I would not hold your breath on that one. Smyth county base teacher pay is lower than surrounding counties. You almost have to coach multiple sports to make up the difference

Teacher pay in Smyth County has gone up significantly in recent years. Top of the scale is over $70,000 yearly. Not many counties can match that. Bottom of the scale is a different story. That is where improvement could draw in beginning teachers.

Washington County is based on a percentage of compensation from your 200-day contract. Non-contracted employees use a percentage of the starting salary ($45,411)

Head Coaches: 11% for Football; 9% for BBBall, GBBall; 8% for Baseball, Softball,  VBall, Outdoor, Wrestling, Swim, Soccer, CC; 7% for Indoor, Tennis, Cheer

Assistants Coaches: 7% for Football, 6% for BBBall, GBBall; 5% for Baseball, Softball, VBall, Outdoor, Wrestling, Swim, Soccer, CC; Cheer; 4% for Indoor, Cheer

Most of the public schools in Florida are terrible, unless they are supplemented by a booster club. The head coach at Boca Raton got a $1K raise to go from assistant to head coach this year. FAU coach Tom Herman said in an article this week that he couldn't believe how poorly these guys are paid.
