87Tiger 62 Report Share Posted August 18, 2016 First regular season games tomorrow. My team, Cherokee, plays at North Cobb (Kennesaw). They have four D-1 prospects. One has committed to Auburn. Could be a tough opening game. GMan

Deleted Account 5,203 Report Share Posted August 19, 2016 I saw some excellent football when I was in Southern PA. The local powerhouse was Cumberland Valley. Lost 2 state title games, and lost a 3rd two years back. Would be the 4th largest high school in VA if you could move it 100 miles south. JDHoss 249 Report Share Posted August 20, 2016 Been to games at Camden Co. and at Valdosta. Both were real eye openers in terms of the amount of talent on the field and the facilities. 87Tiger

JDHoss 249 Report Share Posted August 22, 2016 Valdosta is first high school program to 900 wins after Winnersville Classic rout By Cam Smith, USA TODAY High School Sports August 19, 2016 http://usatodayhss.com/2016/valdosta-is-first-high-school-program-to-900-wins-after-winnersville-classic-rout I got a personal tour of the Valdosta facilities from a customer I was visiting who used to play for them. Their field house was a combination locker room, weight room, training room and museum that the average FCS team would be glad to have. Dawgs4Life 11 Report Share Posted August 25, 2016 I retired in 2007 from Moody AFB, which is located in Valdosta, and was a Wildcat supporter while there. That program is finally starting to gain ground again as they may have settled on a coach. I was there from 2000-07 and while there they went through about 3 coaches in that time frame. One of the best games I watched was the 2003 state championship they played vs. Camden County, who was coached at that time by Gate City native Jeff Herron. He's a legend in GA. I've lived in several states to include the big 3 (CA, FL and TX) which are considered recruiting hot beds, I'd have to say Texas is king! From the fans, to the players, to the facilities, they do it big in TX! But growing up in SW VA, I'd still take our football any day.
