Amen Lance, we've missed the boat big time when we didn't send Huckabee into the election as the nominee. The Republican party seems to have a way though of sending the runner-up to be the nominee in the next go-around. There's still hope.

I think Obama will win this one hands down...don't think it will be within 10% when the time comes...but I think Huckabee could have won easily if people were given a chance to really understand what he was all about...thanks to the media though that never happened.

McCain must not be allowed to run the country though...Obama is the lesser of two crappy candidates.

On normal election years, key word there "normal", the democratic candidate is ahead by a large amount, we may be talking 10, 15 points or more, then the Republicans close the gap as November grows closer, even with President Bush.

However Obama has already lost his 8-10 point lead and is statistically tied right now, but like i said this is not a "normal" election year. If the election continues the momentum lately, we should see John McCain as President. However during this crazy year anything can happen and Obama may take office.

The one thing I will say about the polls. In the Dem. primaries, it seemed that if Obama was close in a poll he almost inevitably won the primary, usually pretty handily.

The reason for this, in my opinion, is that the pollsters generally ignore some parts of the population when doing their polls. For example, poor black neighborhoods, college campuses, and first time voters are usually under represented in most of the major polls. The reason for this? Well, most years these people don't vote in large numbers.

Obama in the primaries really got a huge turnout from these groups of people, and if the pollsters haven't started taking that into account, then I think McCain will need a solid 5 point lead in the polls leading up to election day to really think he has a good shot.

Also, FWIW I don't really care who wins this November....we're probably screwed either way.

The funny thing about the polls is that the numbers have not really changed...the media is manipulating the margin of error to make it look closer than it is...

McCain hasn't gained any ground...so it's not any closer than it ever was...the margin of error has gone from + or - 3% to + or - 12% and they have taken that 9% off of Obama's numbers...and he's still ahead lol...so don't buy in to this "close race" stuff...it's not as close as they would have you believe...Obama is clearly out front at this point.

Im sorry, but that is not correct. The Gallup Poll operates over 3 day periods and EVERY TIME has a +/- of 2%. The other polls you probably are talking about are from liberal newspapers such as the LA times...

Technically, McCain IS winning. How did i get there? Well Obama holds a 24 point lead in California still, which has 1/8th of the countries votes. Take that state away from numbers and McCain holds a lead over the statistical difference that is ALWAYS THE SAME.

Amen brother! We need a complete change. I'm afraid anyone from the Republican party will continue some of Bush's retarded moves. I will just be happy to have a President who can speak!

Then you should vote for McCain.

You may think im crazy for that statement, but im not. Obama's camp is struggling to keep Obama on the teleprompter because of his mishaps when he answers questions from the audience, such as how his uncle served in a liberation that never happened, Iran and its powers which seemed to have changed daily, and the fact that he calls out Sean Hannity 3 times in one week. Also his answers to the ever rapidly changing situation in Russia and Georgia has also shown his weakness off the telepromter as well as his inexperience where McCain handled the situation beautifully.

Not only does both sides of the media know this, but so does Obama's camp. He originally agreed to Town Hall meetings with McCain, originally 5, then 3, then now after the realization of his weakened skills off the prompt they said his schedule did not allow ANY meetings.

Will i tell you that John McCain is great off the prompter? no.

But he does speak 10 times better off the prompter than Bush and Obama. That is why McCain does so many town hall meetings, Q&A sessions, and excels when he hasnt had time to prepare for a specific situation.

But in my opinion, Im not terribly worried on how a president speaks, nor do I believe that i should be so shallow to base my vote on these things.

It's much better to base your vote on someones name.

Face it, the majority of Americans are dumb voters!

Some will vote AGAINST Obama for stupid things such as his name, other will vote FOR Obama just because celebrities are building him up as the next best thing since sliced bread. Either way, it reveals that we have some very dumb voters.

I certainly worry about how a president speaks. I would like to think that the man is smarter than me, but I honestly don't believe he is.

The President of the United States should be held to a higher standard than Joe Schmo from the local bar. I'd like to see what kind of shoes the man wears to see if they have velcro straps.
