Well the regular season is over and what an odd regular season it was, with multiple teams missing games due to weather. The Big 3, in 4A all are legitimate state title contenders ( Greeneville, Elizabethton and Anderson County) and will eliminate each other by the semi-final round. I will focus on the local teams and will update it weekly until the "locals" are gone!

In 1A. Cloudland (6-4) hosts Greenback (4-6) on Roan Mountain the other side of the bracket has the Huskies of North Greene (4-6) travels to Oliver Springs (7-3) and the other 1A team Unaka (2-8) plays it's last game of the year at Coalfield.

In 2A. Polk County (4-6) makes the 3 1/2 hour bus trip to Hampton (8-2), the winner plays the winner of South Greene (8-2) @ Bledsoe County (8-2) and the other Region 1 team Happy Valley (7-3) hosts Oneida (7-3).

In 3A: Johnson County (6-4) takes the long trip to Kingston (7-3), Austin East (3-7) makes the drive to beautiful Erwin to take on Unicoi County (7-3) and Chuckey-Doak (6-4) make the ill-fated drive to Alcoa (9-1)! Maybe the team could just Blacksburg Alcoa and take the Alligent Flight to Sanford, FL for the weekend!

In 4A: The Bareknuckle Cage Fight is about to throw down! Greeneville (8-0) takes on Fulton (2-8), Elizabethton (8-1) takes on Carter (6-4), and Sullivan East (6-4) travels to Anderson County (6-4). If Betsy' and AC win then the Cyclones travel to AC next week.

In 5A: Tennessee High (7-3) hosts Powell (7-3) and Boone becomes the Sacrificial Lamb for Knox West (9-1)

In 6A: Dobyns Bennett (5-4) makes their first road exit at Bearden (7-3) and Science Hill (7-3) hosts Maryville (6-4) at Kermit Tipton Stadium in Johnson City and finally in 6A West Ridge (5-4) gets the long ride to Bradley Central (10-0 to visit Tennessee Commit Boo Carter!

Round one is in the books and the pickins as they say are slim! No region one teams survived in 1A, 3A, 5A and with exception of Jefferson County in 6A.

The 9-2 Hampton Bulldogs host the Warriors of Bledsoe County (9-2) (Pikeville, TN.)  in Hampton Friday night and the winner gets to host the quarterfinal round next week against the Fighting Alvin Yorks of York Institute and Oneida! 2A is probably the most wide open of all the classes in Tennessee.

In 4A: Gibbs (9-2) makes the trip to Burley Stadium In Greeneville to play the 9-0 Greene Devils. Gibbs won an overtime thriller verses Northview Academy (Kodak, TN.) 28-27 and Greeneville won 48-14 over Fulton, the other side of the bracket has one of the most anticipated games of the week ,in any class, as Elizabethton a 38-0 winner over Knox Carter playing in Clinton against the Mavericks of Anderson County a 49-0 winner over Sullivan East!  The winners meet in the quarterfinal round in week 3 of the playoffs.

I will include Jefferson County in the post because they are technically in Region 1. The Patriots have has a massive turn around thanks to Spencer Riley who played guard at Tennessee in the late 90's and was a member of the 1998 National Championship team. Riley is a O-Line and TE guru and his team just lines up and mauls you! Jefferson County (10-1) hosts Bearden (8-3) and the winner gets the Maryville (7-4) versus Bradley Central (11-0) ...good luck stopping Boo Carter in that game!

Get out and go to a game, the kids need your support and the TSSAA needs your money!

Im on vacation in Tennessee and thinking about attending East Robertson at Marion County... U know anything about these schools? Good game possibly?

Marion County is 11-0 and East Robertson is 10-1, these are the best two teams in the east in 2A. The winner of this game should go to Chattanooga to the Championship Game. East Robertson has freaky athletes but are very undisciplined, and Marion County has a ton of athletes too.! If you are going to go see a game go see this one!

Well it's the quarterfinal round this weekend. There are two local teams left in 2A Hampton which won an instant classic over Bledsoe County 36-31. In 4A Greeneville dominated 9-2 Gibbs 42-0 and Elizabethton lost to Anderson County 21-7.

So here are the quarterfinal matches in all the brackets.

In 1A: Oliver Springs (9-3) hosts Coalfield (11-1) the winner hosts the winner of South Pittsburg (12-0) vs. Gordonsville (8-4) the other side of the bracket Moore County (12-0) hosts McKenzie (11-1) and the winner of that game hosts the winner of Dresden (12-0) & Union City 9-3

     I like a South Pittsburg-Moore County final

In 2A: Hampton (10-2) hosts the Dragons of York Institute (12-0) the winner hosts the winner of Smith County (10-2) and East Robertson (11-1) in the west Riverside (10-2) hosts Huntingdon (11-1) and Mitchell (11-1) hosts Fairley (10-2).

I like East Robertson vs. Huntingdon final

In 3A: It doesn't matter Alcoa will win their 9th straight title I like East Nashville to come out of the west.

In 4A: Greenville (10-0) hosts Anderson County (8-4), this will be the game of the night in the TSSAA playoffs, the winner hosts the winner of Upperman (12-0) @ Macon County (11-1). the west bracket has Marshall County (10-2) travelling to Nashville to play Pearl Cohn (Cone)

12-0. The Tomcats of Haywood (10-2) host Dyer County (7-5). This is the best bracket in the state and any of 7 of these 8 teams can win the title I like the winner of AC/ Greeneville and Pearl Cohn title game.

In 5A: Powell (9-3) hosts Knox West (11-1) and the winner host the surprise Clinton (6-6) and Walker Valley (10-2) in  the west . Centennial (10-2) hosts Page (11-1) the winner hosts perennial playoff team Henry County (11-1) and upstart Southwind (12-0).

I like a Knox West/ Henry County final.

In 6A: Bradley Central (12-0) travels to Bearden (8-3) and Riverdale (9-3) hosts Oakland (10-2) in the battle of Murfreesboro! The west has Ravenwood (9-3) hosts Brentwood (12-0) and in the Battle of Germantown. Germantown (12-0) travels across town to Houston (10-2).

           I like a Oakland/Germantown final

The title games are generally on one of the local stations out of the Tri-Cities and you get the whole series both days, or it may be 3 days. I want to say it is on the CW usually but do not hold me to that.

They broadcast all the games on the CW. The Division 2 games are Thursday November 30th starting at 11:00am, 3:00pm and 7:00pm. Friday Has 1A, 3A and 5A. Saturday 2A, 4A and 6A.

Which site sells the mobile tickets for the Greeneville game? We're back in Kingsport and hope to go there on Friday and to BSG on Saturday. For that matter, who sells the VHSL tickets?

Gofan sells tickets on line. Go to the TSSAA web site under Playoff Headquarters and scroll down to the game you want to buy tickets for. I hope you get to both of the games should be fun.
