  1. My bad - I will edit my post - they haven't been the whipping boy of the SWD until the last 10 years; however, they have been the whipping boy of Graham since football existed
  2. GMAN - I know you like to hate on Abingdon every chance you get, but "many, many years" is not accurate. The last 10-12 years or so - yes; they didn't play them in the early/mid 90s - so that is out; they held their own through the 70s/80s - definitely not a "whipping boy" during that time
  3. The same way stewart (jib), godsey (jib), harrison (rr), and craig (gw) do - all were all-state, but no better than 2nd team all-SWVA.....not a knock on those guys, but that is what you are going to get in this area, especially with the single a and double a schools combined on the SWVA teams
  4. definitely....will be good for marion football program
  5. You better hope that they don't make the sweet sixteen....cuz if they can get there, watch out.....one of the most under-sized teams in the land beat one of the bigger/more physical teams in the country - regardless of how it happened....anything can happen in the ACC!! As far as the UNC shooting/turnovers, there was another team there playing defense too....
  6. First of all - I don't think Washington tripped Singler on purpose, and I think he got pushed in the incident with Nelson. With that said, all the talk about Coach K - if you don't respect what he has accomplished - you are an imbecile. If you don't like the way he has done it - that is fine because that is your opinion. I like Coach K, and it doesn't bother me when people talk about him - it does bother me when people act like he hasn't accomplished anything in his career at Duke. Now, Greenberg's comment bothered me - I think that he should have shown more control and professionalism in his comments - all coaches, good and bad, get vocal when coaching in a game, but after the game the really good ones never lose control (interviews/locker room/etc.). Again with Coach K, Im sure he does cuss often - but tell me that Gary Williams doesn't....nobody questions him, but then again he hasn't won as many games as Coach K
  7. and he still isn't eligible from what i hear....dont know if he will be eligible next year or not, but i think this spring is out
  8. no way - he is in administration if im not mistaken....and unless he would like to take a pay cut, i dont see it. briscoe would be a good choice imo
  9. yeah - i heard that he just sold house in b'burg and is now living somewhere up at claytor lake; so surely he won't move now.....guess we will see
  10. I'd agree GMAN...Mitchell and Salem are two of the best facilities in the area, and Grundy's fieldhouse is sweet...but with the new turf and new fieldhouse, RHS is definitely getting there....however, they do need something similar to mitchell/salem/abingdon type stadium seating to top it off
  11. nowhere in swva, as far as facilities alone...sorry, but nobody will have the facilities that richlands will have by next year...the turf and the brand new fieldhouse..beside the field - some people have nice fieldhouses, but they are out of the way in relation to the field....salem will be the closet school that has the facilities that r'lands will have...
  12. yep...they went right out and hired them off the street....the good ole vhsl has nothing to do with assigning officials....
  13. Yeah - Tebow may not deserve it b/c of the losses, but he is the best football player in the country - there has not been any other players that could do what he has done in the history of college fb, so that has to count for something...not to mention he takes a pounding in one of the most physical and toughest conferences in the country
  14. sorry - but tyrod would have not fared much better against LSU - because when you have the worst o line against the best d line....it doesn't matter, especially with the worst OC in the history of coaching. i do agree though - tyrod definitely gives them a better chance to not get sacked. but IF the o line gives time, glennon is a more accurate passer
