  10. I didn't think it would, either, but it's currently 61-35, and Bluefield has allowed two "junk" touchdowns with the reserves in. Bluefield's offense has been on fire, already at 400+ yards rushing.
  11. Well, I hope they don't go to coach #5 in 5 years, as a rotating door isn't going to help. Guessing there may be a few bad years before it gets better down there.
  12. Bluefield 61, Charlotte Latin 28. The scrubs are in for Bluefield now. And they're scoring. Extra point no good, went for two after two penalties.
  13. Bluefield 55, Charlotte Latin 21, 3rd quarter Montel Leggett 82 yd TD run. This has turned into a total butt-whipping. (edit, missed PAT, score is 55, not 56)
  14. Bluefield 49, Charlotte Latin 21, 9:14 left in the 3rd quarter
  15. Bluefield 42, Charlotte Latin 21, 16 seconds left in the half.
  16. Bluefield 35-21, 3:18 left in the half. Johnny David with the sweep for the TD.
  17. Bluefield 28, Latin 21, 4:31 left in the first half. So far, Bluefield's pass defense has sounded really good. Gave up the TD on what Screaming Brock called the Statue of Liberty plan.
  18. Bluefield 28, Latin 14, not even halfway through the second quarter. This was due to the second interception by Bluefield.
  19. Bluefield 21 Charlotte Latin 14, end of the first quarter. Gonna be a shootout.
  20. Bluefield 7 Charlotte Latin 7. 7:14 left in the first. Latin was about to score, and was intercepted in the endzone by Justin Carter, then Bluefield drove the field to score.
  21. Charlotte Latin 7 Bluefield 0, 13 seconds into the game, 92 yard kickoff return for a TD. Horrible kickoff team, no wonder they onside kick so often. Better to give it up at midfield over giving up a TD.
  22. Never understood it in Virginia, it has always seemed overly complicated. In WV it is simple. No districts, no regions, no sections, none of that factors into anything. Playoffs are determined by ratings points. No divsion or region or section winners. How about splitting Virginia into the 6 letters (A, AA, up to 6A), and let each group fight it out? And, does the state need 6 letter divisions? Would 5 work? That would displace a lot of traditional rivals, but it's worth a thought.
  23. Doubt anything will be done. That station, and series of stations, is horrible. I try to listen to the AM station, 1440, and they have large periods (like 10 minutes+) of dead air, forget to run commercials, forget to switch feeds, you name it. I have called before when one of their stations was in an extended period (several hours) of dead air, got a receptionist, who had no idea. Adventure Radio is a truckload of clowns.
  24. Those are some big schools. Parkview is 2707 kids in 9-12, Grayson is 2557. My daughter lives in that district, her school is "only" 2503 kids. Some good football down there. I'd love to see some of the local teams play teams down there, but I expect it would not end well for the kids up here
  25. That's pretty amazing. No idea how that compares to other coaches, past and present, in the area.
