  1. Don't take my asking the wrong way, I wasn't asking about what happened, but if it's confirmed that the individual isn't going to play, we are going to find out Friday either way and I was just curious.
  2. Which player, will not be playing Friday?
  3. The Super 7 BHC Sports Desk | Updated 6 hours ago Team Record 1. Richlands (4) 0-0 2. Union (1) 1-0 3. Tennessee High 0-1 4. J.I. Burton 0-1 5. (tie) George Wythe 0-0 Gate City 0-0 7. Abingdon 0-0 No. 5 Gate City at No. 1 Richlands Last meeting: Richlands 35, Gate City 28 (Nov. 29, 2014 in Gate City, Va.) This will be 41st meeting these two football hungry schools. Surprisingly, last November’s clash at Legion Field was the first playoff matchup between the two. As usual, interest is high in this rematch with fans likely to arrive at least two hours before kickoff. … Gate City rushed for 262 yards and overcame a 10-7 third-quarter deficit en route to a 28-17 win over Richlands in the storm-delayed opening game last season. Richlands then gained revenge in the playoffs, as quarterback River Michaels completed 20-of-28 passes for 335 yards and three scores while running for 77 yards. …Michaels is gone, but Richlands coach Greg Mance has restocked with all sorts of skill-position athletes that should flourish in the spread offense. First-year quarterback John-Luke Asbury is accurate, while 6-foot-4 junior transfer Cody Howie could be one of the top newcomers in Southwest Virginia. … Gate City must replace speedy Caleb Herron and powerful Evan Baker in the backfield, but quarterback Hunter Collier can run and throw. Prediction: Richlands 28, Gate City 14 No. 3 Tennessee High at Sullivan South Last meeting: Tennessee High 35, Sullivan South 28 (Aug. 29, 2014, in Bristol, Tenn.) Tennessee High’s comeback win over South early in the 2014 season looked even more impressive as the year went on as the Rebels didn’t lose again until the quarterfinals of the Class 4A playoffs. The 35 points scored by the Vikings were also the most the Rebels allowed all season until their postseason setback. … Games between Tennessee High and South have featured their fair share of aerial highlights in recent years, but the skies should be mostly quiet tonight. The Rebels passed for only 42 yards in a 21-14 victory over Boone to open the season, while Tennessee High managed just 40 yards through the air in its 45-14 setback to Dobyns-Bennett last week. … South has beaten the Vikings 17 times, but its 19 losses to Tennessee High are the most against opponent other than D-B. … After a shaky showing against D-B, the Tennessee High defense must make a statement tonight against a strong South offensive line. Prediction: Tennessee High 35, Sullivan South 14 Radford at No. 5 George Wythe, 7 p.m. Last meeting: Radford 35, George Wythe 14 (Aug. 29, 2014 in Radford, Va.) Just call them the new-look George Wythe Maroons. Head coach Brandon Harner’s club returns just three full-time starters on offense and five starters are back on defense. … Gavin Gray, Larry Isaac, Jason Jones and Parker Coe are sophomores who will start on GW’s offensive line. Gray started last season. … Heth Grant (the nephew of Clintwood legend Johnny McFall) and senior quarterback Marcus Finley are the headliners for Radford, which has speed to burn at the skill positions. … Former Rural Retreat head coach Quinton Hensley is now an assistant at George Wythe. … Both of these clubs had their seasons ended by Honaker last year. Radford lost to the Tigers in the second round of the playoffs, while GW was sent packing by the Russell County squad in the state quarterfinals. … Radford holds a 35-22-1 edge in the series since 1951. Prediction: Radford 21, George Wythe 10 John Battle at No. 7 Abingdon Last meeting: Abingdon 60, John Battle 20 (Aug. 29, 2014 in Bristol, Va.) This game might bring back nightmares for John Battle fans. Behind the dominant play of quarterback Jake Sturgill and running back Raequon Jordan, AHS built a 47-0 halftime lead. Just two days later, first-year Battle head coach Brian Lee resigned. The highlight for the Trojans was the play of quarterback Matt Tipton, who passed for two scores. … Abingdon must find a running threat to replace Jordan, but Sturgill is surrounded by a cast of tall and sure-handed receivers who excel in the quick-fire spread offense employed by head coach Darren Reed. … John Battle experienced mixed results in the preseason. After being overwhelmed by the power of J.I. Burton, the Trojans tied Fort Chiswell 7-7 last week as senior Seth Leonard supplied a touchdown. … At the start of practice, new Battle coach Britt Stone greeted 18 seniors among a roster of 67. … Michael Musser provides power at running back and linebacker, while Tipton is creative. … The quick pace of AHS will be too much for Battle. Prediction: Abingdon 35, John Battle 7
