ShadyTiger3 10 Report Share Posted May 24, 2005 What does everyone think about a All-Star game for this area? Who would win such a game and why?
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted May 24, 2005 When you say Southwest Virginia, are you including the New River and Roanoke Valleys? And when you say Southern WV is that Beckley south or Charleston south? Many around the state consider Charleston to be in the southern part of the state and the dividing line so to speak. GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted May 25, 2005 I think that if you included everything SOUTH of Charleston and everything WEST of the New River Valley, that would make for a very good All-Star game. Of course if you included the Charleston area in WV and the Roaonke area in VA, that too would make for a very good All-Star game.

BigBlue02 11 Report Share Posted May 25, 2005 I wouldn't mind to catch a muskie or a pike out out of the new river. There really ain't that many in the Clinch but there are some big ole Catfish and Carp.
BigD4VT 11 Report Share Posted May 25, 2005 A friend of mine was bit in the chest when he caught a Muskie in the Clinch several years ago. He was wading and the fish jumped up and bit him. I've caught several HUGE turtles in the Clinch. Caught a lot of waterdogs in Indian Creek.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted May 25, 2005 Speaking of fishing, and I realize this is off-topic, but there was a guy on "Cold Pizza" this morning that caught a 124-pound catfish. I'm not sure where he caught it as I just saw the final few seconds of the interview.

BigD4VT 11 Report Share Posted May 25, 2005 I saw that too. It was nearly 5 feet long. They put it in an aquarium at "Cabella's".

hhstigerfan 12 Report Share Posted May 25, 2005 haha, the Clinch is great for catching "crappie" as in "jack crappie". Myself, I always enjoying trout fishing in Bastian and Big Tumblin'.
