buzzsawBeaver 12 Report Share Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) that's really sad, for the girl and her family especially, I hope the others are pulling through. So it was your friend that passed away beaverbaseball? Where is hooligans? I was on cumberland around 1 and at k mart then and didn't see any indication that anything had happened. BigBlueAlum 12 Report Share Posted October 31, 2008 I was told it wasnt her... lets not jump to conclusions and wait it out. We dont want anything false posted about deaths... It looks to me that BeaverBaseball meant to say "It isn't the girl I knew" instead of "its the girl I knew.", just based on the context of the rest of his statement. I could be wrong though, and I certainly don't mean to speak for him.
Guest BEAVERTAIL Report Share Posted October 31, 2008 I agree. But we dont really want to go on guessing about death, you know? its just not a good idea. Im gonna text beaverbaseball, should have done it awhile ago but obviously i wasnt thinking...

buzzsawBeaver 12 Report Share Posted October 31, 2008 Unfortunate it was anyone of course, as we were just posting about the other day about the wreck in tennessee, 1 wrong move driving and somone's not around who was healthy. Where is this place hooligans again though, just a question because I've always considered grassy branch a potentially dangerous road, and I'm on it from time to time, I'll bet it was a head on collision. Prayers for them all for certain.
Guest BEAVERTAIL Report Share Posted October 31, 2008 One of my good friends was hit on cliffmont(?) the road beside grassybranch as she was coming home from CU. A hit and run. Truly a dangerous location. Hopefully the families will make a full recovery and will grow from the loss. They are in my prayers.

bhs7695 185 Report Share Posted October 31, 2008 This it? Crash injures 7 By GREG JORDAN and CHARLES OWENS Bluefield Daily Telegraph BLUEFIELD — Seven people were injured Thursday after two vehicles collided near Bluefield. Units of two rescue squads and the Bluefield Fire Department were dispatched after a crash that ejected a person was reported approximately 4:40 p.m. along Grassy Branch Road. Rescuers had to extricate drivers and passengers from a Jeep with Virginia license plates and a red Chevrolet Cobalt with West Virginia registration. In all seven people were transported to local hospitals, according to Lt. D.A. Pennington. Pennington said two or three of the patients were airlifted from the scene of the accident. Pennington and Cpl J.T. Brooks of the Bluefield Police Department said four people were aboard the Jeep and another three were in the Cobalt. Personnel with the Bluefield, W.Va. Rescue Squad and the Bluefield, Va. Rescue Squad had to extricate people from both vehicles. At least one person was transported to a hospital outside the region by a helicopter ambulance that landed at the Kmart along nearby Cumberland Road. Pennington said the cause of the accident was still under investigation late Thursday. One witness on the scene said she was about to drive from her stepdaughter’s home when she saw the red car heading towards Princeton Avenue. The Cobalt spun and struck the Jeep, said Liz Neal, 32, of Bluefield. “All I could is scream 911, call 911,” Neal said. A Green Valley man who works at a nearby exterminator said vehicles frequently speed on Grassy Branch Road. “People fly up and down this road,” said Donald Wolford, 53. swva_fan 94 Report Share Posted October 31, 2008 I was going down 460 when that helicopter landed at K-mart. I had no idea what was going on. Very sad.
buzzsawBeaver 12 Report Share Posted October 31, 2008 what I thought, people speed along that road like it's some 55 mph road, very unfortunate.
GrahamPride 10 Report Share Posted October 31, 2008 I know one of the guys injured in this unfortunate accident. According to him, there was a male, female, and two children in the cobalt. The female and one child was killed. He was driving the Jeep and was traveling towards Cumberland Road when the Cobalt lost control and hit his vehicle. He said that the vehicle was going extremely fast. He is having severe back and leg pain now and is unable to walk. He has been to the ER twice since the accident and was told that the X-rays are not showing anything and he is having to see a specialist next week. Please keep those involved and their families in prayer.

Please keep those involved and their families in prayer. If he really wants to get better and find out what's going on he'll go to a doctor outside of this area. Healthcare in WV and Western Virginia is pathetic...

I just read on wvva.com where 4 of the people were in good condition, 2 are in stable condition, and one lady is in critical condition. Just want clarification. Healthcare in WV and Western Virginia is pathetic... Exactly correct. It's worth it to drive 3 hours to Wake Forest or 3 1/2 hours to UVA to get that quality of medical care. And my deepest sympathies to those affected by this awful accident.
GrahamPride 10 Report Share Posted November 2, 2008 My friend was just going by what he heard at the hospital. The woman did not die but is still in critical condition. Sorry for the misinformation.