  4. So Richlands still cannot make the wcyb top 5 in VA.....
  5. mass confusion from the refs to the press box. Sidelide official on richlands side I believe might be one of the worst officials ive seen. The whole group needs to regroup and rem the fundamentals. I am also at the game but would like to know what the radio has to say....
  6. You post a picture on twitter of you laughing???? Lol #needtogrowup
  7. And you should have seen his Facebook, he said he wanted to beat the bulldogs....how dare him...lol #sarcasm
  8. Really twitter wars... You must be a middle schooler, with the way you are complaining...
  9. Yea, calling a 17 yr old a punk during an emotional game...you got it all figured out, I bet you think 2 yr olds should always know how to share toys so they won't be punks either. I guess he needs to be 27 and in the NFL where there would be nothing wrong with it, where they should be able to control themselves since they are adults. The only punk here is you, with your "dumbass" remarks
  10. Officials have to realize these are kids and know it doesn't need to be taken to that level to suspend a player on either side of the ball for that matter
  11. A suspension in general is overkill. Lets just hope it's not right about the 2 game
  12. Other coaches on the sideline told them 2 and Mance said he thought it would be 1 but would have to figure that stuff out after the game
  13. Half time at Richlands and according to the radio AJ Johnson is ejected for the game and officials also determined next two games as well. Some really odd officiating today. The pass interference penalty on the first score assessed on the kick off and the 3rd down turned to 4th down for tazewell which said that the delay of game was also loss of down.
  14. Now that might be the dumbest thing said in this thread....Richlands won and was clearly the better team on both sides of the ball. Richlands only punted the ball one time, 3 turnovers 2 inside their own red zone....moved the bal at will...Union had to have help from Richlands to move the ball....to say that Union was the best team just confirms how little you know about football.
  15. I am not sure if you watched most of the game but i was on the sidelines and continually watched officals blow call after call, 45 did have a late hit out of bounds but that happens its football(hard to stop momentum) first play of the game Union player had a late hit on one of our players, don't see us complaining that he should be taken out of the game...so get over yourself, the game was lucky to be close, only one score of Union was unassisted by the men in stripes. Don't understand how a Union RB can lower his helmet and a richlands player hits him with his face guard and it is a personal foul on richlands and it happened twice. The phantom pass interference call in the first half and then when a union player intentionally grabs the jersey of a richlands player catching a deep ball it wasn't called. Richlands made their mistake with offsides and the one personal foul but its not a stretch to say that the rest weren't extremely questionable. I think you should take that same film you are talking about and share it with VHSL for the rest of the calls that were made. Even the last personal foul was called "style yards" on the radio because of the acting job of that one player. Maybe i expect too much from HS officals but tonight it was surely lacking and it seems they are the same officals that are going to be used as replacements on Sundays.....
