  1. "And I can promise you Giles and James Monroe will never play again unless the Mavs want to play at Giles every year and I doubt that will ever happen" And what a shame that is.
  2. I wish James Monroe and Giles would play again. The gate for that game was a good one and it turned into quite a rivalry. And, yes, Bluefield has played JM for years, including the single wing years. I doubt that's any problem for Bluefield.
  3. Why, thanks, GMan. Who ever said you weren't a "nice" guy!::rolleyes:
  4. Just a question if any of you ever go over to WV Preps. Is that now a subscription only message board? Thanks.
  5. Travel can really be a grind. In 2008, James Monroe traveled almost 1400 miles (roundtrip) during just the playoffs. We traveled to Chapmanville, WV, (below Charleston) Weirton, WV (northern panhandle) and back to New Martinsville, WV (north, along Ohio River.) (But oh how I wish for those days!:()
  6. Oh, there are still a few of us out here. James Monroe is definitely going through a rough patch. Not since the school opened have we had such disappointing back-to-back seasons, but I think most people saw it coming. Size, athletic ability, mental toughness, have all taken a hit. I'm not sure how Coach Witt would have done. I'll admit that, as a fan, I really liked watching the single wing - especially with the O-line of that team that played Bluefield for the championship. If Witt had thrown in a little more passing (Giles does employ that) it would have been great! Like Kevin, though, I think some improvement is in the making. Given the rural nature of our county and the limited job opportunities, James Monroe doesn't see much new blood or that outstanding athlete that just moves into the County to give us that extra boost; and when injuries or other problems hit, it really makes us pretty thin. BUT, I believe better things will come, and I would hope that Bluefield doesn't drop us from their schedule. It is, from our standpoint, a rivalry that we hope to make pretty competitive again.
  7. I don't know anything about Gate City. I do believe, however, the Beavers will have no problems with River View. Bluefield would probably have no trouble hanging 60+ on the Raiders if they choose.
  8. I believe you'll find the answer in a Jr. League baseball incident.
  9. I think it's funny that the same fan base who threw hot chocolate on our band members at Wheeling two years ago would talk about class:(
