  1. [sent this comment to the proper thread....I hope, lol]
  2. I'm thinking they were either just really stupid (probably drunk) and jumped...or suicidal and jumped. No way this was an accident.
  3. http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/05/09/18143580-two-passengers-vanish-from-carnival-cruise-ship?lite Seriously, how much more can happen with Carnival cruises? At least this wasn't a major ship malfunction or something along those lines....but still tragic nonetheless.
  4. If you get on I-81 heading south, just take Exit 66, take a left off the exit on 126 E, then a right onto Shipley Ferry Road (you'll be able to see the school, probably from the interstate, it's a bunch of round, dome-like buildings).
  5. http://now.msn.com/track-team-finger-point-leads-to-disqualification-of-derrick-hayes?ocid=ansnowex A Texas high school track team was disqualified from a track meet, which stopped them from competing in state, because the anchor of one of the relay teams pointed to the sky after crossing the finish line. The school said it's because he broke the "excessive celebration" rule. I get them wanting the teams to show good sportsmanship and not gloat or anything, but it's not like he broke into song and dance or anything...he just pointed at the sky. Seems really ridiculous and not "excessive" at all.
  6. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/05/06/18089279-air-forces-sex-abuse-prevention-honcho-charged-with-sexual-battery?lite The head of the Air Force's sex abuse prevention unit was arrested for groping a woman in a parking lot in Arlington, VA, while he was drunk.....ironic, isn't it?
  7. I haven't been to too many college level or pro level sporting events (I have been to TONS of high school level events), but I've seen way more violence (almost always with the parents) at the levels below high school than high school, college, and pro combined. Usually it's with a rec ball program where everyone has known each other for years.
  8. http://gawker.com/soccer-referee-dies-after-being-punched-in-face-by-teen-492130727 A referee of a soccer match died from injuries from a punch to the face he recieved from a 17 year old player. He had just cited the player a yellow card and was jotting it down in his notebook when the player punched him in the face. He died after his condition worsened in the hospital.
  9. I think this proves that not only does VHS have good athletes, they've got a good coach in Daniels as well. Last year had just as many good players, but no Daniels and look at their record. This year, he's back and they're killing it. I just wish Battle could get out of their funk. Maybe next year since we'll be loaded with seniors.
  10. I say meat, taters, bread, and milk. Beef em up and keep em active!
  11. Some of these changes aren't that bad, but portion size is what I'm worried about. I know the concept of not over eating, but I've been in a lot of schools the last few years and ate lunches at all of them and they just aren't feeding the kids ENOUGH food IMO. My first year in the school system as a substitute teacher and observing classes as part of my education major, most of the lunches were fine, even great. But this year especially has been bad. I can't tell you how many kids I've had (and heard this from the regular teachers too) who didn't get enough to eat. Sometimes, I'd even have a teacher go to the cafeteria to pick up some fruit or something for the kids to eat after lunch to get them through the day. There are a whole lot of kids who don't eat enough outside of school (and many of them don't hardly eat at all outside of school) so they suffer the most when all the school's lunch contains is something like one 3 inch long burrito, a very small scoop of beans and corn, and a juice box (this was an actual government approved lunch at one elementary school I was student teaching at...it was pathetic).
  12. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/30/redskins-name-change-redtails_n_3186761.html Opinions? Personally, I really hope they keep the Redskins name. Even though I'm a Dallas fan, it'd still be weird that our main rivals change their name. Nothing against the Redtails, but I do think they could come up with a better name though. What would their logo be? A plane? Jets tried that and I don't think it's that good of a look.
  13. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/la-na-tupelo-arrest-20130428,0,7973655.story Wow.
  14. I think everyone got their fill of qb drafts the last few years...now they need better people to protect them.
  15. That's what I was thinking. But at least they're taking baby steps and not picking up another mess of talented RBs who won't be able to run because of the weak line. Start with a good line, then build around it.
  16. I know a lot of people didn't like Dallas's first pick, but I'm just glad they went for an offensive lineman rather than another runningback. Seems like every year they want more RBs and then wonder in the season why their running game isn't better than it is. They need to do something about defense too. Those guys were just too injury prone last year and it cost them.
  17. So we'll be calling it the CFP? Sounds like some medical term.
  18. Forgot to mention that we don't want any money for him.....he's free to a good home.
  19. I have a dog that needs a good home asap. My family can't afford to keep him and he's just not getting the attention he needs (his lot is also in pitiful shape, but we can't let him roam free because of the neighbors). He's a male chow/lab mix, about 5 or 6 years old, has had his shots, is not neutered, and is very playful 24/7. I've tried contacting no-kill shelters (I don't want to send him to a regular one) but they're all full. If anyone knows of a place to send him or of anyone who wants a dog, just send me a pm or comment on here. Whoever gets him can also have the doghouse we built, it's wood with a metal roof and really sturdy.
  20. http://lolchamp.com/guns-dont-kill-people-2#09p2zwvUWFPVF41D.01\ I thought this was pretty funny.
  21. http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/2013/04/20/entry-cont/iTh7ZwiXqS82SCsaakNU5O/story.html The ACLU is concerned that the interrogation team that will question this guy won't read him the Miranda Rights by using the exception to the rule. This guy is a terrorist and who knows if there are others working with him. I say get as much info out of him as possible as soon as possible.
  22. http://www.denverpost.com/nationworld/ci_23069231/attorney-man-accused-sending-ricin-laced-letters-innocent Well, the Mississippi guy might not be the one who sent the letters.....either that or the FBI's just not doing a very good job.
  23. That is weird. I don't think I've ever seen a schedule like that before.
