hoops247 10 Report Share Posted September 26, 2006 hey, im with remington on this one. there is no way..no way, the man was suspended for yelling. there has to be more to the story or coach gregory has one whale of a law suit on his hands. And, i feel like im the only person who keeps saying that the school board has never given a reason as to why he was suspended...and, you know, i would bet that also has something to do with law suits. heck, im the first person to give abingdon heck...its not my favorite town and I really can't say that i like alot of people over there...but come on...NO WAY was the guy suspended for yelling. NO WAY
bluenecknation 17 Report Share Posted September 26, 2006 agree 100% more here then whats being told. with lawsuits these days the abingdon school board don't want to pay gregory any more than they have to.

BlueFalcons 10 Report Share Posted September 26, 2006 he yelled and cursed at some players and their parents got mad and the media got involved, which to me honestly isnt a reason to get suspended for, every coach does it. what else you want to kno? u want me to make up something?ok.. here we go.. he spit in someones face and started beating the crap out of him because he missed a tackle, then brutally raped our quaterback for throwing ten interceptions in one game, and he finally got caught for it.. BlueFalcons 10 Report Share Posted September 27, 2006 its not the team that cant handle the heat, its just a few players, soo dont base the whole team on 3 people, and yea 10 int is enough to where we should have a new quaterback by now...which we dont
old_school_blue 247 Report Share Posted September 27, 2006 You have to keep your eye on the prize. Having gone through a similar situation in my playing days I really sympathise with your football team. That is who really suffers in these situations. But, the only thing you can do is do what you've been doing, play football. Easier said than done, I know. You and your teamates have to realize that you have no control over this mess. Keep your heads up and keep plugging. Remember, what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger. GOOD LUCK! Brian Mitchell
bluenecknation 17 Report Share Posted September 27, 2006 muta nice post - when you play football in high school you play with heart & desire. football today has gone away from the older days of playing for your team & school w/ pride. olewave 44 Report Share Posted September 27, 2006 I think that Sam Mckinney being an old Abingdon boy, would be the perfect fit for them Falcons.
swvafball 10 Report Share Posted September 27, 2006 yeah - but they scr*wed him about 14-15 years ago...it will be hard to find anyone that will be able to, or want to, stay around. longest tenure as head football coach at abingdon is 9 years....enough said!! BigD4VT 11 Report Share Posted September 27, 2006 Who coached Abingdon in the early to mid 80's? They had some strong teams back then.
Observer77 12 Report Share Posted September 27, 2006 That would have been Larry Smith - dad of Virginia High's head coach Terry Smith, and yes they did have a very good program in those days.
SALTSHAKER 10 Report Share Posted September 27, 2006 Before that coach Burkett who is now the chairman of the Wash. Co school board. I bet not one of those parents would ? either one of those coaches Burkett or Smith. Also much different players.
swvafball 10 Report Share Posted September 28, 2006 and before coach burkett, coach bob buchanan....the best teams were in the mid to late 70s on up through the mid 80s....and yes - very different players. not all is lost though - they have played in a couple of region championship games in the last 12-14 years, but those were years that the region was down, so who knows.
