swva_fan 94 Report Share Posted April 9, 2005 Martinsburg is only playing 4 WV schools, playing 5 from VA, 1 from MD.
edrforshey 27 Author Report Share Posted April 10, 2005 Most of those Va. and Fort Hill Md. are only like a hour to hour half from Martinsburg. Unlike last year were the Bulldogs had to travel over 4 hours one way, 3 different weekends in a row to play their games. The main problem with Martinsburg only play 4 WV schools is that there is only 5 AAA schools over in the Eastern Panhandle. Hampshire, Hedgesville, Jefferson, Martinsburg, and Musselman. Martinsburg plays all 4 of them in the Cumberland Valley League + Fort Hill Md. The next closest WV AAA school is 2 1/2 away in Morgantown or University. swva_fan 94 Report Share Posted April 10, 2005 Surprised that there wasn't a second matchup with Bluefield, a home game for them this year. I know they traveled to Princeton, Bluefield, and Bassett on consecutive weeks last year. Seems like they would have a home game with them this year. edrforshey 27 Author Report Share Posted April 10, 2005 They were all only 1 year contracts. Why? No clue!! I know I would never agree to a 1 year deal, but Martinsburg had to agree to something last year. They couldn't find any teams to fill out their schedule. It was almost July when the Bluefield vs Martinsburg game was annnounced. It makes it hard on the AD always having to find 3-4 games a year to get 10 games. Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted April 10, 2005 It was my understanding that Martinsburg's didn't want a two-year deal with Bluefield because of them being merely a AA school. I guess their thought was play them for the one year since they needed the game and they'd have plenty of time to find another school of AAA size. It would appear they did just that... [/ QUOTE ] Yea that AA school "bluefield" that beat them while they were ranked #1 in AAA. I honestly think we coulda beat any team in the state in football this season. Maybe expcept for hunington, i think thats the team that beat martinsburg in the AAA championship game

beaverbaseball 10 Report Share Posted April 11, 2005 Would have been a excellent game if bluefield and morgantown played
wvhighcountry 10 Report Share Posted April 13, 2005 It would have been tough to beat Morgantown. I had a guy tell me that they were monsterous. But hey the Beavs wasnt so bad either. I heard they beat people by 30 points or more in every game.
bluefieldRocks 14 Report Share Posted April 13, 2005 yea they did most games!... our average score was
WeirFootball 10 Report Share Posted April 14, 2005 Morgantown's closest game was against Riverside, and they beat them by 24. Everyone of their games was a blowout. I think the top 3 teams in the state in any class were Morgantown at #1 and then Bluefield and Weir in either order. Wheeling Central is up there, but most of us know they are not a usual A school lol.
