Now, we all know that my Bearcats can (and have) completely cratered and fallen right on their face against Richlands, Gate City, and Lebanon, but I don't think we're getting much credit or respect, especially when we've played a far tougher schedule and beaten better opponents (Tazewell, Chilhowie, Abingdon, and Marion) than they have (J.I. Burton, Thomas Walker, Eastside, Wise-Central, Battle), plus, host the game. I think we win it 31-13, but if the Virginia High that played against Lebanon shows up, we lose 26-21. VA certainly has had the tougher schedule. Im not a big proponent of strength of schedule, as long as a team has been tested a couple of times then thats good enough imo. The reason I picked Lee is because it seems like VA has slipped as the season went on and has kinda been up and down, as where Lee seems to be getting stronger. Maybe its just perception. Lee's got to have that great line play like they did last week and grind it out on the ground again, and have that defense step up like it did. With Battle giving up as much rushing as they did the past few games, that played right to their strength. The real surprise was the defensive play from Lee. And how many injuries did Battle really have going into the Lee game? Sounded like they only had a couple, with one being a starter. Matney and Harlow went down in the 2nd half of the game with Lee. Yeah, the Lebanon loss wasn't our best game, but the only other loss in the last four games was @Gate City, in a closer than the score indicated game. The two wins were against a good Chilhowie team, and @Abingdon. The Battle/Tennessee High/Richlands stretch of the year was our worst football of the season. For me atleast it seems as though this was the year VA High was supposed to finally have some success. Right now VA high is a 5 loss team, Abingdon and Chilhowie are good teams but those wins arent that impressive. Not to mention Lee won easily over Battle, a team that Va lost to(even though Battle has suffered alot of injuries and isint the team they were early in the season). Don't see anything special about Lebanon's schedule either. Lee's played 4 of the same teams Lebanon has, plus Lebanon has played Castewood, a team that lost to Thomas Walker. Don't see Virginia High's as much more than Lee's....and I say all that in my thinking that Lee's is fairly weak and much more watered down than what most Lee teams have played in the past.