  16. The Super 7 Team Record 1. George Wythe (4) 9-0 2. Richlands (1) 9-0 3. Clintwood 7-2 4. Rural Retreat 8-1 5. Gate City 6-3 6. Sullivan East 7-3 7. Castlewood 7-3 (First-place votes in parenthesis) Others receiving votes: J.I. Burton, Honaker The Predictions No. 4 Rural Retreat at No. 1 George Wythe Last meeting: George Wythe 31, Rural Retreat 20 (Oct. 29, 2010 in Rural Retreat, Va.) The Hogoheegee District’s game of the year will be played out in front of a packed house tonight at Pendleton Field. … Rural Retreat (8-1) has won six straight and the Indians’ lone loss came to highly-toutedGrayson County back in September. ... George Wythe is 9-0 and has been impressive in those nine wins. The Maroons are averaging 44.2 points per game and are giving up just 7.4 points per contest. … The key for Rural Retreat will be to contain George Wythe’s speedy backfield. That means guys like Jordan Kelly (45 solo tackles, five sacks) and defensive back Heath Martin (three interceptions) will have to step up on defense. … The atmosphere surrounding this game will be electric. However, George Wythe just has too many weapons for Rural Retreat to completely slow down. Prediction: George Wythe 33, Rural Retreat 16 No. 2 Richlands at Tazewell Last meeting: Richlands 58, Tazewell 13 (Oct. 1, 2010 in Richlands, Va.) Richlands, which has won eight straight SWD titles, can name the score in this mismatch against the depleted Bulldogs. With a potent mixture of size, strength and balance, the Blues have outscored their past five foes by an average score of 49-10. ….First-year starting quarterback Reece Strong has thrown for 17 touchdowns. … Look for big performances from unheralded Richlands players such as sophomores Colton Staten and Ben Brown and junior Zach Horton. … Over its past four games, Tazewell has averaged just three points with two shutouts….Tazewell, which has lost 10 straight games, compiled just 32 total yards last week at Abingdon. The Falcons had 349 total yards. … Richlands accounted for 387 total yards against Tazewell last season and opened a 44-0 halftime lead. Manuel Sheppard led the Bulldogs with 54 yards rushing while Bradley Strong had 147 yards receiving….Richlands, which will have a first-round playoff bye, is facing yet another rematch against Cave Springs in the regional finals. Prediction: Richlands 59, Tazewell 0 No. 5 Gate City at No. 3 Clintwood Last meeting: Gate City 28, Clintwood 27 (Oct. 10, 2008 in Clintwood, Va.) The Lonesome Pine District champion (Clintwood) squares off with the Clinch Mountain District’s best (Gate City) tonight at Ralph Cummins Stadium. … Clintwood has won six straight and clinched the LPD title with a 46-8 victory over Wise County Central last week. … Gate City also enters the game on a six-game winnings streak and secured the CMD crown with a 14-6 win over Lee High last week. … This showdown between perennial Southwest Virginia powers will feature power running, hard hitting and passionate fanbases. No surprise since that’s what both programs have long been known for. Prediction: Clintwood 28, Gate City 26 No. 6 Sullivan East at Carter Last meeting: First meeting The opening round of the TSSAA Class 4A playoffs will be the first time these two schools face off on the gridiron, but the No. 5 seeded Patriots and No. 4 Hornets are no strangers when it comes to postseason showdowns. In its first ever boys basketball sub-state appearance in March 2010, Sullivan East fell 57-54 to Carter in an overtime thriller. … Neither school can claim much of a football tradition. East (7-3) has just one playoff win in school history and qualified for the postseason this year for just the third time in 43 years of play. Carter (6-4) last made the postseason in 2008 and has just one postseason win dating back to 2000. ... While East has the better 2011 record, the Patriots’ loss last week to Elizabethton bumped them down to the third spot in the District 1 standings, which trumps everything else when it comes to playoff seeding. Carter, on the other hand, had a 4-2 record in District 3, good enough for second place by virtue of edging Austin-East 13-12 in their head-to-head matchup. … The winner of this game is likely to face defending state champion and No. 1 seed Greeneville next week. … Carter’s tougher regular-season schedule and home-field advantage will give the Hornets the edge tonight. Prediction: Carter 35, Sullivan East 24
