footballfan08 11 Report Share Posted February 9, 2017 Got a question about the Hogoheegee District..I know that John Stewart Battle & Lebanon were both members of the district and Left in 2007, but were there any other schools (not currently in the Hogo) that were once in the District? I was thinking Castlewood H.S. - maybe Honaker might have been members at one time.
RichlandsAlum 678 Report Share Posted February 9, 2017 Got a question about the Hogoheegee District..I know that John Stewart Battle & Lebanon were both members of the district and Left in 2007, but were there any other schools (not currently in the Hogo) that were once in the District? I was thinking Castlewood H.S. - maybe Honaker might have been members at one time. On an anecdotal basis I can confirm that Honaker and Castlewood were both members as of the 1982-1983 school year. Our middle school basketball team played Castlewood that year and they had a mural depicting "Hogoheegee Competition" displayed in the lobby of the gym. After some further digging, it was posted elsewhere on this site that Honaker was a member of the Hogoheegee from 1978 to 1988. Not sure about the tenure of Castlewood's membership. They played Chilhowie in the first year of VHSL's 1970 realignment. Not sure if that was because they were within the same district or because they had to scramble to fill respective schedules. Chappy 72 Report Share Posted February 13, 2017 During the mid 90's the HOGO had a 9 team district. Patrick Henry, Holston, John S. Battle, Castlewood, Lebanon, Northwood, chilhowie, Rural Retreat, & George Wythe. Hogo Sports can confirm, (I really wish he hadn't shut down Hogoonline) but I think the original lineup of the HOGO in 1970 was Rich Valley, Saltville, Chilhowie, Honaker, Rural Retreat. Castlewood joined in 1978. Lebanon has come in and out several times. The 87-88 year saw Rich Valley and Saltville combine to form Northwood, Honaker leave and Patrick Henry drop from AA and join. blueinbama and redtiger
SPORTSBEAST 0 Report Share Posted August 21, 2017 Any idea where I can find a listing of the District football champions from the Hogoheegee District from the beginning of the district to now?

Not sure now. Hogo Sports had a site that was dedicated to the Hogo, but it has since been shut down. I will look and see what I can find.
