  1. Thundercloud, Maybe I should edit that post to say I HOPE that the west side rep wins the state championship. I feel confident that Brookville, Northside or Richlands will be there for the west. The east will most likely bring Lafayette, York, Kettle Run or James Monroe. Lafayette worries me the most but I still feel that the trophy comes west this year......Atleast I Hope it does.
  2. Ryan, I'm certainly not saying Richlands doesn't have chance. I was just pointing out to someone else's post who Richlands may be playing. I have seen Cave twice and Richlands twice. I think Richlands wins easily. I have also seen Brookville and Northside twice this year. I don't know who will win in Region 3 but either way the two teams that meet in Richlands for the state semifinals will each be seeing the best team they have seen all year. In fact I think the winner of that game will win the state championship. Yes, I would say that Richlands has the best chance of any team to win it all because they will be at home and there is not much risk that Cave will slow them down.
  3. I think Northside learned their lesson with Pulaski on Saturday games. They left Pulaski on Friday night after the thunderstorm at 11pm and was back on the bus at 730 the next morning to fight Va Tech traffic for a 1pm game and played rather sluggishly. They will be in the Richlands area on Friday evening if they make it past Brookville. I'm not trying to say that Northside played all top 10 teams this year but it is tough to go undefeated against their schedule. Richlands also has a very impressive string of regular season wins so i would think that most Blues fans know what it take to come out on top every week. Afterall, when teams show up to play the elite teams like Richlands and Northside it is their Super Bowl. I look forward to the State semifinal game as it will probably be a matchup of two teams that have not lost this season.
  4. Richlands toughest opponent was Pulaski. Northside's weekest was Pulaski. Cave Spring is actually one of Northside's weekest opponents also. Just like Richlands other schools cannot control their district schedule but when your out of district consists of Salem, Amherst, Pulaski, Cave and Hidden Valley...... and you make it thru undefeated I would say that would be murderous for most little division 3 teams.
  5. I think Cave Spring will provide some resistance.....But Richlands will still win by 2 scores. I have seen both teams this year. They have similar backs in Johnson and Wright but I think Richlands has better coaching and a little better passing attack.
  6. I expect to see Northside travel to Richlands for the state semifinal game. Brookville does not have the toughest schedule but they have done a good job of taking care of business. Northside is undefeated against a murderous schedule despite only having 4 starters on defense healthy for the last month. Also, Northside has a very active scouting dept. They have had people at every Brookville, Cave Spring and Richlands game this year.
  7. My wife says I'm 13 but my body says I'm 63 so I guess you can put me down for an average age of 43.
  8. What most people refer to as power points are the total of points received. For instance you receive 20 points for a victory over a AA team. The Rating points are derived by dividing the total points by the number of games played. This way a team that has played 8 games can be compared to a team that has played 7 games. Rating points is what counts.
  9. NAW, They think the state ends in Richmond/Charlottesville.
  10. I take it that you guys don't count Roanoke as SWVA.
  11. I agree, even Adrian Peterson would look like an idiot without a great line. But, when you have the combo of a great line and a once in a lifetime back you start seeing the kind of stats we are seeing this year.
  12. I don't find them anywhere. I do the math myself Region III Div 3 1. Northside......26.000 2. Brookville......23.714 3. R.E.Lee........22.833 4. Rockbridge....22.833 5. Rustburg......17.714 6. Fort Defiance.17.666 ---------------------- 7. Alleghany......16.333 RegionIII Div 4 1. Broadway......24.333 2. J. Forest.......23.500 3. Harrisonburg..22.000 4. Heritage.......21.000 5. Amherst.......30.333 6. Staunton Riv.18.333 ---------------------- 7. E.C.Glass.....18.000 I left out the bottom 3 teams in each division because they are virtually out of it anyway.
  13. IMO Cave will beat Blackburg and Pulaski. They WILL lose to CBurg. I would call Hidden Valley a toss up
  14. Division III 1. Richlands.....7-0....152....21.714 2. Cave Spring.4-2....124....20.666 3. Martinsville..2-4....97.....16.166 4. Tunstall......2-4....85.....14.166 5. Magna Vista...7-0....174....24.857 2. Christiansburg.6-0....144....24.000 3. Salem............4-2....131....21.833 4. Hidden Valley..4-2....125....20.833 5. Bassett..........2-5....119....17.000 6. 15. Helper, I agree. I was involved in the conversation because someone asked why A schools didn't just sign up to play AAA schools because of the points they would receive win or lose.
  16. Like I said "very few" I stand corrected on "if any" LOL Helper you know how this works. No A team is going to be able to fill it's non-district schedule with AAA teams just to get the points. Especially in an area like SWVA where there aren't any AAA teams.
  17. Any victory over a AAA team nets 24 points. It doesn't matter what classification the winning team is. I doubt there are very many if any AAA teams that would sign up to play a single A team as it would be a very high risk/low reward situation.
  18. That sounds like the AP poll which is derived from local news groups from around the state that tend to lean towards schools in their area. It is flawed to say the least. VAPREPS has Richlands at #8 which is probably a little more realistic
  19. I couldn't agree with you more Ryan. There is little or nothing Richlands can do about their schedule. I was just pointing out the math that happens as a result. Cave will not run the table in the River Ridge but even a loss to CBurg and will net Cave nearly as many points as Richlands will get for beating any one of the teams in the Southwest District. It would be very unfortunate to finish 10-0 and have to travel to a 8-2 teams stadium in the playoff. Richlands fan are stuck rooting Salem or Hidden Valley to beat Cave. Even if Richlands has to travel to Cave they will beat Cave by two scores as they are clearly the better team. It just sucks that Richlands may have to travel.
  20. The only problem I would have with Richlands schedule is that it puts Richlands in a position where they need help in order to host the Regional Championship game. Cave Spring is ahead of Richlands in the Region IV Division 3 playoff points eventhough Cave has lost a game. Even when Richlands wins their remaining games they will have to travel to Roanoke if Cave does not lose another game. In fact Cave may need to lose 2 more games in order for Richlands to have home field thru the playoffs. I would never want a schedule that puts my destiny into the hands of another team.
  21. I was at the game as a nuetral observer and I agree with your statement. The 1st hold you spoke about happened very close to the Richlands sideline so I doubt that most Richlands fans could see it over the players on the bench. I did not see the push in the back on the pass play but I did notice that several Richlands players were headed back to the original line of scrimmage before the play ended and before the ref announced the call. One of the Richlands players was chewing on his teamate pretty hard so my guess is that he saw it too. I can't speak for the other 2 penalties because I did not see them.
  22. Per Great State post on Preps. 1. Cave Spring........20.60 2. Richlands............20.00 3. Martinsville.........15.25 4. Tunstall.............14.00 5. Abingdon............10.75 6. Marion...............9.20 7. Patrick CO..........8.75 8. Tazewell............7.75 Richlands district schedule is not going to help much with the lack of bonus points they will receive. Northside beating Cave was a big help to Richlands but the Blues will need someone else to beat Cave also in order to move up to the top spot. If I was a Richlands fan I wouldn't worry too much about Cave running the table against the likes of CBurg and Salem.
  23. The kid is just out there playing football. The dad is doing enough to embarrass him. Are you guys trying to get the dad canned or the kid? or both?
  24. I saw Fisher last night. I believe he is playing. He is the best QB Salem has against a team like Northside anyway so Hill being out should be a non-issue
