  1. what happened to drew walker and gavin angle that played for them? i noticed that there names havent been in the scorin columns after there games... they still playin?
  2. did the twin valley fans cheer for the australian team when twin valley played them? cause they cheered for the australian against everyone else... its pretty cool to play against teams from other countries but as we live in the southwest virginia area when were playin a team outta country we should cheer for each other instead of a team not even from the same country... cause when were out on the court i cant stand bluefield, but when there playin someone other then us i still like to see them win and hope that they do well... so i didnt really get the whole twin valley fans cheerin for the australian team to beat all the area teams that they played...
  3. i still dont believe that was the only time they had played together, even tho they said it... they had good team chemistry and had plays and everything so i just dont believe that, plus you dont just up and travel across the planet never having even practiced together before... but anywho, who was the all tournament team down there? cause i think they were suppose to name that tonight...
  4. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Heres my info on the game...Like i said, a full game review on my part just to let the people who wernt there the feel for tonights game.. Pre-game ------------ Walking into the game i didnt know what to expect to be honest with you. Princeton has owned bluefield in this tournament the past few years and i had mixed feelings. After waching princeton play James Monroe, there was no doubt in my mind that princeton could hang with the best of them and so it started after the sining of the national athem...Tip off 1st quarter ----------- Bluefield won the opening tipoff (i'd like to add, we've won every tipoff this season). We missed our first few attempts and princeton took advantage of that scoring 6 unanswered points. Bluefield came back and made it 6 to 4. Princeton pretty much dominated the first quarter in every aspect, there were mean and furious down low and then they could shoot the jumper (well jevon carptenter could anyways) and the could nail the 3. It was ridiclious, at this point i didnt think we had a chance 2nd quarter ------------ Princeton had a slight lead, but bluefield using there defensive pressure came back and cut the depesite to only a few getting everybody in the stands pumped out. That close game slowy deminished though as princeton took the ball inside, along with some bull crap calls i may add and went into the half with a few point lead.. Halftime ----------- It was great, i watched princetons cheerleaders preform and went and got some water, DELISH! 3rd quarter- ------------ This is my opinion was bluefields quarter, they came out with alot of pressure forcing princeton to make some bad passes and we got some steals. Coach gilliard was running man i do belive and they did a number to there down low game. I dont believe they made to many baskets down low in the 3rd quarter, i could be wrong though. I thought we were going to pull away in the 3rd. Princetons players gasping for air and looking like they were about to pass out made me chuckle and see how much better we were in shape than them. The game was even more close with princeton only leading by a few heading into the final quarter. I could taste victory. Or something, it could have been those sour straws also though. 4th quarter ------------- By far the best quarter of basketball i have witnessed in a while now. Bluefields defensive pressure was still getting to princeton, which allowed bluefield many easy lay ups and shots down low made. Many key blocks/swats also by D.Moore, and ansel ponder. Bluefield slowly but surely pulled ahead for the first time in the game with a dexter moore layup and bluefields side went nuts. Playing stellar defense and some help from the officials kept this game close. But bluefield with some key shots pulled away by as many as 8 points. With bluefield up by 5 late late in the game. It was time for Jevon Carpenter to step up. Nailing a trey to make them down by two. My stomach dropped as i could feel a comeback in the making. Dexter quicky got the ball out and passed, the ball finally ended up in the hands of chance cotrell at about half court (just to clear up what was said, chance didnt make the basket and got called for traveling, he was only about to the free-throw line when that happened, and he didnt even get a shot off) Princeton and bluefield fans both went bezerk with that call. There was a matter of seconds left in the game. about 20 i would guess, the ball goes down low and apparently we fouled him, but i saw nothing that evem remotley looked like a foul in my opinion. He sunk both free throws and tied the game up. 14 seconds left and dexter runs it up the court. If we dont get the last shot, nobody will was his thinking about boy did it work great. Down low he went with about 6 seconds left and the ball got swatted out of bounds. We imbound it and it gets knocked out again. So its basically do or die time. Now at this point i cannot watch the game anymore, im so nervous you couldnt immagine. I really felt for the players. I couldnt play in a game of this magnitude. But apparently from what i've heard. He imbounds it to brooks, he throws up a fade-away shot and bluefields student section storms the court. I went with them after realizing what just happened. I look at princetons student section and there just standing there with the goofiest looks on there faces. My gracious i love it!!! We went and celebrated with the players for a few moments and then we let them accept there plaque and we celebrate some more Thats basically it (On a side note, i would like to add Princetons student section has the worst bunch of idiot, classless punks i've ever saw in my life. During the 3rd quarter i guess one of them thought it would be funny to go up top and down through our student section(not so fast my friend) i knew what he was doing trying to start something. I was sitting down at the time socalizing with some friends of mine and i simply just stuck out my leg and let him fall like the jackass he was. He looked back and me and was going to