Do I need to go back and look for you, or are you able to do that for yourself? I'll let you do that. Just stop your crying, @Bulldogs52. That's all I was asking. You're one of the biggest crybabies on this board...and trust me, that's saying a lot!
No you missed the point, you and a few other Richlands folk have referred to its Tazewell best team!
Oh, I think you really know better than that! But I'll let you believe whatever you want to believe. And I really did think this may have been the best Tazewell team Richlands has played in a long time...but it didn't prove to be true in the end, even with the "sorry" team you accused Richlands of being.
I guess it depends on your definition of "best team". This Tazewell team, although facing deficits in depth, size, & age, seem to put in a "team" effort in every game on both sides of the ball. It may be hard to say that about last years team who consistently struggled stopping any team, and who lost to teams they were more talented than.
But if your definition of "best team", is talent from top to bottom, then last years team was easily "better". They had a 1,000+ yard back, a QB that's on an ACC roster, as well as a few others who went on to play college ball.
You missed the point. It wasn't my definition at all. It was the definition of several Tazewell fans here...or at least the "assumption". Bottom line, they once again had to eat their words.
This isn't the best tazewell team in a long time. Much more talent and depth on past teams. If last years team had bought into defense and toughness like this years team has they probably could've 6 or so Games
I corrected it to "claim to have had"...because they sure have done that.
Well, last I checked you couldn’t catch a ball if not dressed or even playing!
That’s like me saying you know Tazewell top Wr didn’t play but 7 plays of the whole game because he was on the sideline with a broke leg!
Richlands fans are getting so butt hurt on here this season because they can’t face the facts that they are not a good team!
@Bulldogs52, the only poster on here who is using that kind of rhetoric is you. Every Richlands fan on this board expected a drop off this season, and no one has denied that. But you sure are enjoying yourself. I really don't understand why you're feeling so cocky and arrogant. Richlands just beat the best Tazewell team you guys claim to have had in a long, long time with Richlands' "bad" team. I don't know why you are being so belligerent. Stop being such a crybaby.
I know most will pick the blues so let's go ahead and get this thread started
Marion looked (or sounded...I didn't see the game) good vs Gate City last night. I think this game will go down to the wire, and I'm certainly not feeling over confident at all. Could go either way, IMHO.
It was a joke...Damn relax...I have nothing against BBurg...I don't like their arrogant coach...and I hope Salem destroys them yet again....make sense now? Lol
Richlands lost a ton from last year. They played for a state title and lost a game to a Union team that is the schools best since Appy/PV combined. They are fine defensively, but this is not a 10-0 or 9-1 team. It's a 6-4 team. Richlands has Dye and Johnson defensively which are studs, then a bunch of role players who will be good, but they just don't have the talent of years past.
As for Greg Mance, he's been successful for 20 or so years. You don't become and stay successful for that long without making good decisions. Good decisions become habitual. Great coaches and leaders don't wake up one day and develop bad decision making habits. The defensive issues with Richlands is due to paragraph one above, and the same applies to their O, not as explosive. They aren't coaching issues. Richlands is still a 6-4 team. They play the toughest Class AA schedule in Va, with GC, Union, Bluefield, Graham, BBurg, and William Byrd, and Marion who is much improved. I still think they get to 6-4 somehow.
The best team Richlands plays is not Bluefield, Graham, Union, or even Blacksburg, it may actually be William Byrd who lost only 2 games last year. The first to Salem by only 3 pts, and then to Salem again in the playoffs by 7 pts. Salem won the state title.
I thought Richlands beat Union last year. Am I wrong? Maybe he's referring to this year's game. Who knows. The way his post reads certainly isn't clear.
Along similar lines, i would like to make a comment about nearly all of the Richlands' fans' comments on the Richlands/GC game last week. It seems the consensus amongst the Blues faithful is that they played pretty badly, the secondary was not good, and they kept their offense vanilla so as not to show anything to Union. I wasn't at the game, so I can't comment whether any of that is true or not (all 3 could very well be true). Having said that, wouldn't it be proper as a fan to give your opponent just a little bit of credit? I'm not soliciting for compliments by no means. But don't you know that some GC fans are lamenting the fact of how badly we played, with the INTs in the red zone and all?
I don't think any Richlands supporters were disrespecting Gate City at all. I sure don't disrespect GC. I don't know anyone who does. The fact that it was game 1, and both teams have work to do doesn't reflect any disrespect in any fashion. I believe it has more to do with the fact that Union is game #2 for Richlands, and for the past few years that game has decided the champion.
