1. that might know, Westside is from what i can tell unoffically at the 17th spot with a 4-4 ranking what is the chance of them making a playoff appearance still yet with the likes of Summers Co. and Sissonville on there skd.? i dont think WS is gonna make any noise in the playoffs and would be totally shocked if they get past the first rd. should they make it. however is there a chance that they could make it and if so about how high the ladder could they go and who would they have the greatest chance of playing?
2. craziest thing happened today when WVU was down 17-0 going into halftime, i told my family they'd come back and win in OT, they laughed at me, when WVU came back and it was 24-14 they asked me how i figured WVU would come back and i told them cause the game was going just like it did on my NCAA College Football game that i played the previous night i left the computer play and no joke at half Louisville was up 21-0 at halftime and only score a field goal in the seoncd half and went to 2 OT's i was freaking out when watching the game today, thought no way this can be happening...lol crazy stuff folks, crazy stuff!! btw the ending in the game i let the computer play WVU 32-Louisville 24
3. the Renegades did what i said they wouldnt be able to do and that was go in to a hostile enviroment in New Richmond to face county foe, the Wyoming East Warriors. Westside would prove all the doubters for them wrong winning 34-22, however that is not the tale of this story, for outside of winning the game there is someone who stands out to both Westside and Wyo. East fans for his performance in the game and that was no other than Westside's WR/DB Shawn Clark. as was said by C-92 broadcasters and many fans in attendance Shawn Clark by all rights should be named WV POTW Shawn's performance would start in the first qt. and would end in the last Shawn started out the scoring for the game with a 60-65 yd TD run, only to go into the seoncd qt. and right before halftime when it looked like Wyo. East was gonna drive into the endzone and score and tie the game, Shawn intercepts the ball and runs it all the way to the other endzone of the field for a 100 yrd interception TD return, only to have an 85 yrd TD pass catch in the end zone and another interception in the 4th qt. all of this and as the announcer for C92 said a good performance on defence should give this kid the Play of the Week award in WV, in a state where it seems like we hear a lot of kids running the ball for big yardage or QB's getting high numbers for themselves, a game such as Shawn Clark had is seldom herd, just an impressive night for this Senior from Westside! Westisde is now 4-0 against Wyo. East in football and continue to bring the ol' no. 4 Coal Shovel back to Westside as for the rest here is the words fro the unoffical Westside website reporter Carl Cox "Westside took the early lead with the end-around by Shawn Clark and converted the PAT for a 8-0 lead at approx. the 5:50 mark of the first period. The Warriors came right back and pushed in a TD and also converted the PAT and the score was tied 8-8 at the completion of the first quarter. The Renegades struck again with a long TD pass from QB James Krall to End Chris Blankenship, who made a outstanding one handed grab for the score. The PAT failed and the Renegades led 14-8. Wyoming East was able to move the ball most of the night but the Renegade defense would stiffin the closer they got to the end zone. The old bend but don't break defense. The Warriors were knocking on the door again with about 20 seconds to go in the second period when Shawn Clark Intercepted a pass on the goal line and took it the distance to increase the Renegades lead to 20-8. The PAT failed again. This was a HUGE play. The score could have easily been tied or WE could have gone into halftime ahead. A HUGE turnaround. James Krall connected with Shawn in the third period for his second TD pass, a 63 yard bomb, to up the lead to 26-8 with the PAT good this time the score was 28-8. Wyoming East did not quit and came back to score another TD to bring the score to 28-14. The PAT was not good. The Renegades couldn't move the ball and punted. Wyoming East, once again, drove down the field but was stopped again by a Interception by Shawn at about the Renegade 20. Justin Sizemore ran it in from the 16 for the final Renegade score in the fourth period to up the lead to 34-14. Once again the Warriors moved the ball down the field and took it in with a little more than a minute to go in the game. The PAT was good and the score was 34-22. East tried a on-side kick that failed and the Renegades were able to run out the clock. A Big, Big win for the Renegades. At 4-4 and with 3 wins in a row under their belts, the playoff's are still on the minds of the Renegades. True they need some help for other schools and they have to win their two remaining games but like I have said before, stranger things have happened. Congratulations Renegades now it's on to Senior Night next friday night vs Summers County." if you note i said 85 yrd TD pass, Carl says it was a 60 something pass, i'm just going by what the radio said, so take it for what its worth! either way good win for Westside, now if some other chips could fall right for us, playoffs could still be a strong possobility best of luck next week WS!!!
