PLAYERS ANNOUNCED FOR 2011

SOUTHWEST/CENTRAL VIRGINIA ALL STAR CLASSIC

 

The executive coaches board of the Southwest/Central Virginia All-Star Classic have released the roster of players and coaches selected to participate in the 2011 All-Star Classic football game. The game will be held in Roanoke at William Fleming High School on June 24th with kickoff at 7pm.

 

The 2011 Southwest/Central Virginia All Star Classic will showcase outstanding senior players from the 2010 high school football season. During this week over 70 of the top high school seniors from the New River Valley, Roanoke, Lynchburg, Harrisonburg, Martinsville, Danville, South Boston and all points between, will meet in Roanoke to prepare to showcase their talents one last time in their high school careers. Participants include many players who received district, regional, state and even national honors. Most of these players will be attending and playing football at colleges across Virginia and the country during this coming year.

 

73 players from 41 high schools across the area will be represented at the game. They were nominated by their own head coach at their school and/or by coaches in their own districts and regions and selected by the Executive Coaches Committee of the All Star Classic. All of these players were recognized by multiple conferences and organizations as the top players in their areas and in the state.

 

The Head Coaches for the 2011 All Star Classic are David Tibbs, head coach at Robert E. Lee High School in Staunton and Chris Jones, head coach at Franklin County High School in Rocky Mount.

 

Assisting Coach Tibbs with the Central All Stars are Brad Bradley (Amelia High), Don Rice (Jefferson Forest High), Chris Watts (Liberty High), Frank Rocco (Liberty Christian) and Dave Close (Altavista High).

Assisting Coach Jones with the Southwest All Stars are Will Fields (Bath Co.), Jason White (Rockbridge Co.), Tim Fulton (Cave Spring High), Jay Gilbert (Bassett High) and Tim Cromer (Christiansburg High)

If the New River Valley is as far as you cover...you should rename your event...that isn't "Southwest" Virginia...

 

Typical! In the short time I have lived here, it seems as if a large portion of the state from, say, Radford east and north, think that is the ending of the state.
