hokies11 10 Report Share Posted August 12, 2012 Good luck to them! Always great to see a team from this area move on to higher levels of play, especially in a sport that doesn't get all the recognition that other sports do.
Bill-Lumbergh 10 Report Share Posted August 14, 2012 Those Michigan teams are always good... Guess them Michigan teams aren't that good. Honaker beat them pretty handily 5-0. Way to go Lady Tigers!!

trublue 939 Report Share Posted August 14, 2012 Bristol Herald Courier 8-14-12 http://www2.tricities.com/sports/2012/aug/14/local-briefs-honaker-wins-world-series-opener-ar-2129116/ Sarah Shelton and Megan Gray combined on a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts as Honaker opened play in the Junior League World Series in Washington with a 5-0 blanking of Escanaba, Mich., on Monday Honaker broke open a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning by pushing two runs across as Kianna Roman drew a bases-loaded walk that plated Gray and Tivanna Hubbard connected for an RBI single. Madison Musick had two hits for the winners, while Shelton scored two runs. That was all the offensive support Honaker’s pair of pitchers would need as Michigan managed just three baserunners the entire night. Richlands High School graduate and long-time local umpire James “Bucky†Dent was on the crew for the game. Honaker plays the host team from Kirkland, Wash., today at 5 p.m. (EST) in the event. Beamerball 566 Author Report Share Posted August 14, 2012 Honaker loses to Kirkland, 3-1. Next game Thursday against Layritz, Canada. A win probably gets then into the semifinals I'd say.