4. yeah i agree with you fellas i've been counting down the day since back in March!!! high school basketball, there is nothing else like it IMO
5. yeah, Weir actually is one of the few teams in all of WV sports that could do the triple crown (as bad as i hate to admit it) i think Woodrow, Weir, and Central all have the chance at doing the triple crown, but doing it will be another thing as BR pointed out Weir got a transfer from an Ohio school who is rumored to be an all around good baller, supposedly he can post up and play down low, he can drive, and when given the chance can shoot from behind the arc as i'm sure the weir fan on here could probably give more details on him, as he is the one that is hyping up this kid, but if the hype is true, Weir could be a legit contender come March and i really do look for Bluefield to be among the two 3 teams in AA all season long...in fact i look for them to be a main stay as everyone else will be flexable through the season... i look forward to the Coal Classic when the possible chance of Westside and Bluefield match could take place!!! IMO will at least let us Renegades see where we measure up and another good possible matchup will be between Wyo. East/Blfd in the Coal Classic, either way should be some good match ups there... shame we dont have another decent team in the AA field, as whoever gets to play Pikeview (whether its WS, WE, or Blfd) they will probably waltz right through them!!
6. this is sad to hear, reall is Joe B. is a highly consider man in my parts (Oceana) his father was very highly reguarded in our parts, lots of folks thought that there was no other coach like Coach John B. we had a big ceremony for him at the old Oceana field when he died for him and actually there was rumors at one time that WS's football field would be named after John, but those idea's got scratched MV has a good coach staff IMO with the addition of John Harris, coach Harris use to live back here in WV and teach and coach at Oceana H.S. when it was around, when WS was formed, Coach Harris headed out to MV to coach with Joe B and his father and the other coaches at MV coach Harris is deeply missed here in our area, at least by the Oceana folks anyways i would love to see him back in WV helping coach our football and basketball teams i became real close with Coach Harris through football and basketball, set with him a many a times on trips back from the ball games and had a many good conversations, just a great to talk with i wish Joe the best of luck in getting his life together and getting things turned around and here's hoping MV the best of luck for the rest of the season!
7. you held Westside's RB to 40 yrds or whatever it was you said, because in the first half you guys decided to put on one to many hits after the play went dead and broke the kids ankle, had our RB got to play the whole game he'd got more yrds than he did and i would go as far as to say that WS would have one with him in the game too Indy gets no respect because they flat out are no good there first win came against Westside, that's sad, that's not only sad, that's bad i actually believe Indy will lose to Liberty ® and WE thus not making the top anything...
8. well its almost that time of yr folks when the pigskin gets put away and the round ball comes to life again, even more proof is the fact of NBA pre games already taking place and the season itself starting Tuesday Nov. 1st so with all this i've been getting excited and thinking about who i thinks gonna be the top teams and all to beat this season so here they are... 1. Logan - just as like with Winfield last season, they are the top dawg until someone proves them beatable (which btw we all know they are) they return a good nucleous and could be dangerous from behind the arc this season, will be interesting to see what happens in Logan Co. this season, one big factor for Logan, no Lou Green, the big question surrounding everyone is who will be taking Lou's place as a pressence on the court, as i said will be interesting to see 2. Bluefield - to me Bluefield proved a lot in the summer leagues, now if they will be able to bring what they did in the summer league to the season, Bluefield could be back in the championship hunt 3. Westside - bring back a lot of talent from there runner up team but lost a few talents as well, but i believe WS will be ok, there biggest threat right now is Wyo. East in the sectional game, they get by them and i think they will do good 4. Weir - i think they bring back a good number of players from last yrs team to make some noise 5. R'wood 6. Tolsia 7. WE 8. Poca 9. MV 10. Scott well those are my early preseason picks for the top 10 should be an interesting season for sure!
