[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Why isn't he at Richlands instead of Tazewell anyway? [/ QUOTE ] Well Richlands has long been the school in Taz co that gets pretty much what they want. The powers that be have made sure of that since the days of woodygate. So the only logical explanation for your question is....they didnt want him. Maybe they know something. I mean, they seem to be pretty successful down there at Richlands. Of course the higher ups have made sure of that. [/ QUOTE ]tid bit you have made some fairly intellegent posts here from time to time but that statement is probably the most rediculous i have seen. to imply some long running conspiracy since "woody" is just dumb. if there is any merit to this claim then name the things rlands has recieved from the school board that the other schools have not. only in the last couple years has richlands gotten squat from the county, and thats only because the citizens of rlands had raise the devil over safety issues created by neglect.issues created by the county's takeing care of tazewell instead of problems at the other schools.woodrow has been gone for at least 10 years and i cant remember any spectacular benifts coming to richlands while he was there in cenral office.but now that he's in the state office i hope he's not so bittered by the events leading to his demise that he wont shake some benifits down to the whole county.
  7. like i said EH there will be difficult decisions to make. Instead of you believers sueing to have your school left open under the TCSB why dont you guys petition for "custody" of the school. If there is such a lack of intrest in band and such an overall lack of atheletic ability as you suggest a private school format may be in your best intrest anyway.
  8. unfortunately with our current two party system, to not vote for someone from the primary parties is in essence a "no vote".while I tend to agree that there are basically no candidates worthy of a vote i am going to suck it up and vote for the lesser of two evils and hope someone better comes along next time.
  9. According to todays BDT a group of about 300 Pocy die hards have lawyered up to fight the TCSB. this could get interesting! Despite the other 100,000 citizens in the county who think the kids of Pocy would be better served in the other schools in the county that are fully accredited and offer much more opportunity(both academically and atheletically) the citizens of Pocy have vowed to fight till the end. Personally I feel their pain. Pocy has lost about everthing they have to proud of in the last fifty years. They have lost industry, jobs, census, and the villians at the school board want to take the only thing they have left their school ! their IDENTITY!!! Unfortunatly it is a greater injustice to penalize the tax payers of the county to substidize a communities identity. I would venture guess that it tkes about 5-7 times as much money to educate a kid at pocy than any of the other county high schools. This is not only unfair to the tax payers, unfair to the kids of the other high schools in the county , but ultimately it is unfair to the students of pocy. These kids are denied a huge number of benifits that other county kids are afforded. ie. advanced maths, sciences, literary, and composition classes competitive atheletics, band and other extra curricular activities. Ultimately, I hope the right decisions are made for the greater good of all of the county. I'm sure this is a difficult decision for all those responsible. If no other resolution is reached I propose the county donate the facility (along with all expense liabilities both in maintenence and upkeep, and staffing) to the community of pocy. They could opperrate it as a private school and charge tuition to the enrolled students. The county should also offer transportation to those that would choose to go to the other county schools. This should satisfy everyone in the county. The kids at Pocy have a choice of where they go to school. The citizens of Pocy have their school, and the tax money wasted at Pocy can be put back into the other schools facility improvements. Its the best of all worlds!! Everyone can be happy ( except for those who want everything for nothing, and expect the rest of the county to pay the way for them to keep their school, identity, and pride intact without any other responsibility)
  10. all the districts are finished. anyone have any bracket results or care to start the predictions?
  11. thanks for that clarification helper. that was what i was trying to say but, you did it much better than i. guess we will all have to wait till sunday to see what happens.
  12. i still dont think they have released the brackets yet. if they announce them before the r-ridge and piedmont are finished it will put swd at a disadvantage. i agree with helper, that is only one of the three brackets they will use but its not announced which pool will use that given bracket
  13. is that bracket "concrete" g-man? i was under the impression that there were a total of three scenarios (one of which you listed)and they were to be decided by coaches drawing after the district tourneys. r-ridge and piedmont have yet to wrestle. those scenarios are also to be drawn in a way that the there will be 3 divisions in the weight classes, ie. 103 -130 in one bracket 135 - 160 in another and the upper weights in the third bracket. i may be wrong but that is what is posted on the cavs. wrestling site.
  14. good luck to all SWD teams today at districts
  15. [ QUOTE ] That is true, maker. But, that is not the issue. The issue is whether or not the sb intentionally left this matter off of the agenda. Trying to "sneak" Pocahontas into closure is underhanded. I ask myself this question, if this is true, what else will they try to "sneak" past the taxpayers of this county. [/ QUOTE ]as mealy mouthed and wishy washy as this school board is i would be amazed if they had the spine to try and "sneak" anything past us. i am utterly surprised they didnt resolve to study it again.but if its any consolation --- keep screamin people of pocy! they will cave in and and propose to spend several thousand more dollars to have another study to tell them why the closure must happen
  16. dont cut your rant short there EH .the entire county will have to face this realization sooner or later (if this population trend does not change).Bottom line, these are difficult decisions that must be made for the betterment of the entire community. As for the west va argument Why should my tax money be spent to educate out of state kids for no other reason than to inflate the enrollment statistics at pocy, and prolong the inevitable. There are many hemmorages in the county school system. They must be contained one bleed at a time. This is a harsh reality, but a reality none the less. ] ]
  17. [ QUOTE ] anyone who says tazewell football is going to be good should be sewed [/ QUOTE ]is that sewed as in stitched up in in a quilt or sued as in a court of law?
  18. congrats muncy. i honestly dont understand all the slop slingin here. stats of an individual are directly attributed to the quality of the team around the individual. fuller at rlands is undeniably a great athelete but had much better stats as a jr than a senior. i'm sure that the guys making the bucks at wake see the ability of muncy reguardless of the stats. anyway congrats and good luck and if you'd like to trade the green for blue we'd love to have ya!!
  19. ok,but why have it at the high school instead of riverview? w/ 7 schools represented looks like r-view would be a more likely choice
  20. if i'm not mistaken bishop has already felt the pain of consolidation. now that its settled even the opposers probably will admit it was the right decision. its old history but at that time it cost the county about 10-12$ more per student to teach at bishop than any other taz. county school. i would like to see a similar comparison on pocy. and if those numbers are wrong how 'bout a more informed old timer offer the correction
  21. glad to see mville gettin some love from their community. it will definately bolster their program and make them more competitive. it only takes a little interest and effort from the community to make a huge impact on the success of a program. the tornado club had a few local contributors help buy a new much needed flexi-roll mat along with singlets and warm-ups. many thanks from richlands wrestling!
  22. thanks for the info helper. any idea why they are starting so late on sat.?
  23. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] if he had played for richlands as austin fuller did where would his stats be now... jets send muncy down & while your at it throw in raz - the bluenecks would be loving that idea [/ QUOTE ]they would probably do alot better playing behind the o line rlands has coming back
  24. the Big Blue Classic went very well. the Richlands Wrestling Club would like to thank all the teams for participating and also thank the richlands middle school administration, richlands high school administration and custodial staff, and everyone else who contributed in making the classic happen. blacksburg finished first richlands second and marion third