say something. Until he saw me i suppose (mind you, im about 6'0 260, i dont get messed with very often. So he shut his yap and went back to his side were he belonged another incident was following our comeback, our whole side, not just students, but fans were standing up and cheering. We called a timeout so we sat down but they were still standing up and cheering. So princetons student section gets a bright idea to start a chant that went something like this "Sit down old fucks", no im not big on cussing. I was just using that to show how classless there fans really were. A member of this board. He plays football for the barons, big bald guy cant remember his name though. I think jerry. He turned around and point his finger and them and told them to come on over here. They shut up instantly. Thats about it though [/ QUOTE ] ..... Rocks will be signing autographs for this novel at the next game so get in line early, lol [/ QUOTE ] haha he said on his last post that it was the longest her had posted... well i think this one was quite a bit longer lol... but did fill me in on what happened cause i couldnt be at the game...
  5. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] i was mainly talkin about last year and the year before... its not like i trashed bluefield, all i said is princeton plays a slow paced game and it makes it a better game because of there different styles of play, thats the only way a team can beat bluefield is to make them play a slower paced game, cause no one can run and score with them [/ QUOTE ] Bluefield is 5-1 versus Princeton the past two years. You're point is taken though, if you slow Bluefield down and make them play a half-court game they won't be as effective. Princeton will do that tonight, they'll slow the pace down offensively and play a zone defense on the other end. Princeton is capable of being successful employing such a philosophy tonight, which is why I say this will be a great opportunity to gauge Bluefield's team. [/ QUOTE ] but there all close games cause of princetons style of play, i went to the game at bluefield state last year that bluefield won and it was a great game from beginning to end... and yeah thats all i was mainly sayin is princetons half court offense is what makes that game a great game to watch... didnt princeton beat bluefield the first two times they played them last year? then bluefield won the 3rd time? not completely sure on that but thats what i had thought happened and a few other ppl told me that its what happened to...
  6. i was mainly talkin about last year and the year before... its not like i trashed bluefield, all i said is princeton plays a slow paced game and it makes it a better game because of there different styles of play, thats the only way a team can beat bluefield is to make them play a slower paced game, cause no one can run and score with them
  7. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] they were good, its just we played good, we hit shots and made passes... they could shoot and they were huge at all positions on the court, having 2 ppl at 6'10 and about 3 others at 6'5... im gonna say it jumpin wise they put bluefield to shame, i seen there one guy that was about 6'0 touch close to the top of the box in warm ups... [/ QUOTE ] That Australian team didnt have two guys 6'10 and three others that were 6'5. Maybe three guys that were 6'5 but they couldnt weigh more than 250. They were rail thin for the most part and had no offensive move when they caught they ball in the low post. [/ QUOTE ] did you watch the same game?? they had one guy listed at 6'10, said he weighed 195, he wasnt muscular but wasnt skin and bones either, not to mention they were all talented... and yeah the other guy was 6'9 that dunked and he was pretty dag on muscular... and there first team that started there pg number 4 was 6'4, with there number 40 bein 6'6... its not like they were tall and lanky, they had some muscle tone to them and were talented... and against a small team like us you dont need an offensive move, all you need is a drop step baseline and shot, or even turnin to the middle and shootin, or a pump fake, i seen them do all that and thats where they scored, i dont remember them shootin any 3s all game, might have hit 1 or 2 but i dont remember... all there points were inside... the 2 guards they put in were about 5'11 and 6'0 and they were fast and passed good and could both start for any team around this area...
  8. we play at 6... and i think the tv and australia team play on saturday... that australia team will beat tv pretty bad i think... they got size and speed, tv only has the big guy but that australian team can shut him down with there size...
  9. the reason bluefield and princeton BOTH play weak teams is so that they will both make it to the championship easy so that it will sell out and make a lot of money... which it does... its a set up deal so that both teams will play each other in the championship, thats a pretty good game everytime they play... and the reason that princeton beats bluefield most the time is cause they slow down the game and make bluefield play there slow paced game, not the run and gunnin offense that bluefield usually plays, that gets bluefield completely outta there game and thats why princeton usually wins that game...
  10. [ QUOTE ] How many dunks they throw down? [/ QUOTE ] just one, guy powered under and finally got it
  11. they were good, its just we played good, we hit shots and made passes... they could shoot and they were huge at all positions on the court, having 2 ppl at 6'10 and about 3 others at 6'5... im gonna say it jumpin wise they put bluefield to shame, i seen there one guy that was about 6'0 touch close to the top of the box in warm ups...
  12. thanks, but yeah were still tryin, were improvin a lot... the eric guy scored alot early, but second half shut him down pretty good... we almost beat that Australian team today, lost by 5 or 6... it was close the whole game... they outsized us alot... not to mention there not a high school, there a team that was put together from the best kids in the country is what there coach had said...
  13. [ QUOTE ] KTom33 for Point guard! [/ QUOTE ] haha i like it and we won lol... hes at a golf tournament i think in jacksonville...
  14. KTom33

