Posted in today's July 8th Bristol Herald Courier:

Josh Smith's final act as a high school player turned out to be memorable.

The Twin Valley standout had 15 points and 14 rebounds and earned MVP honors for the West team in Tuesday night's Virginia High School Coaches Association boys basketball All-Star Game at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va.

The East posted a 98-73 victory.

"He came in the second quarter. We needed a spark and he gave us that spark," said recently-appointed Virginia High coach Wayne Rasnick, who served on the West coaching staff. "He's one of the best players that we had in our area and been that way for three years."

"They had the height advantage on us, but he used his strength to get a lot of boards."

Castlewood's Ruben Rasnick had two points and nine rebounds for the West.

Meanwhile, Smith showcased the skills that made him one of the Black Diamond District's most powerful post players.

"Anybody that can provide a spark like that in a game like that-he'll always remember it," Rasnick said.

Life has many choices---eternity two
