How can you overcome something that is out of your control? How can you control a player making a contested three point prayer? How can you control a very good free throw shooter to hit his free throws in the final seconds?? So it is what it is. Its the NCAA tournament, once again several coaches struggle to consistently making it past the first few rounds. PERIOD.

So basically you cant control how your team plays the entire, lets say 39 minutes before that? Even so, you start practice 6 months earlier for this reason. Preparation is everything in the last minutes.

OR

You could recruit smart players who know the game and how to play in the last minutes... It has been noted that Huggins has struggled at this before.

So every basketball game you expect to have a comfortable lead with one minute to play?

Also, once again you neglect what I said before. Who said they didn't know how to play? Did the player miss the free throws on purpose because he didn't know how to play? Did the Cincy player contest the Jarrod West 3 point prayer because it was the wrong thing to do??

You cant be serious. Look at what you are asking. Did he miss it on purpose? haha.

Comfortable lead? Nope. But during that time somewhere you should be able to control your players and lead them. The way you talk its the blind leading the blind.

You said they didn't know how to play in the final minutes. What does missing free throws and losing on a contested 3 point prayer have to do with not knowing how to play the game?

Seems like Crean had Marquette rolling in the American Conference, and it took some time to make it back to the middle of the pack in the big east. Either way, no one is calling Creen a great coach, and he has a along way to go before that. And now with Indiana he is in a deeper hole than ever.

So is taking things out of context. You sure you arent liberal? lol

All im saying, then and now, is that as a coach you can recruit players who know how to take over a game at the end or dont. Players all have different skills and weaknesses. I would rather have a smarter player at PG, than a more athletic one as a coach. And the above was one of 2 reasons I gave to control the game, once again you took it out of context. Why do teams with better backcourts win tourney games? They control the game in areas the coach can't at times. Never did I say the players dont know how to play, but some simply know how to win. And thats the goal isnt it?

The last 6 years:

Bob Huggins 4 NCAA Tournament wins.

Jamie Dixon 8* NCAA Tournament wins.

Its easy to be predictable when the obvious is in front of you.

*Pitt is still playing this year, so the number could be increased.

And Dixon still has a lot of first and second round exits. You can't justify your argument against Huggins if you are hyping Jamie Dixon just because he has a few more wins. He still has the early exits which you were bashing Huggins on. Try better next time.

You brought up Dixon, not me. I think he is a horrible tournament coach, and I never had any hype for him. Note the ETSU thread where I said they could lose in the first round, and they had not beaten a team above a 6 seed. You used him as an example as someone who was not a good coach in the NCAAs. Unfortunately for you it backfired because Dixon has twice as many wins in the last 6 years, with way less experiece. In my opinion, Dixon is a bad ncaa tournament coach. So is huggins, and if you consider Dixon one, Huggins has to be there as well.

Just so the people know what Huggins has done the past 12 years.

Second round or better except 03 and 09. Not bad....but does need another final four run.
