  1. I will if I can. This is what ive got The old Haysi helmets are wrong(I think). Haysi may have had white helmets w/ red paws at one time but they also had white helmets w/ a blue tigers logo(it looked similar to the old GIANTS logo w/ the line under the writing) white facemasks, back in the day Haysi used blue/white later moving to red/white/blue. Also since '01 Haysi hasnt had any logo on the helmets, just red helmets w/ white facemasks. JJ Kelly also wore red helmets w/ a white K(no trim around the K) white facemasks and a white stripe accross the top in the late 90s until BI Salyers became the head coach(maybe 04?) Coeburn is now wearing white helmets w/ knights written in cursive in blue, not sure on facemask color, I think white but not 100% Up until 07(?) Clintwood wore green helmets w/ white numbers on both sides, dark green facemasks, the helmet stripe was like '73- Graham but 3 white stripes Late 90s - ? Castlewood wore blue helmets w/ a white flameing C(calgary flames logo) I think white facemasks From the late 90s until the current helmets JI Burton wore the 93 style helmets w/ a thick orange stripe(U of tennessee style) Anything else let me know
  2. thanks, I really enjoy local sports history. Ok a few questions, Where were Rural Retreat before '72, George Wythe before '90 and John Battle before '94? Patrick Henry was a AA school before '88, right? What District, Southwest?
  3. What teams were in the HOGO back then, early 80s?
  4. His deep burinig desire to put down Palmer is suspicious Thanks 2dalejrfanz
  5. true. Desire has alot to do w/ it. Haysi has fielded some pretty good teams but not alot of college players at any level, they just dont want to go to college. There are alot of factors that go into it(im sure you all know that), it is kinda suprising tho
  6. I knew they won region those two years, 08 they got destroyed by Clintwood and 09 just bairley lost to JI Burton(by 2 points). But I didnt think they had won district. Who are Barr and Asher? Details please
  7. this isint directed at anyone in particular but I dont think people in general realize how hard it is to make a D-1 roster, it really does take a special player, he must have talent for sure but the work ethic required is unreal
  8. I wouldnt say that it wont happen again, but they did have some talent there for a few years. Did Holston win the HOGO in the last couple of years?
  9. Chilhowie and GW are obviously the favorites but the other teams wouldnt be that hard to compete with; Holston is down and may bounce back, NW is in shambles but holds some promise for the future, RR is ok. What im trying to say is 3rd isint that far outta reach for any of those teams, including PH(although they have the farthest to go)
  10. I think 3rd is reasonable for the next few years, down the line who knows
  11. I alsways thought Fuller would play safety. Did he consider a position change at VT? Which if he wants to be a WR then more power to him
  12. I dont know if PH can be a state title contender every year but it is entirely possible for PH to compete for the HOGO title year in and year out and I think thats all Palmer is shooting for. He's realistic and makes the most of what he has. Im not trying to put down Holston but the task ahead of Palmer is no greater than the one that was in front of Matlock and I would argue Palmer is in a better situation due to PH's bigger enrollment which gives him more kids to work. Matlock has shown he can succeed with lots of talent, lets see how he does when he doesent have as much and if he can develop talent. PV is not the job it once was
  13. I forgot the playoff games, but you get my point. Those boys should be proud
  14. Turner may help ease consolidation, but Palmer was definately more qualified and IMO the better choice
  15. last year they were what? 7-3? thats a pretty good turn around
  16. They really must have good work ethic, this graduating class was a large part of the turnaround at Grundy. (maybe turnaround is too strong a wod but you know what I mean) What was their record as Freshmen?
  17. Thats always been the impression I have gotten from him, reasonable and logical.
  18. you can call it however you want to but threatning anyone personally is just rediculious, and remember I have never had a problem w/ you but thats out of line IMO
  19. His coaching ability(relating to players) can be questioned but his scheming cannot, best in SWVA IMO. Haysi runs a basic set of concepts from an almost limitless number of formations, very hard to prepaare for. While were talking about small schools and rural areas, Haysi is not located in a major metropolitan area, its pretty rural and the student base is spread out, not an easy place to coach. Its not as small as Ervinton or Rye Cove but faces alot of the same challenges, not to mention Haysi played in Division II until a few years ago. I cant explain how underhanded, immature, dirty and despicable it is to threaten someone for comments(none of which were nasty or espicially insulting) made on an open forum. Grow up cavdaddy
  20. Thanks for the info. We were trying to keep it from around the 1950 to the present though
  21. Should make the fans at NW happy
  22. If he has seen success at the JV level and no one is interested give the man a chance w/ the varsity. Just curious, what type of offense did the JV team run? But your right, some coaches can call plays but cant prepare and I think that is why alot struggle on a higher level
  23. I knew they had several Pound players but I didnt know there were that many quality players. Add those kids back to Pound and the Wildcats probably would have been pretty good this past season