9. [ QUOTE ] Westside 16 Iaeger 12 Liberty-Raleigh 20 Sherman 18 Scott 14 Logan 12 Mount View 32 Tolsia 28 Shady Spring 7 Oak Hill 6 [/ QUOTE ] here is my call on the games from the quote i personally believe Oak Hill will beat Shady i will admit i've not seen Oak Hill, however i have seen Shady, i just cant picture Oak Hill being worst than them... honestly who has Tolsia played this yr? i've not heard anything about them in football...and for that i dont look for them to give MV much of a challenge, i personally look for MV to score big on Tolsia i also look for Scott to get back into shape this week against Logan, two close calls in two weeks, maybe it will wake the skyhawks up! according to the Sherman folks, they dont have anything this yr, so i dont look for this game to be close either, i look for Liberty to take the win and to win big as for Westside/Iaeger, i'll be honest with you folks, WS's offence (if we can say they had any) ran through Corey Morgan, the running back that got injured last week against Indy, unless some sorta miracle took place with in this weeks practice, it wouldnt surprise me if they lost to Iaeger this week either! there was a lot of hype about this WS team coming into the season, everyone (including yours truly) thought they would be as special as the bunch that went to the Semis a few yrs back, but i guess as the guy from the Logan station (101.9fm) said at the beginning of the season, WS over achieved last season, at first i didnt agree with that statement, but now i'm being to think this guy was on to something... if WS loses against Iaeger, i will not look for them to win no more than 1-2 games the rest of the season (and that would be against Sissonville and Pikeview) as i said before not a good time to be a renegade football fan
10. i hate to be the one to say i told ya so, but i told ya so but not only did WS lose to Indy, but of any chances at a playoff birth they lost tonight too, as well as there offencive (if they had any to begin with??) anyways WS's halfback Corey Morgan got seriously injured in the 1st qt, got took out of the game and rushed to RGH, Corey dislocated his left ankle while running one play, on the same play WS's WR Shawn Clark and OLB Todd Bishop got injured (not sure of the extent of there injuries) Doctors told Corey tonight in the ER that they would be keeping him over night to go surgery on him in the morning, said they would be putting a bolt and pin in his ankle in the morning and that he would be in cast (sp?) for about 6 weeks Corey asked about being able to play basketball this winter for Westside and the doctor said he wouldnt advise it with that being said no only is WS's football playoff's gone, nor is there total offence gone, but possibly WS's basketball season as well with Corey gone, and not knowing the extent of injury to WS's Shawn Clark (who was a key role to WS's basketball sucess last season) things are not looking good for Westside
11. [ QUOTE ] Westside 24 Independence 20 [/ QUOTE ] i wouldnt be to sure on that, wouldnt surprise me if they lost this one too
12. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] but i was told that Blfd asked to play Westside early in the season [/ QUOTE ] That info is wrong, if by early in the season you mean they didn't contact them about a series until early this season. They contacted Westside and a number of these other teams from this region very early last year about a series starting this fall. That's eight months prior to the season starting. While Westside obviously isn't my first choice as an opponent for Bluefield, it would be better than being stuck with eight or nine game each season. If you want to be big-time and get the respect Westside is seeking then you schedule the best teams possible and earn that respect. Which means you drop the AA cupcakes and start scheduling the likes of Bluefield, Mount View, James Monroe, Shady Hoover, and even Oak Hill. [/ QUOTE ] nah what i meant when i said that "Blfd asked to play Westside early in the season", was that they asked for a game to be skd early in the season like on the 9/9 or maybe even on the second date of the Graham/Blfd game and WS couldnt do that cause of the contracts they had with the other teams and had already had every set and what have ya....as i said this is just second hand info and as to how true it is, i dunno and as i said its being said that WS is wanting to drop Pikeview, Summers Co, Sissionville, and i have even heard that they want to drop Iaeger and Indy too so that would mean a chance to pick up four, possibly five good teams, as i said the names of teams being thrown around is Shady, JM, Blfd, and MV (and heard today when talking to my friend assoicated with WS that the Gramham name is now being thrown around too) whether any of this is