total 12 Report Share Posted May 12, 2005 2 things i noticed: 1) Winfield's quarterback was 6'5 230 pounds? man what a field general... he has the frame, so if he has any ability, i'd say he's getting some college looks as QB. 2) did you notice how strong the AA representation is in the south? as i was looking at the north list, they just seemed to be mostly AAA, then when looking at the south, it seemed mostly AA. just speaks for our level of competition around here. beaverbaseball 10 Report Share Posted May 13, 2005 I wonder why Lucas Stone didnt make the north/south game
total 12 Report Share Posted May 13, 2005 a team is only allowed to be represented by 2 of it's players... and with a team like Bluefield had this past season, it would have been hard to pick who went. plus, i think it has something to do with the needs of the team... i mean - every team can't send their RB or they'd have a team of only RB's. so you have to fill the team. and maybe it wasn't that big a deal to Lucas, while this was something that both Rusty and Wells said they wanted. who knows
Bluefield_Rules 46 Author Report Share Posted May 13, 2005 [ QUOTE ] a team is only allowed to be represented by 2 of it's players [/ QUOTE ] That's what I thought too, but Wayne has three players on the team....

total 12 Report Share Posted May 13, 2005 huh... i wonder how that was pulled off??? Wayne the South team being coached by the Wayne head coach and assistants played a part?
footballfreak 10 Report Share Posted May 15, 2005 No. Harmon sent a letter to all the schools and each head coach submits 3 players and it says in the letter "Submit D-1 athletes first" then whoever the head coach wants to send. and the South or North head coach picks from the names of who he wants. WeirFootball 10 Report Share Posted May 15, 2005 Congrats to both Wells and Coeburn. Both are very talented players. I dont like the fact that each team can only have 2 members representing them. I understand they want to get kids from every team, but certain teams(ex. Morgantown, Bluefield, Weir, Martinsburg) have more than 2 kids deserving to play in the game. Chad Chappell is the only player from Weir participating. Zac Cooper was asked, but declined the invititation from what I understand b/c he will be at WVU most of the summer lifting and conditioning w/ the team. Both WR/DB Jack Crow and DB Justin Shumake were both 1st team all state selections, but I don't know if either was asked. Oh well, it's a great honor to be selected to the game and I can't wait to make the trip to Charleston for the second year in a row to watch it. Bluefield_Rules 46 Author Report Share Posted May 15, 2005 Looking at the rosters again I noticed something very smart the North coaching staff did and the South failed to do, which goes back to the discussion about "What about Lucas?" The North coach put a kicker/punter on his squad b/c knows that special teams is huge in the game of football. I'll take the North to win the game with the difference being an extra point, FG, or in the punting game. You cannot underestimate the importance of a good kicker, the North coach realize that and made sure he has a stud kicker. And traveling from Weir to the North/South game? Now that's dedicated a trip I wouldn't even think of making from Bluefield...lol
WeirFootball 10 Report Share Posted May 15, 2005 [ QUOTE ] And traveling from Weir to the North/South game? Now that's dedicated a trip I wouldn't even think of making from Bluefield...lol [/ QUOTE ] LOL It's only about a lil over 3 hour drive so it isn't that bad. I had a few friends play in the game last year and I'd like to see Chappell play in it this year. Me and a few friends just take a weekend trip to Charleston. It's usually a good time and I really enjoy the game.
