SW_VA_boy 495 Report Share Posted December 20, 2005 Big Creek alum fired from Northside. HUH? 3rd winningest active coach in Timesland and they want to go in another direction. Some things I don't understand. http://www.wdbj7.com/global/category.asp?c=57484
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted December 20, 2005 You don't see many high school coaches actually fired, unless they do something negative off-the-field to warrant the firing. I guess he refused to step-down and they really wanted rid of him.
hoard 18 Report Share Posted December 20, 2005 Rumor has it this is to open the door for William Campbell's Brad Bradley, a Salem graduate, to take over at Northside.
WHSHokies 10 Report Share Posted December 20, 2005 They lost a great man and coach. I guess there is no place in this modern world, for hard workers, good role models and mature leaders. Good luck Jim in your retirement, you deserve a rest.

VHSLhelper 571 Report Share Posted December 26, 2005 Yeah, that's what you get for quoting someone and not mentioning it - makes YOU look bad when THEY made the mistake. Also, Hickam WASN'T fired - he's still a teacher. The School Board decided not to renew his coaching contract.