or true or will happen, i dunno, i personally would like to see it happen i can see having WS keep Liberty ®, Scott, Wyo. East, Man, and add the likes of Shady, JM, Blfd, Graham, and MV i could live with that, that looks like a way more respectable skd than what we got now. all though we'd only win one or two games IF THAT but personally if WS as a football team ever gets noticed and respected doesnt matter to me as i said i'm more of a b'ball man myself but i still would like to see some of those match ups in football, although i know we'd get slaughtered, but still would be better than playing teams like Indy, Pikeview, Summers Co., Sissonville, and Iaeger as for basketball i would like to see WS get rid of Pikeview and Summers Co. anyways and pick up possibly Blfd and someone else, possibly Woodrow, i know some probably laugh at this, but WS has played Woodrow several times in scrimmages and its always a heated competition in just scrimmages
13. this is just second hand information and in no way am i making excuses for WS not accepting the Bluefield game, but i was told that Blfd asked to play Westside early in the season and that Westside turned the game down because of the contracts with the other teams and the fact that all the other games had done and been anounced and published, the only game time WS could have played Blfd was in the last week when both was off, but aint it a rule that a team as to have at least one week off? so this is why i've been told that the WS/Blfd game didnt take place but there is a RUMOR around the Westside community that Westside has said to be willing to skd Bluefield when certain team contracts end RUMOR is that Westside is wanting to drop Pikeview, Summers Co., and Sissonville in the future and pick up Shady, James Monroe, and one other team no final decision has been made as to who the final team would be but there have been several that's associated with Westside sports that's told me that WS is willing to play Bluefield in football, but only if they are willing to agree to play basketball with Westside (rumor is WS's basketball program is wanting to drop Pikeview, Summers Co. in b'ball too and pick up Bluefield and someone else in b'ball) others have said WS is wanting to pick up MV but then i've also heard that WS wants to leave it open to see who they could have there chances at playing as i said this is all merely rumors, how accurate any of it is, i have no clue, but i do find it all very very interesting!
14. i agree with a lot that's been said about Fred P. every once in awhile i got to catch him calling action for Blfd. and he had such passion and love for the team these guys that i recently heard, just dont seem to have as much passion and love for the team as Fred does and as has been said ramble on and on! Fred P Jr is just as good if not better than his dad and i enjoyed listening to him call games football/basketball alike which i heard him on game night tonight and from what i can understand called some game in Raleigh Co. tonight 9/16/05
15. Westisde loses to Scott by a final of 13-6 alot closer ending than i anticipated but still this suxs a 1-3 start for a team that went to playoffs the last 2 season is not what i anticipated for them this yr i dunno if its the fact we just aint got good players or the coaching is turning bad or what it is, but something is wrong...really was it ever right? i guess if there is a positive side to this loss to Scott is that Westside might be able to hang with the big boys, seeing how Scott is #3 in AA....lol...NAH i know Weir, Wayne, and even Bluefield are steps above Scott, but still i believe the Skyhawks deserve more credit than they are given anyways seems like this was a good game from the comments i'm reading
16. i cant believe you guys think you will be tested by Wyo. East and Liberty... Liberty *maybe* and that's a very weak maybe too, but Wyo. East, nah, they are proven to still be as bout as bad as Westside in football....geez, i cant believe i just said that
17. lets add Scott/Westside to the list as well i say.... Scott 42/Westside 28 (if there that lucky )
18. i'm surprised the Wyo. East poster hasnt been all over this one yet....anways the kid's name is Evan Muscari he will be playing for the Wyo. East Warriors not sure if he will be playing this yr or not, however he will be one to watch out for in the future! his size is not the greatest but ability wise and basketball IQ is high!!
19. not a problem the guy who does the unoffical site, had to switch sites/domains, shouldnt afford to pay the $70-80 a month that he was paying out on a fixed income! i told him i figured the school would/should pay him for doing the site, cause he does a lot better job than the high school does on the offical site...lol anyways, you are welcomed for the links!
