Last night in Vero Beach was a surprisingly sparse crowd. I guess the 72 degree temperature at kickoff kept people away, and it plummeted to 70 by the end of the game.

What horrible playing conditions! 😂

Miramar out of Miami @ Atlantic in Delray Beach in the 2nd round of the FHSAA Class 5A playoffs. Temperature is 69 and people are bundled up like it’s in the low 30’s. Absolutely pitiful crowd on hand. I’d guess there might be 300 people here total. We didn’t get here until halfway through the 2nd quarter after battling I-95 traffic for two hours and forty five minutes to drive 62 miles because of two accidents. 🤬

Atlantic short TD run set up by a 45 yard bomb with an NFL highlight worthy catch by a kid who laid out completely horizontal, caught it with his hands and somehow held onto it.

Just a heads-up. High for Bluefield on Saturday is 31 as of now. Better not bring the flip-flops. Lol

Wholly crap. The temperature in Delray Beach had plummeted to 64 by the end of the game and my teeth were chattering. I'll have to check my winter clothes stored at my in-laws in Kingsport, but I may have to go shopping.

A couple of side notes:

* We’ve been to Doc Phillips before. It’s a really nice facility and from the looks of the parking lot when we were there, pretty affluent as well.

* It’s next to Universal Studios, and late in the 3rd or early in the 4th, they will stop play when the nightly fireworks show at Universal Studios starts.

* Last week, Vero used a 96 yard kickoff return for a TD with a minute to go to upset Palm Beach Central 21-20.

Doc Phillips caps a 96 yard drive with a 17 yard TD pass. They have a MASSIVE offensive line for high school. Vero is badly overmatched up front.

Vero had a chance to cut it to 14-7 but turned it over on downs at the 5. They forced a punt and took over at their own 20, but a quick 3 & out led to a punt and a 50 yard TD drive capped by a 27 yard TD pass. The Doc Phillips QB is committed to MTSU. He’s a thick 6’2 208 and a pretty decent athlete.

I thought you were going to be in Bluefield tomorrow?

I’m at my in-laws in Kingsport. I watched the game on NHSF. Not sure if I’m going to Bluefield tomorrow, though. A high of 32 and windy isn’t good for an old man’s health. 🤔
