Yeah, you are. The only clowns I see are the ones getting so worked up and personally insulting someone for cracking a light hearted joke. Quit being a baby.
I don't think anyone called him an asshole. You need to hold his hand just a little bit longer today? First of all, if you have never suited up and taken the field, you should just keep your jokes and opinions to yourself. I am pretty sure that he never played. I guarantee that you all that sit on here and criticize people have no clue about what they do. Probably heard it from one of your little GC cronies.
One that is sick and tired of assclowns like you posting crap. Little keyboard warriors write on here about a guy who no longer coaches at "GC." Oh let me refresh you memory about the guy you are talking about had 49 points at halftime vs. Ridgeview.
I also said that if anyone in Region D was able to, it would be Graham. Now we can talk about it being A or AA. Gate City has bounced back and forth.
Just curious, where are all of those PV state trophies housed? Are they at Union? Are they at Phil's house? I know that Phil didn't win the first one, so is it at JB's house? Powell Valley no longer exists.
PV no longer exists? Holy cow, do people know? You should definitely let people know.
The Browns didn't exist from 1996-99, but their NFL championships weren't erased from the record books. The question, I assume, is what school will eventually catch PV and become the Region D school with the most football titles. It'll happen eventually, since you just broke the news PV can't rack up any more titles (RIP), but who will it be? Can Graham win five before GC wins four? Or can someone else start a streak and come out of nowhere?
I am pretty sure that I was being facetious. Do I need to get you a dictionary?
Record book for what? Most state championships? That title belongs to Hampton. If you are referring to Group A? Riverheads will soon take that title.
I don't know if anyone really has a good answer for declining numbers in football.
I have seen this happen though.
What would a kid rather do? Football in the hot sun all summer long or shoot a basketball in an air conditioned gym? Before all of you get your hair in a knot about air conditioned gyms, I know that not every school has it.
I do think that the smaller schools (enrollment) suffer greatly from year round activity. (in any sport). Kids need to be kids and play multiple sports. College coaches look for those kids who have played multiple sports when recruiting kids. Even the big linemen can benefit from wrestling or throwing the shot put.
Well the 2019 TSSAA Football Championships are in the rear view mirror, and the old adage still applies that the more things change, the more they stay the same!
In D1 1A: Lake County won its second title (1985 was its first) over Greenback 38-23
In D1 2A: Peabody won its 3rd title over Meigs County 27-16. Peabody now has a 23 game winning streak, the longest currently in the TSSAA any class. And also won last year!
In D1 3A: Alcoa won it's 18th title over Pearl Cohn 27-0. That is 5 in a row for Alcoa. Gary Rankin has won 15 state titles and lost 14 games at Alcoa. He is 11 wins from winning his 450th game.
In D1 4A: Elizabethton won its first TSSAA title, second in school history (1938) beating Springfield 30-6..this will probably be the title game next year too
In D1 5A: Knox Central won its second title, back to back with last year over Summit 30-7. 5A in Knoxville area is the best in the state!
In D1 6A: Maryville won its 17th state title beating Ravenwood 42-21. It is Maryville 2nd title in 3 years.
In D2 1A: Davidson Academy won it's 5th state title over USJ 31-21. University School of Jackson now has 6 runner-up finishes and no titles.
In D2 2A: Evangelical Christian School of Cordova won its fifth title over CPA. Christ Presbyterian finished 7-7 after starting out 0-4.
In D2 3A: McCallie (Chattanooga) over MBA 28-7, it is McCallie's second title.
Thanks again for letting me post and for the interest. It was good to see Elizabethton win, as it was Greeneville last year..Greeneville will be back in a year or so it's going to be fun to watch.
I believe that Rankin has lost 18 games in 14 years at Alcoa. That is pretty ridiculous either way, considering when you take into account that most of those losses have come at the hands of Maryville. It is pretty incredible that you have two neighboring schools that have 35 state titles between the two.
Don't hate greatness they are on a different level and have a great program.
I was being facetious....thanks though.
Everyone gets on here and talks about their ADM numbers. Maybe there is some truth to it, since their enrollment stays at 476 every single year? Sounds a little suspicious to me.
Now on to the surprises. Eastside could surprise Holston second time around. I know most people think Holston wins, could be a better game this time around. Can Castlewood hang around to the end vs. Burton?
This is our society today. Society wants the easy way out. Nobody wants to or has any fight left in them This is a reflection of our country period. I applaud every team that has been a low seed and gone and faced the music. There are teams that have been willing, and eventually it has paid off.
We blew a great chance in 2015 due to playoff injuries and a less than adequate defensive coordinator. 2017 was definitely a missed opportunity. If any 1 of three plays had gone our way in the Appo game, we would have been playing for a state championship game and I truly believe we would have won.
For the future, if our current roster of 7-11 graders stay the course, we will have a couple more shots at a championship. Time will tell.
