Syracuse joins next Summer, getting the big NY market onboard

This thread should be edited to "Syracuse Gets Exit Date Pushed Up"...

Given the ND to ACC rumors, this is badly misleading. Anyone with a pulse knew Syracuse was coming. Just a question of when.

Is Pitt joining next summer too? Or will they have to wait until 2014?

ESPN was reporting at lunch that Pitt would also join in the fall of 2013 but has to wait until all of the formal paperwork is done to be officially announced.

Pitt reaches deal to pay BE $7.5 million to leave. They, too, will join in 2013.

Reaches a deal? From earlier reports (months back), $7.5 million is what they were supposed to pay to leave anyway...nice "deal" by the UPitt folks...of course, leaving the BE is a "deal" in and of itself...

Brings to mind two things I've said in the past:

(1) That UPitt would reach a deal of some sort.

(2) That UPitt gets a VERY overblown reputation as a brainy school. The administration isn't much different. It's like going to a car dealership, seeing the sticker price, asking the salesman for the price, the salesman quoting you the sticker price, and you agree, thinking it's a good deal.

  • 4 weeks later...

ACC gained two basketball schools. They are strengthening a weak in conference schedule. They now have 4 teams that can compete reguarly. VT will benefit from this if they can pick up a win against two of them and some other non conference games.
