A good friend of mine has kids that go to LB and he says they don't have a very good QB and that SR has 2 good RBs. He expects LB to lose, but you never know. Yeah, first things first...we gotta beat Marion for any of this to matter. I was just looking at the rankings and the spread between us and SR. I really want the AHS kids to know what's on the line possibly....2 home playoff games. Surely that would motivate them.
-
So 8-1 Lord Botetourt (ranked 6th) plays 8-1 Staunton River (ranked 4th, right behind AHS) to close out the regular season. AHS is .90 points ahead of SR. We play 7-2 Marion this week. If AHS and SR both win this week is there any way AHS stays in 3rd? (assuming teams ranked 1 and 2 win)
-
We had to travel to Broadway 2 years ago and that's more than 4 hours...ugh, trust me. But I believe that was reeds choice, like Ryan said. Wanted to play on Friday for symmetry reasons. It was colder than a witches tit in a brass bra doing push ups in the snow.
-
I agree. I wasn't inferring that they lost to bad teams...I just truly could not remember who they lost to. This game is often decided by who wants it more...regardless of talent.
-
They predict AHS making it to semi's in the west losing to Rustburg by 2. That's if all teams that are supposed to win (by ranking) do. And also, that's if I did it correctly, and it's based on current rankings. I have AHS playing Tunstall in rd 1 and then Lord Botetourt rd 2 and then Rustburg in rd 3.
AHS 42 Tunstall 10
AHS 35 LB 31
AHS 26 Rustburg 28
I put in Brookville (ranked #1) vs Staunton River (ranked 4) and it predicted Staiunton River to win 31-24.
I realize that I may have done the brackets wrong.
-
What games did Marion lose this year? I know they were early in the season but I can't remember who they lost to.
-
The opportunity to play 2 home games (if they win the first!) is on the line for AHS. Hope that's motivstion enough for them!

The one thing I can tell you for sure is that Sturgill won't go 3-25.
-
Wow....3 for 25??? That's amazing.

I'm going back and forth on my pick'em with this game. I think lee is the better team but JSB needs this one and its at their place. I still went Lee. Toughest decision for me this week.
-
Does anybody know if he has any interest in UT? Don't give me grief..serious question.
-
-
What worries me is that even If AHS wins out they could still fall in the rankings. True?
-
Winning helps atmosphere more than anything. Look at Abingdon as a prime example. My sons senior year was Reeds first....and I have never seen the stadium as packed as it was the night we played, and finally beat, Richlands. There were more people there for that game than all season combined in Bowles' final year. The thing I miss at AHS concessions are Chik-Fil-A sandwiches. I realize that's not very nostalgic, but I enjoy a good chicken sandwich. I agree though, the hot dogs are pretty good. If you don't limit yourself to high school stadiums, Neyland has the very best hot dogs period. Well, that's about the only stadium I go to with any regularity, so my opinion is limited to Neyland...but man they are good!
-
Let'em have Bowles for a year and they'll realize what they have in Mance. Lol

Ryan, do you agree with my assssment that RHS is a "big play" team? With less room, i.e. Inside the 10, they may struggle moreso than usual because of less room for Howie and gang to get open. Has the offense had a lot of opportunities in the red zone or has most of JLA's TD passes been over 20 yds? I'm guessing you don't have those stats at your fingertips, but just from your memory, have most of their TDs come form outside the 20? I may be way off, as I've only seen the game against AHS, but I've been a part of a team that had that exact scenario...just need plenty of room for the WRs to do their thing. Thoughts?
-
AHS moved up to 3rd in 3A. RHS is at 2nd in 2A.

i hope they get Pulaski. Much rather see that game. No disrespect to Boothe, et al, but im afraid Sturgill may have us spoiled. I have no idea what's behind the Juniors as far as talent...so my concern may be unfounded. But Sturgill isn't an every year talent.
-
What's the update on Humphrey? I've heard broken leg....is that not accurate?
-
I'd love to see them play these teams!

TMI...
Lol. This is the first post attempting to excuse RHS from defeat. It's definitely the outlier. I will gladly say that the remainder of Richlands posters on here (about 87% of all posters...lol) have been very humble and gracious. I'm very appreciative of the sportsmanship and it has not gone unnoticed, by me, at least. Well done and thank you.
