Lance 228 Report Share Posted July 11, 2013 saw today that ETSU is getting a new 10,000 seat stadium...$18 million. why not just use the one at Freedom Hall that Science Hill has? They have to change out the mascot at mid-field due to a lawsuit anyway? I think it holds about 6500 people. it's cool and all that, I hate the mini-dome....but just seems like they could have just used the one at Freedom Hall for 5 or 6 games a year and put the money towards other parts of the program....improving the weight rooms, practice field, etc. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Someone sued them for using the mascot, they have a certain amount of time to remove it...don't remember when the deadline was...and they had to pay like a million bucks in damages/legal fees as well. I don't think the best pitch for recruiting is "we share a field and locker room with a high school team". The field sits next to Freedom Hall, its minutes from ETSU and it's a pretty nice facility. Unless ETSU is going to conference up to play some legit teams, recruiting is not going to be that great anyway. That seems ridiculous. Also it annoys the heck out of me that neither article had side-by-side comparisons of the logos. The first article gets points for having a pic of at least one logo....but then loses those points when they said "Jackson City" instead of Johnson City right at the beginning.
