WHSHokies 10 Report Share Posted March 5, 2005 I forgot the best second baseman in Southwest Virginia and hitter for Richlands: Travis Tatum. Sorry Travis!!!!

bluekick 11 Report Share Posted March 5, 2005 I think Williams had a few last year, too. That might have just been in practice though.
Blues_56 23 Report Share Posted March 5, 2005 Jeremy Keene is a senior and has always been a good hitter.

gotazbull 10 Author Report Share Posted March 5, 2005 so then was it arms and stanton who hit the homeruns in the jv championship game?
Blues_56 23 Report Share Posted March 5, 2005 No i think it was Stanton and D.J. Simmons..but it could have been Arms i cant remember now.
trainer 10 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 Stanton and Simmons homered in the J.V championship game. Stanton is a junior and Simmons is a sophomore.
Blues_82 10 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 Dj should be a junior and is the same age as stanton
kave06 10 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 We can't forget about Elswick,Alvis, and Remines from graham.
Blues_56 23 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 [ QUOTE ] Dj should be a junior and is the same age as stanton  [/ QUOTE ] He was held back in 8th grade.
trainer 10 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 i diddn't get to see but 4 Rhs j.v. games. But from what I saw Caleb Jennings, Simmons, and Stanton appeared to hit most consistently. I did get to go to the 15-16 tournament games in the state tournament and thought Stanton and Simmons killed the ball there. I know the shot Simmons hit at Pound would have been well out of any real baseball park. Its 360 down the left field line there.
Blues_56 23 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 Yea caleb had the best battin avg. off the team and yea that shot from DJ at pound was a good one, Stanton has always had a good bat. But lets just hope they can bring that to the Varsity.
trainer 10 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 are simmons and jennings playing varsity or J.V.? I think the Null kid should be moved to varsity also.
Blues_56 23 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 They're varsity. Null is still jv
trainer 10 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 shouldn't null have been moved up? i have no doubt he can hit at that level.
Blues_82 10 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Dj should be a junior and is the same age as stanton  [/ QUOTE ] He was held back in 8th grade.  [/ QUOTE ] yeah i know...trainer said that he was a sophomore and i just commented on that
trainer 10 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 the reason i mention moving all those sophomores up is that I think that Richlands is still a year away from being a beast. And I definitely think that hitters like that would be wasted at the J.V level.
booger 10 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 yeah thats what i think, there was a kid a couple of years ago who played center field, and he could hit the ball pretty good and was on the j.v. team, he did good on the all star teams too cant remember the name though? trainer 10 Report Share Posted March 6, 2005 i think zach helton played center 2 years ago. D.J. simmons played centerfield i believe last year.
