  1. Your welcome Redtiger. Someone else said something about King William. I am not sure where these schools are located so I really don't know. It would be a mute point if CB wins, they only lost to Essex by 8 in the regular season. Also both Tigers have to win which I hope they do. Good luck to both Tigers this weekend.

  2. I got this from VAPREPS. It is my understanding that if Essex wins they will have to move the game. They also said that CB couldn't host either. Here is one of the comments.

Northumberland would be the only one that may meet the VHSL requirements. It's the only school with permanent bleachers on the visitors side. All other schools use protable bleachers (the kind you might find at a baseball field) on the visitors side. Essex really lacks on restroom and concession stand facilities. And the lighting was installed in the mid-70s. Most folks in these parts prefer to stand at the games. Look in the home bleachers at some game and there is plenty of open seating but lots of fans along the fence line.
  3. So im hearing a rumor that after complaints to the VHSL it has been ruled that the Essex HS facility is unfit to host Semifinal games. Anyone heard anything?

Looking at the neighboring schools I think only King WIlliam would be suiteable. The others are either no better than Essex or farther away for Haysi/Galax and (unless im mistaken) cant be used.

On another note, Haysis field was in good shape after last week but with this weather who knows what it will be like Saturday

Where did Fort play Essex at last year?

  4. Thanks razor and bigrhsfan, I heard from a friend the other day that haysi/Clint wood team is joining the southwest district can anyone confirm that? Or just word of mouth..

I don't think so. Last I heard they were going to join the Mountain Dist. with GC, Union ect.

  5. All Clintwood heard leading up to their game with Sussex in 2011 was how much faster Sussex was then any team Clintwood had ever seen. Clintwood had no chance of beating them. They had just beat Covington 88-8 the week before and Clintwood held them to 8 points. They did it by hitting them in the mouth on every play. It took our o a little while to get anywhere but over time we wore them down. Also Clintwood was playing with a back up QB our starter got hurt the week before at GW. I know Gate City win or lose will give it thier all and never give up. They will be hitting just as hard in the 4th as they do in the 1st reguardless of the score.

  6. Very good info martrip. I think it helps. I wouldnt want to pull the 9 seed and play every game on the road but 1-2 doesnt hurt and I really think can help. Maybe it breaks up the repretition and gets them focused

I agree. Clintwood was a 3 seed I believe. They had to play at GW and Sussex. I could be wrong but I believe both GW and Altavista were 2 seeds. GW played at Franklin and of course Altavista played at Haysi.

  7. I think the #2 is a good spot. Idk abything about W&L other than their record but I do know about Altavista and I would rather not have to worry about them until the state title game. West #1 will get some good matchups but Altavista is standing between them and Salem, and thats a TALL order.

Having to travel(regardless of how far) isint a bad thing before the state game. I see it as preparing to play away from home vs a good team. I think I would rather do that than play at home then travel to Salem after playing 5 straight home games.

The first year they did this Clintwood had to go on the road, the second year GW had to and last year Altavista did.
