Don't kid yourself...from top to bottom, the SWD was one of the weakest districts in the state...

Cave had an off night when they played Graham...if they played 10 times, the margin of victory would be 20+ 7 of those 10 games...

off night?? were you even there? do you ever attend graham games? is there something about graham that makes you have to down-grade them every chance you get? for the longest time now i have read nothing but pure trash from you about graham. maybe the SWD is weak and maybe cave spring is better than graham. but it doesn't change the fact that for 4 qtrs graham which has a whopping 520 in the school, had the basketball powerhouse of the state against the wall. have you ever guarded a man 6'11? or tried to keep a man who is 2nd all time in 3-pointers behind a little guy named JJ Reddick? no, no you haven't. i dont remember cave throwing the ball out of bounds, or missing open shots. i dont remember cave having more fouls than graham. nor do i remember graham NOT turning the ball over and NOT forcing shots. but i do remember graham TAKEAWAYS not cave GIVEAWAYS. cave did not have an "off night", graham did not play their best either. lots and lots of bad mistakes made by graham that night. and still gave the state champs as much of a fight as anybody they played in the tournament. give a little credit where credit is due. i would put graham up against any of the final four teams that were at state. maybe you should change your name "GMAN" but no, youre just a fair-weather fan with nothing to say. youre not involved in the graham system. you dont know what goes on at that school. you dont know the kids that surrender their time and effort to make that school do great things. theres more to life than wins and losses. but if i was on a team that had half the enrollment of cave spring and knew they were favorites to repeat as state champs and still give them a fight they wont forget..that would be a win to me. but then again iam a true g-man. there's alot of them left. but youre not one of them.

I had several Cave Spring parents come up to me after the game and compliment our team. They went on and on how good we were and how they were lucky to get the win. My kid is on Facebook with Josh Henderson. Josh told my son we were a great team and one of the better teams they played this year.

Actually, I've got lots of things to say...

I'm a realist. I call it like I see it...WITHOUT wearing cardinal red and gold glasses...something others here should learn how to do. Then maybe, you would expect more from both the kids and coaches. But, I guess most of you are happy just being the TALLEST MIDGET.

If they were good, like they were in 1997-98, or even 2003-04, I would say so. However, they were not.

This was a "down" year for VA Class AA basketball, period. There were no outstanding teams like in years past. If there had been, Cave Spring would not have won the title again. Had it not been for two key injuries to Brunswick starters during the playoffs, they probably wouldn't have won this year.

However, to say Graham was one of the better teams in the state is just ludicrous. They were barely the third best team in Region IV, Division 3. This team would not have finished in the top half of the Blue Ridge District, nor the top two of the Piedmont District. They were slightly better than average, which was more than enough to win a weak district.

Like it or not, these are facts...

Tallest midget? I'm thinking that when you were at Graham you were probably the kid they pushed into the lockers. Cave beat us by what 11, 12, or 13 I can't remember but that doesn't matter were you even there to see that with 2 minutes left we were only down 3 and had the chance to close it to one or tie it but turned it over. "Like it or not, these are facts....."

The only fact that matters is Graham didn't win...end of discussion...

Going down to the defending state champions the way we did...I'll consider that a win and I'm still thinking you were the kid that was pushed into the lockers and ate by yourself in lunch. End of discussion.

And that's the problem with Graham athletics right there...accepting losing...

I'm still thinking you were the kid that was pushed into the lockers and ate by yourself in lunch.

And you're definitely wrong there...people used to crowd around my table just to watch me eat...I'm the only person in the history of Graham High School to spend $10/day when lunch was $.85...it was amazing to see me put away that much food in 20 minutes...

it's not avery friendly or diplomatic point, but he has a point. we'd all do well not to let it fly right over our heads. demanding excellence from yourself is the only way to get better. anything less is a failure. it might not sound like the easiest road, and that's because it isn't.

Accepting moral victories is for losers, no matter who you are. Period.
