Very true...I understand that one persons actions could have made that woman upset with our region as a whole, but two wrongs do not make a right....it gave her no excuse to say those derrogatory comments, and as a result I and my family caught the brunt of someone else's mistakes. But these are things every family must deal with and was used in our family as a teaching tool albeit much too soon for my taste.

Following the Richlands/Monticello game my family and I were attempting to get on the road to get back home. We were loading our kids and gear in the truck as a Middle aged man and woman walked by our vehicle. They were both wearing Monticello clothing but that was not what I noticed about them first. The woman was singing very loudly (actually screaming it)...."Richlands White Supremacists!!!" Our ever questioning 4 year old looked at us and said "What does that mean?" I have to say my husband attempted to find the lady to ask her to explain it to our child. I was appalled. I would have congratulated any Monticello player, fan or coach after their win as for Saturday they were the better team. However my one and only interaction with someone from their town has soured my view of individuals from their region. As I sat my child down and explained to him that some people think they are better than other people just because of their skin color or something that is different about the other person, I couldn't help but have negative feeling for this woman I had never spoke a word to. Thank you middle aged, caucasian woman who I am assuming is from somewhere around the Charlottesville area, for bringing racism into my 4 y.o. sons life. I hope this note somehow finds you in hopes you will think before you open your mouth again. And congratulations to both teams on fine seasons!

My husband has done some research and it appears that this is a european wood hornet...very large and aggressive when "provoked."

Ok, The other night I am at home and had just gotten my kids bathed and almost ready for bed. Something swarmed at me and I honestly thought it was a small bird. I looked up and it was this huge bee(hornet). I am not normally afraid of bees but you really had to be there. I grabbed up the boys (they are 3 & 1) and rushed them to their room and called my dad to come kill the sucker (my husband was working)...So he gets there and finds a small yellowjacket in the windowsill and kills it and says Ive got your bee...I was like no dad...there is the bee and he's like holy cow....So..he finally kills the bee after it swarms a few more times...any idea if there have been any kind of hornets released in the area or anythying.....this couldn't have been something that is normally in this area....

What would be a good time to get there to get a decent seat? I have a 3 yr old and can not stand the entire game??

Tazewell won by one or two over Council last night and Richlands beat Pocahontas by 15 or 20. Neither were playing great teams but both got W's to start the season.

May have been. I also noticed the grossly inappropriate behavior that was overlooked by the refs on the part of liberty. But I just wondered what could have happened that the ref. saw this incident and didn't call something on either team.

I was hoping someone could fill me in on something that happened during the Liberty game early on. The play was down the field and i just happened to turn my head and noticed one of Liberty's players on the ground and a Richlands player above him with his jersey in his hands shoving him back into the ground over and over a few times. There was a referree that was standing within 10 yds. of them both and was watching this happen. I wondered what happened before this because I honestly was waiting to see a flag thrown, but there was never one....Could anybody fill me in or was I just hallucinating?

We are not just playing any team. I think RHS coaches need to remember the players that got us big wins when Caleb was injured...plus caleb is more likely to get big plays when he is not carrying the ball 95% of the time..Utilize what you have if not you are shooting yourself in the foot.

I understand that, but when you like to attend games, you need to make plans for when that game is going to be.....

Just wondering when Richlands will play their first playoff game? What weekend will they start and what day (Friday or Sat.) will it be played. Any clues?

Well said. I don't think the Blues played up to potential against Carroll. Especially when you are within around 20 yds. of scoring 4 different times and fail. I have noticed a slight change since the beginning of the year. At the first of the year our offense mixed things up quite a bit more than now. It seems that now one or two people are in on every play and ANY team eventually will key on those players. I don't know if it's my imagination or not, but we didn't appear to be as cohesive a the team on friday, as I have seen them be all year.

To me tonight, Richlands looked like a different team than I have seen all year. Granted they got things done, and Tazewell came very prepared, but something seemed "missing." Defense was not as crisp as normal and it seemed like the offense was overusing Jennings when they could have mixed the run up a lot more, and thus taking the pressure off him. The line didn't seem to be giving McCracken as much time as he's had in the past. Im not an expert, just an amateur opinion. We got the win and thats great, but now on to the next team....