  17. It looks like Sacco gave a first place vote to Richlands this week!
  18. Super 7 Team Record 1. George Wythe (4) 8-0 2. Richlands (1) 9-0 3. Clintwood 6-2 4. Rural Retreat 7-1 5. Gate City 5-3 6. Sullivan East 7-3 7. J.I. Burton 7-1 First-place votes in parenthesis The Predictions No. 1 George Wythe at Holston Last meeting: George Wythe 38, Holston 3 (Oct. 22, 2010 in Wytheville, Va.) George Wythe continues to chug along. The Maroons have outscored three Hogoheegee District foes by a combined 166-24. … Running backs Hunter Tolley, Jonathan Turpin and Isaac Young have all rushed for more than 500 yards for GW. The wealth has been spread around as part of the Maroons’ Wing-T offense. … Holston hasn’t beaten George Wythe since 1991. … The top two kickers in the district will be featured in this one – GW’s Mikel Hawks and Holston’s Ethan Miller. … George Wythe can’t be looking ahead to next week’s showdown with that Rural Retreat. That being said, the Maroons just have too many weapons for Holston to contain. Prediction: George Wythe 43, Holston 10 Wise County Central at No. 3 Clintwood Last meeting: First meeting First place in the LPD will be on the line tonight at Ralph Cummins Stadium. … Clintwood can clinch the league title with a victory. … Both teams are playing well. Central has won four straight, while Clintwood enters the game on a five-game winning streak. … This will be an old school coalfield clash as both teams rely on big lines and a power running game. Clintwood’s Austin Dotson and Central’s Joe Burnopp are two of the area’s most bruising backs. … Wise County Central was picked last in the LPD preseason coaches poll, but the Warriors have silenced many critics. The Warriors have the best record of any of the three new consolidated Wise County schools. … Clintwood hasn’t lost a district game at home since 2006. That impressive streak continues tonight. Prediction: Clintwood 28, Wise County Central 20 Northwood at No. 4 Rural Retreat Last meeting: Rural Retreat 49, Northwood 28 (Oct. 22, 2010) At 7-1, Rural Retreat is off to its best start since 2005. An experienced line, heady quarterback and depth at the skill positions have been a major factor to the success. … In last year’s win over Northwood, six different players scored touchdowns for Rural Retreat. Quarterback Zayne Williams threw two touchdown passes to Travis Foster in the win. The Williams-to-Foster connection is still alive and well at Rural Retreat and that could spell trouble for Northwood. … The Panthers are allowing 33 points per game. That’s a bad sign against a team with many offensive options. Prediction: Rural Retreat 40, Northwood 8 Lee at No. 5 Gate City Last meeting: Gate City 33, Lee 7 (Oct. 29, 2010 in Ben Hur, Va.) This might be toughest matchup of the season for prolific Lee running back Tyler Graham. The elusive and strong senior averages 13.1 yards per rush and 281 yards rushing per game. Graham has topped the 200-yard mark in five of his seven games this season. … Gate City junior quarterback Nick Bowen has distributed nine touchdown passes among four different receivers. Six-foot-one sophomore receiver Michael Collier has emerged a big weapon in recent games along with speedy senior Tyler Bird. … Payton Sivert, Micah Bledsoe, Seaver Elliott and Derick Miller are among the deep corps of Gate City thumpers. … Zack Parsons (53 tackles) and Grant Rutherford (32 tackles) are the leading stoppers for the leaky Lee defense, which allows 33 points per game. …The Generals have attempted a total of 15 passes, completing four for 33 yards. …Gate City rushed for 297 yards in this game last year while Lee managed just 167 total yards. … Gate City will clinch yet another CMD title tonight in style. Prediction: Gate City 42, Lee 14 No. 7 J.I. Burton at Union Last meeting: First meeting While not the marquee game in the Lonesome Pine District, this one should still be pretty good. … Burton lost to Clintwood two weeks ago, but bounced back with an easy win over Johnson County last Friday. While the Raiders’ running game continues to churn up the yards and post impressive numbers, Burton quarterback Tanner Crowder is solid. He’s passed for 912 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. … Union has lost four straight and after a preseason full of hype the Bears have not lived up to expectations. The team has allowed 30 points per game during its current losing skid. … Union has played in five games that have been decided by five points or less. This one will be close as well, but the Bears could fall short once again. Prediction: J.I. Burton 31, Union 28
  19. Hence Austin Fuller from Richlands in years past.
