Lance 228 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 C'mon guys...play the game on Friday night so people that NEED to travel and play on Saturday can still see the game...there is no reason this game should be played on Saturday....I'd love to go see it, but if it's on Saturday I'll be on the road. Don't know if it's true, but that's what I heard....if so, guess I will be looking for a Friday night game.

Lance 228 Author Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 Why Saturday ? who knows? that's just the rumor i heard...and i hope it's not true. Heard that is when Honaker wants it.
rebel1 35 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 Would make more sense to play on Friday because with all the teams traveling Saturday it might bring in a bigger gate. But, I kinda hope it is Saturday because I have to work Friday night. lol
redtiger 1,742 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 Why Saturday ? So they can go scout their next opponent.
Ditto 10 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 Shouldn't they have already been scouting their potential playoff opponents?
redtiger 1,742 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 not really, too much could have changed dependint on last nights games. I mean they probably have taken a look at a couple of teams but it still doesent hurt to look at what they are doing in person the week before you play them(assuming Honaker wins). HokieHigh 10 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 I always thought is was the higher seeded team's choice.. (whether to play Friday night or Saturday)... until state semi-finals. Then the games would be played on Saturday.
VHSLhelper 571 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 always??? this is the 1st year of the system.
VHSLhelper 571 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 Shouldn't they have already been scouting their potential playoff opponents? seriously? it was impossible to guess who they'd play in Rd. 1. You think they have a dozen guys that can go to every possible opponent WHILE they're playing to get in? This ain't the NFL.
gridironguru 11 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 I like Saturday, play it in the day time give's the game a little more meaning to the kids. Last time these kids played on a Saturday this time of year they almost pulled it off. Go Rebels....
redtiger 1,742 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 (edited) Playing during the day was special, it meant something just to have the opportunity to play in the playoffs. Honaker for instance could have drawn Hurley, Honaker, Haysi or Eastside. Thats is they won, if they would have lost to Haysi then who knows! Haysi, Hurley, Castlewood, and TW may have all moved up a spot and Honaker could have fallen a spot or two Edited November 5, 2011 by redtiger
OrangeStreak 45 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 Every playoff game I can ever remember Honaker playing was on saturday ... i always wondered why they didnt play on fri night .... but i wouldnt expect them to change it because of a new system unless vhsl says they have to play on fri

I personally think they should all be played on Saturday from this point on.
Lance 228 Author Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 yeah lets all go to one game a week instead of two....makes sense to me.

Lance 228 Author Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 word is saturday as of now. figures...so who is playing Friday night? anyone semi-local?
Ditto 10 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 seriously? it was impossible to guess who they'd play in Rd. 1. You think they have a dozen guys that can go to every possible opponent WHILE they're playing to get in? This ain't the NFL. Look I know for a fact that Northside had people at the Honaker game Richlands played which was only like game 5 or 6, and Yes teams that are expecting to be in the playoffs and do well usually do a little scouting before the playoffs start, If they haven't then fine, I'm not losing any sleep either way but its odd how you act like it is unthinkable they would have been doing there homework a bit throughout the season. redtiger 1,742 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 Im sure that Honaker has had guys at some of the games the higher seeds have played but I doubt they have had anyone at the teams they could potientially play in the 2nd round.
BigD4VT 11 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 yeah lets all go to one game a week instead of two....makes sense to me. Lol, I understand your frustration wanting to see both the Grundy and Hurley games, but as someone else said, Honaker always plays on Saturday during the playoffs, which is why I was hoping things would line up right so I could cover them. There is nothing better than shooting playoff football during the day.

TigerValley 22 Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 Heard on the halftime show of Uva Wise, that if a team has to travel 3hrs game must be played on sat. Close by games can be played on sat if both team agree to do so.

1inStripes 933 Report Share Posted November 6, 2011 Rye Cove chose to play St. Paul around 03 or so on a Friday night instead of Saturday night for the first round of the playoffs.
