  1. Its just a big ole coon, IMO. Seriously though, I dunno what that is, but it looks like all your activity is going on around 8 PM. Saddle up, bring extra ammo, and go find out for yourself one night.
  2. Most of the 4th quarter as in until the last 3 and a half minutes of the game.
  3. Bama drops to #4 after tonight, wins out, finds themselves at #2 at season's end, and wins another NC. SEC stays king.
  4. Since the offseason moves are starting and will only pick up from here on out, I figured I'd go ahead and start the 2013 thread to document some of the news between now and Spring Training. So with that... David Ross just signed a 2-year $6.2 million deal with the Red Sox (ATL offered 2 years at $3.25 million). Can't really blame him for chasing that type of money at age 36 this late in his career as a backup, but it definitely sucks. I don't think we'll find anyone who was as productive as him when McCann was on the bench.
  5. The more things change, the more they stay the same? P.S. I'm not insinuating that all red states still equal slave states and are racist. Just a pretty neat graphic...
  6. Unrelated to the thread as a whole, but just a gem I think I thought I'd throw into this portion of the discussion. Even with Canada's free/socialized health care system, they still rank #6 on the Heritage Foundation's Index of Economic Freedom. Four spots higher than the United States (who is ranked #10). Carry on.
  7. The money lines in Vegas for today are Romney -250 and Obama +300. Seriously thought about making a little on Romney, but ultimately didn't place a bet.
  8. Debatable. Charlie Daniels is a Romney supporter.
  9. I'd like to see the Braves sign Victorino honestly. He's coming off one of his career worst seasons but if you look at the stats they are still productive. Productive enough to suffice if Prado, Freeman, McCann, Heyward, and Uggla all stay healthy and produce. I like Swisher too but another option would be to sign Victorino as a LF and go after BJ Upton in center. He's young and talented and might just need a change of scenery to turn out his potential. I think we can get out of this offseason without letting go of any pitching. Then we can hold to them as trade bait if/when we need it when the regular season rolls around.
  10. It would be interesting... but there is definitely a reason that Bud Foster hasn't ever been the head man of a football program and he won't be one at Tech either.
  11. Agreed, but apparently lots believe his stint at USC(e) as position coaches and special teams and recruiting coordinator have paved the road for him. I dunno, but like you I doubt it. Regardless, if he was ever offered the VT job then he's going to get his fair share of time to "right" the ship, IMO. Lots of people thought VT gave Beamer way too much time in the beginning (hindsight is 20/20 for sure) and I'm sure Shane will be graced with the same opportunity (read: x>5 years). There are a lot of good lower level head coaches (Gus Malzahn) and BCS coordinators (Kirby Smart) that I believe would be a much better alternative to Shane in the beginning. I'm not ignoring the fact that Shane Beamer will be a future VT HC though; it's just a matter of how soon. Before I get too deep, I want to clarify that I am not saying we fire Frank at all because I do think he still has some more miles left in him. I do believe though that its time to get tough on him and give him the ultimatum to either 1.) make some necessary changes on your staff or 2.) stick your neck out for them and hope you don't hang yourself.
  12. Reading rumors on some other boards... Posting here for fun/discussion... Weaver retires. Big Beamer slides over the AD position. Little Beamer is your HC. Thoughts? Opinions?
  13. Add $17 million to that. 5-year $62 million through 2015.
  14. Go ahead and write them off because I'd bet almost anything that we don't resign him. We will definitely offer something pretty sweet like 3 years for $30-odd million, but someone will definitely offer a contract like 5 to 6 years for $60-some million. Someone is going to overpay Bourn this off-season and it won't be Atlanta. He'll be 30 going into next season and locking into a long-term deal with him is a risky decision that a lot of teams can't afford or will be willing to do.
  15. Can't be. He'll be the 4th or 5th outfielder for speed and defense, IMO.
  16. I think we'll go for and sign someone like Victorino to replace Bourn.
  17. I agree, but unfortunately, the rest of society doesn't see it that way. Prime example was last Friday night at a WV high school football game. A Tygarts Valley student was stabbed to death by another kid during an altercation in the parking lot before kickoff. Supposedly, the kids fought at school earlier that day and one kid must've got his ass kicked by the other. So what does the loser do? He comes back out later, finds the winner, stabs him 4 times and the victim ends up dying a few hours later. Lots of punks out there that deserve more than an ass kicking.
  18. I'm not too quick to concede the fact that ALL of Wayne's talent is "homegrown" either. There are LOTS of schools in Wayne and Cabell Counties in addition to the rest of the Tri-State area up there. Just sayin...
  19. I have and will always have the utmost respect for the these guys... BUT that picture was taken in September. Not during the hurricane. Still an awesome photo, and we do know that they'll be there today, tomorrow, and every day this great country is alive and well.
  20. I think your number 1 qualifies as your number 2, but agree to disagree there. I just don't see chasing tail just to get laid as real "honest", IMO, and the motive is ultimately the same - to say or do anything to get a piece of ass. 99.9% of all high school boys usually brag about their conquests to their buddies whether its with a random hookup or a steady girlfriend. It's a badge of honor at that age and basically a competition to "one-up" your peers. A competition much like fantasy league point standings. Only thing different is actual documentation. Yeah, I didn't really want to throw Huguely into the mix in my first post because he wasn't really relevant in event of sexcapades, but his attitude and demeanor are certainly indicative of the typical private school culture. Most of those kids go into adulthood with no real understanding of the real world, and are hardly ever held accountable for reckless actions. Daddy's money can get you out of a lot things, and although its happened before, murder usually isn't one of those things.
  21. Happened in 2010 at Landon Boys School in Maryland too... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/06/09/AR2010060905925.html Nothing new, IMO. I know people don't like to hear it, but females have always been "prey," especially for the hormone raged teenage boys. Guys have always used girls for one specific thing. It happened when we were in high school and its happening now. Girls should definitely be aware, but like I said its not exactly groundbreaking info. Every teenage movie dating back to the 80's have almost always had some plot of getting laid by any means necessary. These kids know the drill.
  22. Like I said, that's pretty huge for the Beavers going into the playoffs assuming they don't slip to the #4/5 seed at any point (which is still possible if they take an L at Wayne to end the regular season).
  23. HUGE 57 yard KO return by David. 1st and 10 from the Oak Hill 27. 3 minutes remaining.
