Yes. Our Little League season ended early because of it. The Redskins just didn't have enough to field their Varsity team this year as only 5 showed up. They tried pulling some up from JV but it was too much on the younger ones having to play two games a night. Travel ball just started practice yesterday and numbers are low there as well. We may be lucky to field the 8u team. Should have enough for the 10u and 12u teams. Lee had some of the best numbers for travel last year of any of the teams I saw.

I know some of the younger North kids are coming over next year.

There will be a coaching change this year. 2019 is school board elections. Most of our school board needs replaced no matter what they do and I'm not saying it due to sports. There is so much more important issues than sports alone. That's why I hope we have some folks run that are good enough to replace the ones we have now. Like above posts said. GC is about five years away from turning this program around if they make the right hire. I love Reeds effort he puts into football. I am willing to give him a chance if no better candidate applies.

Abingdon 49 and Gate City 7 if Abingdon puts in their 3rd string. Hopefully the Sullivan South defense is bad enough to let GC score more that one td next week.

Really don't know how good Norton is. I know how bad GC is. Norton is likely better than GC. Richland could have used some of their cheerleaders in the lineup and still beat GC as bad. Factor in the rivalry. If its a shootout I say Union by a td. If a defense battle Richlands by a field goal. The Richlands kicker has the ability of kicking 50+ yard field goals. 60+ would not be surprising.

My only gripe is we know we are going to lose this year. Lets lose playing true Gate City football and scrap that pistol junk. It really doesn't matter I guess though. Losing is losing and its going to be a long tough year.

He seemed to be plagued by injuries last season.

They got last years score wrong. I think it was 27-6.

They had just enough at the beginning with some jv playing up. Not sure why they quit. Gone are the days of parents making their kids follow through with their commitments. I tell my kids that once they commit to something they will see it through.

I'm going to piggy back off of you now. lol. The numbers on the redskins have now declined to were they can no longer field a varsity team. The two kids that still want to play practiced with the Rams Varsity this evening. This is the first time this has happened in our little league.

I can see a 3 way battle in the M7 with Abingdon, Union, and Ridgeview.

I think Union should keep Mo West and drop Letcher.

I had a sip of that koolaid about the AD last year. Then I watched him go above and beyond to get students to the away basketball playoff games. There is so much more at play and I can't put any blame on him. Like you said. He doesn't have as much control as people thinks.

I will be highly surprised if the Gate City offense scores more than two tds in the first 5 games.