20. Here's a link to the unoffical website, just click the link Westside Web Page here is a link to the offical website of Westside, once again just click the link! Westside High Offical Site the unoffical site is updated more than the offical site is though, just thought i would let ya know!
21. Westside/Man should be good but seeing how WS got senior leader FB Rodney "Rolo" Lusk back, i think we "should" win will be interesting! WS 28 - Man 21
22. sadly i dont see Wyo. Easts first win or next win, until one of the three games either next week against Summers Co. or against Webster Co. if not on those two, for sure by the time they play Indy or at least i would think! could be another long yr in football for Wyo. East! i really thought they would be better this season, after what i seen from them in the Grid a Rama, but i guess i was wrong!
23. Westside gets back on track Below article taken from the Independent Herald written by John Conley. Experience paid off in Westside's 40-20 win over Gilbert. The Renegades bounced back from an upset loss to Liberty(Raleigh) last week and broke open a close game with a pair of third quarter touchdowns in Friday night's contest at Gilbert. A capacity crowd was on hand for the game, which saw Gilbert's 1995 Class A state football champions honored at halftime. "Westside's a good team, and they start eight or nine seniors," said Lions coach Larry Cook. "We have five or six sophomore starting." One of the Renegades seniors, quarterback Justin Sizemore, threw for 124 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown pass to James Krall on the game's first play from scrimmage. "We just needed to play better and focus," Sizemore commented. "Last week we had a lot of things going on (with the school's new stadium opening) and we had to get focused on the game." The Lions tied the game with a 68-yard march later in the period. Jeremy Brown plunged in from a yard out on a quarterback sneak. Rolo Lusk broke through the middle for a 51-yard scoring run to put WHS ahead to stay. Cory Morgan's nine-yard TD carry in the second made it 18-6. Gilbert's Justin Browning ran for 171 yards on 21 carries and scored a touchdown. His 11-yard run up the middle with 2:59 left in the first half, followed by his catch for the two-point conversion, brought the Lions within 18-14. The Renegades stopped GHS on fourth and inches at its own 40 in the third period to set up a scoring drive capped by Sizemore's two=yard pass to Rolo Lusk. Cory Morgan's three yard TD run with 2:40 to go in the quarter extended the lead to 32-14. Each team tacked on a score in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Brown hit Cody Riffe on a 44-yard pass for Gilbert. Westside punched it in with four seconds left on the clock on a shrot run by Jamie Rodden. "Our motto for this week was get better and we feel like we did get better," Cook said. "The way we're going to get better is to play games and get experience." Sizemore was 9-12 on the night and passed for two scores. "I was pretty happy with the way I played," he remarked. "I ran the ball pretty well, I didn't have any interceptions and was finding my receivers pretty well." Morgan ran for 104 yards on 20 attempts and had two TD's and an interception for the Renegades (1-1). Lusk had 70 yards rushing on five carries, ran for a touchdown and caught a pass for another. Krall had two receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown. In addition to Browning, Gilbert got 51 yards on 10 carries from Robert Grimmett. Brown was 6-15 for 103 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. The Lions cody Riffe caught two passes for 80 yards and a score
24. i believe Weir will be back in Charleston in basketball due to the weak region they will be coming out of this season now i aint saying they wont be tough to be, cause i'm not up there and dont know what they have coming back but from looking at the program from states this past season, seems as if Weir lost a lot, maybe not in started wise, but still lost last yr we heard the same thing with Weir coming to charleston, that they was gonna take back their first AA b'ball title in i dunno how many yrs, but they end up being the ones out of the 3 teams Logan did beat, Weir was the ones that lost by the most points (8 if i remember correctly) so really until we all see what everyone has, you cant say for sure i personally think teams that was threats last yr will be threats this yr in b'ball too those teams being, Logan, Westside, Bluefield (probably more so than what they was last season), Wyo. East (this could be the sleeper team of AA), R'wood, Winfield (rumored to gonna have a more decent team than some thought they would), etc. etc. i will say this, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top and it will be an interesting season for sure!
25. hey man, we are cool as ice cubes misinterpretations happen from time to time as Forest Gump would say "It Happons"
