  1. From what I have heard....emphasis on "heard" he is awaiting a college opportunity but has informed school board members he will resume past duties i.e. HFC at Galax if it   does not pan out.  Super has been" made aware"  of plans.  Sixcat usually  on target in this area so I await  any info he can provide

  2. My info was Galax Gazette which while a small hometown newspaper has a really good sportswriter in Craig Worrell....also related to Grayson bball Coach i beleive so should have some "insider scoop".    The building of the school on western end will haunt this county educationally/financially  for the next 30 years.....I have yet to hear one person in support of that decision.

  3. If they are smart they will stick with and support Coach Allen......they have new facilities  a good off-season weight program and a good young group coming.  Continuity is key to success.  Coach Allen like the vast majority of football coaches is very solid.  They would be wise to keep him around in my opinion.

  4. Many schools have a student code of conduct that does not require  a "guilty" court verdict. Possesion, under age drinking charges etc.  Just holds students to higher accountability.....not sure if it aligns with "innocent till proven guilty" concept.

  5. Graham needs to get ball to Cousin 25 times minimum.....lots of down hill runs....Galax will secure the perimeter.  Meade will also be a key ...2 years ago at Galax he had an outstanding game.   Graham will need to be patient and not get excited when Galax eats up clock.  Galax will attempt the to sustain long consuming drives.  First down stops will be at a premium for the G Men defense, get Galax in 3 and 7+ and  are just like everyone else.   It will come down to offensive snaps....if Galax gets to 75+ snaps it may be difficult for Graham to come out with a win.  StillI am going Graham 35 Galax 21.   No 5 is a nightmare match-up for anyone also....Graham need to take several shots there.

  6. My initial response was not to short-change Hurley or make excuses for Galax.....I was just many a stating I believe Galax is more more talented  with Echeguary/Edwards/Brown   on the LOS.  Obviously Hurley  was well prepared and played hard.    Mine was just a general observation not intended to provoke or demean anyone.

  7. Do not refute that Hurley had talent.....my focus is your statement   "with the exception of Caleb Spurlin Hurley had as much talent as Galax regardless of position".....Galax did not play well that night ...lackluster etc. while Hurley played inspired football.   But the difference in talent was considerable even if it didnt translate to the score thru the first 3 quarters.

Either way it was a good ball game and the point of thread that Hurly struggles with depth is without question.

  8. Hurley not near as talented up front......Galax along with Spurlin had Echegaurey (72/27) 4 year starter       Edwards(63) 3 year starter    and Brown (69) all 3 were by far the best lineman and most talented lineman on field......not even close

Sorry but I could not disagree more with your assessment

  9. No argument with you there sixcat... I was addressing your comment of a "nose-dive", obviously tons of room for improvement......they won playoff games in 2011 and 2012.....2011 was first since 1991 so don't see real drop-off.....also defeated Clintwood,Galax,Gretna,Fort Chiswell  during period.   Girls B-ball and Volleyball both had outstanding seasons last year.   Just stating I think overall athletic program has held there own in face of huge enrollement drop, a much tougher MED espcially from 2010-2015 and all the financial and admin turbulence.  Just felt your comment of a "nose-dive" was not supported by facts.    Grayson has struggled in the play-offs in just about every sport other than a few occasions in Baseball.  Lots of serious issues need to be addressed.