    Graham?

i heard you had sucked is why you quit playin?
  15. KTom33

    Graham?

[ QUOTE ] Doubt it, if they KNEW how to do it, then they WOULD do it. [/ QUOTE ] actually at graham we do box out, we have to, thats the only way we get rebounds cause of how undersized we are... yall are forgettin the main fundamental that should be taught 1st before anything else... and that is how to catch the ball... you cant dribble, pass, or shoot if you cant catch the ball... that is our biggest problem as a team at graham, people get hit in the hands with passes and they drop it, its not just one person either... we are actually startin to pass the ball now, just a lot of times we make the pass to late, or dont make the extra pass... but its comin around... we played those 3 great teams early to make us better... we play bluefield and pulaski again in early Jan, so well see how much of an improvement we make and if it paid off or not...
  16. actually the teams in our rec the kids each have to play 2 quarters, the best 5 play on the 2nd and 4th qtrs, the other 5 play 1st and 3rd... and all the coaches are fair because if there not they kick them outta the league...
  17. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] When does Graham play at home? [/ QUOTE ] more importantly, when does graham not get beat down?? probly when they play tazewell [/ QUOTE ] lol
  18. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] i'm just glad gman didn't blame rec league. but yea, the 6 game county schedule is bull. i was at the community center the other day and i overheard a couple little kids talking, one from bluefield, one from graham. the beaver asked the g-man how many games they played. the g-man said 6 and the beaver, probably in seventh grade, was extremely shocked. if a seventh grader knows its wrong, why doesn't the school board? [/ QUOTE ] Rec league is a whole other topic...but no skills are taught or developed there either so it is a complete waste of time...the kids might as well be hanging out and playing ball at the park... [/ QUOTE ] now i can tell you that your full of yourself... cause i know from the pee wee leagues to the midgets in rec league that they do teach fundamentals and how to play the game (this is va side, i dunno about the wv side cause ive never seen them) the senior boys is the only league that doesnt teach much because the kids wont listen so they just go out an play... but i know the midgets and pee wees are taught very well, considerin they only get to work with them 2 nights a week, 2 games on weekends, for about 2 months... so you can talk all the crap you want about schools cause you should know about them, but you cant say anything about the rec league up here cause you obviously dont know it at all, if you wanna prove me wrong, show up to some of the kids practices and games and look for yourself
  19. yeah our rec league program is good in va, its about the only thing that teaches kids how to play from when there 5 to about 14, then jv starts... but yeah thats pretty bad
  20. for once in my life im gonna agree with GMan on the whole 8 games a season for the middle school thing.. my brother started on the 7th grade team and they played about 8 games... while other counties are playin full schedules in the winter time... we play tazewell twice, pocy twice, and richlands twice, then a playoff... so why is there season is so short?
  21. KTom33

    Graham?

im not one to complain about refs, i actually think this is the first time i have, but everytime we blocked a shot or did anything it was a foul and they were shootin free throws, which they hit all night... while when we got fouled on the other end repeatedly and hardly got the calls, and when we finally got them they said it was on the floor... realisticly that should of been about a 12 to 15 point win for pulaski, not a 40 point win, id say they probly outscored us just from the free throw line... they might of had 1 or 2 players in double digits, i know no one had over 14 points, but everyone from there team probly had about 8-9points each... not to mention we had 20 walkin and carrying calls called against us, but it wasnt called both ways... when we played bluefield at least they kept there calls consitent for both teams on the walkin...
  22. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] they had another guy that was 7'1 that didnt even start for them, i figured it was cause since he was so big he was probly clumsy and slow but he actually wasnt clumsy at all and he wasnt a speed demon but he wasnt slow either, plus he took up space and could just reach over us for rebounds lol [/ QUOTE ] He may have been 7'1", but he only weights about 180...how can someone that tall, that only weighs 180, take up space??? [/ QUOTE ] hes actually listed as 7'3... he may not of weighed much but even tho we had him boxed out when he reached across us they didnt call the over the back because of his height anyways, but when you take our team with our tallest person listed at 6'2, anyone over 7 foot should kill us, he actually didnt do that much against us, but his arm span and height alone take up space, any person that knows basketball would realize that...
