  1. Its nothing compared to Pilgrims Knob to Ewing or even Clinchport or Nickelsville. Twin Valley to Thomas Walker - 3 hours! In a car! TV - any of the Hogo schools would be under 2 hours Not exactly close but better
  2. The great thing about that kind of stuff is the randomness of it, its not as cool if people are trying to force it. And thats what would happen
  3. When that happens, TV and Council will have a hard choice, join a district w/ much larger schools or join the Hogo, I know thats not something that has been brought up but would be alot better than joining the Cumberland
  4. When Tazewell and Richlands drop I would say they would. When that happens Grundy may decide to rejoin also, if that happens TV and Hurley may be screwed. Although a district w/ Lebanon, Honaker, Castlewood, Hurley and TV wouldnt be bad
  5. DCHS will be ready for the 2014 school year, 2015 at the latest. Who knows what will happen w/ the districts? Although I think large districts will be the trend. Thats probab;ly not possible with the current BDD and CD D1 schools as they are too far apart but the larger schools could form new districts in several nice ways.
  6. Thats a LONG haul for CD games. TW and RC stand NO chance in that district. Cant agree w/ you on this one. VHSLHelper had a nice district setup, I cant remember the details but it was well laid out. Maybe he will post it on this thread
  7. In the next 3 or so years. That will result in a school w/ around 700 students and will take a team from the LPD, CD and BDD. Add that in with the possible dropping of Tazewell and Richlands and alot of change is about to happen. It could go a dozen different ways but I see the Clinch Mtn District being dissolved and the LPD beefing up along w/ a single A version of the SWD And back to brian1269, JI Burton is considering joining Wise County, if that happens teams will have to be added to the LPD, if it doesent JIB will most likley move to the Cumberland and teams will still have to be added to the LPD
  8. Why dont you guys just suck up a little! just kiddin. Honestly things are ran smoothly on here and its because of the admin's, good job guys. I also like the fact that I can go around and around with anyone on here(and have with some) and dont feel as though im gonna get in trouble w/ the powers that be(as long as it is kept clean), that means alot and speaks well of you guys. Although I dont understand how navigation could be easier on this site? Its pretty well laid out
  9. The LPD and Cumberland both now have fewer schools due to consolidation. I cant see how realignment cant happen, things are about to change alot in the Region D. Remember there are other sports beside football lol
  10. God I hope not. Im pretty sure the students from St Paul and Coeburn were given a choice of 3 names; Eastside, Twin Rivers(Clinch and Guest which are prominent landmarks in bith towns) and something else, I cant remember. The name wasnt introduced to represent the Jersey Shore but may well have been chosen for that reason
  11. I would assume Haysi/Ervinton will play. Ervinton droped Haysi a few years back because it wasnt a competitive series but I dont see anyway that two county schools which are 20 minutes apart would settle for less than 10 games. The directional names were what the students wanted(although I agree they are poor choices). The crazy thing is the name that has brought on the most controversy is Union. Some people(adults) are upset that it isint a directional name like the other two.
  12. I think he is generally listed as a Safety. Either way he seems to be a good prospect. Glad to see Tech recruiting VA players
  13. Glad to see Hurley doing well against quality opponents. Even if they arent AAA lol
  14. Very true. Similarities can be drawn between Haysi in D2 and Tazewell in D3; both are small for their classification and have some talent but not lots of it on a consistant basis. Haysi was always about 50 students or so from being D1, if Haysi would have been D1 you would probably see a few state titles in the trophy case, Tazewell has been close to an A school(now is an A playing up). I personally believe that the some of the local schools playing up hurt several local A football teams in this area; if Tazewell, Graham, Grundy and Gate City would have dropped when their numbers warranted it Haysi and Clintwood would probably have been D1 and would have had much more success in the playoffs. But thats JMO and is neither here nor there. Clintwood is a good example, they played in a district w/ Powell Valley who thru the late 80s and 90s was as good as any AA team. A Fact that really hurt Clintwoods success but the people of Clintwood accepted this and made the best of the situation in terms of coaching. If im not mistaken Clintwood has only had 3 Head Coaches in the past 30 or so years. In the 70s they had 3 state titles but until rescently they had very little high level success but were led by good men and put quality teams on the field, thats something to be proud of. As far as Clintwood vs Haysi, early on in the rivalry Clintwood won alot by large ammounts(Clintwood was an established, successful program by the time Haysi started playing football) but asthe series went on Haysi wins about 1 in 3 games vs Clintwood. Now the past 5 years has been a different story where Clintwood has went through a resurgance and Haysi has fallen off quite a bit. But to answer your question, losing 9 out of 10 games against Clintwood probably wouldnt be acceptable, which like I said the Tigers have lost 6 in a row to the Greenwave and there really arent rumblings about a coaching change. Its understood that Clintwood has been on a run and we cant match them talent for talent
  15. I dont either but im pretty sure he got hurt during the season. Hate to see anyone get hurt at all, let alone twice in one year. Espicially someone as talented as he is.
  16. I know almost nothing about the "situation" at Tazewell but I do know coaches that are of the quality Carlock and Mance dont come along very often. Haysi for example has had James Colley for 26 years(I think), Coach isint the greatest coach ever; his offense is good but is similar to what everyone is running now(except Haysi runs about 3x the # of formatiuons of most teams), but 15+ years ago he was very innovative. Haysi year in and year out has a solid team and has a good record against schools their own size(tend to get beaten badly against bigger schools). Coach Colley has won 3 region titles, more BDD titles than can be easily counted(at least 15 probably closer to 20) and his teams generally finish the season at 7-3, sometimes better, sometimes worse. The people/fans/whoever at Haysi are comftorable with this, its not the best setup(a state title every few years) but its realistic. My point is, whats better; a steady coach w/ 10+ seasons, a .700 winning percentage and some high level of success or a revolving door w/ no stability, a sub .500 winning percentage and very little success, all in an effort to be champions? Great coaches are hard to find and often harder to keep. Get a good one, keep him and be glad that your boys have a good man leading them. If they win state great if they dont thats ok to because thats not the point of high school football and anyone who says that is the point is a fool
  17. Didnt he hurt his knee during the regular season?
  18. I was thinking Clintwood and Grundy played each other during the regular season for a couple of years before they started schrimmaging each other. I remember going over to Grundy and watching those two play(Haysi had Clintwood early in the season and Grundy late). Maybe 04 or 05?
  19. Its not really any tougher time than they had filling out a AA schedule is it?
  20. Its not really any tougher time than they had filling out a AA schedule is it?
  21. 16 overall is pretty good. He may make a solid player for VT
  22. Is he gonna be a Jr or a SR this comming season? Is he starter material or is he looking at a position change?
  23. JMO but Wyatt's teams played Richlands tough and didnt have nearly as much talent. Like alot of others said, Pocy was competitive under him and thats an accompolishment
