What, not enough big time recruits this year? Couldn't get any local talent to rent a trailer down in Cedar Bluff for the season?

I think they ran it kinda like baseball. They traded off all their younger prospects in years past for players to come in right away and help. Now they don't have anyone to trade for a top player and they have to start building from the bottom again. Atleast in my head that's the way I like to think its went...

Still some sour grapes there obviously. I have to laugh at teams/fans that lose to a team and run their yaps when some other team does what they couldn't. As bad as Central is tonight Grundy must be HORRIBLE:)

Hardly sour grapes.. If you cant tell I'm making fun of you and your team for barely beating a team who I personally assumed would win by much more and then you coming on here and complaining about the grass and linking an article doing the same.

Ray Jones mooning the fans from big creek was mine.

My mother in law had Ray in class during her days at Garden High and told us that one time Ray was driving home after practice in a hurry to catch a game on tv. During this time apparently somewhere along the way his wife's car had broken down and she was walking to the nearest house to call someone to come help. In his hurry to get home he drove right passed her and went home to watch the game.

Those are great numbers for Grundy.  The were down around 20 just a couple of years ago right?

Most I can remember Grundy having in the last 20 years. My senior year we had 28 and that was after going to two straight region championships.

  7. Not sure if they still do or not (haven't lived in Grundy in a couple years) but I know a few years ago they had youth leagues In the county. Pretty sure every year they also had a camp  with some maybe pro players as the instructors? I think the issue with soccer in Grundy is that most of your better athletes just don't play soccer.

  8. I heard Mance is Quitting after this year because next years recruiting class looked a little weak and the travel budget was being cut. Also heard that Colobro quit because they were buying him coffe for his office but no cups. Well that and Milo was critiquing his playbook every morning when he came in.... Not really but this is the best thread in weeks and its the offseason.

  9. Speaking from someone who came up in the Grundy program I can tell you first hand that Mr. Robertson's help has been a huge part of the programs success. Also starting at sometimes even as young as 4 years old kids are on the mat "competing" and learning the sport. They travel to tournaments all over the state and mid atlantic at a fairly young age wrestling the best around. The facility's that we have are just as good as some/most college programs with our weight room and wrestling room. During summer its not uncommon for the older kids to go to a wrestling camp at Iowa that last two weeks and is in my own memory "hell on earth".  As Barondawg77 said it also has a lot to do with the culture of the town and fans as well. The parents have just as much to do with the success as the kids in some ways. Its not easy waking up a 5 am just to take your kid to a morning run or spending hours on the road just to sit several more hours on hard bleachers in a old gym. I could probably go on longer about the topic but that's just a few things. FYI most people in the town have the same passion about the subject lol
