I must say, i am rooting for VT this game.I cant stand them, but i really want to see georiga lose to a WV/VA school 2 years in a row. Sean Glennon must have missed getting "hate" mail in recent weeks b/c he's done a great job to start it flowing again. Tech could have a special season next year, but not if Glennon is the QB... We may never see them again after tonight [/ QUOTE ] Tech had the all maroon look againist UVA in the last game of the year. Few things from the game: 1. UGa D-line ate up the Hokie O-Line all night long. No run game, Ore didnt even have 50 yards rushing. The tackles for Tech didn't block a defensive end the entire 4th quarter on pass plays. Duane Brown gets this hype about being a big pro prospect, but i still believe he is average at best. He didn't even come out of his stance the last two plays of the game. 2. I feel like Tech got a little bit out coached in the 2nd half. Bobo was running anything and everything againist the Hokie defense and it was working perfectly. Beamer got his lead at halftime and they went into their shell trying to protect the lead instead of going for the throat early in the 3rd. The onside kick worked perfectly for Georgia and we never recovered after that. 3. Last, but not least, Sean Glennon is still the starting QB at Virginia Tech. Can Tyrod Taylor get here any sooner?? dawgs05 10 Report Share Posted December 31, 2006 Its funny to see VT lose......I mean, I wish they could win a significant bowl game at some point in their history but to see them lose is priceless! My advice to Beamer is to let Glennon go or just start someone else.....But i give Beamer credit for trying to play football the right way this year..but after the disapointing bowl loss, i guess its back to "thugs, drugs, and doing anything to win" for the hokies next year! dcecilgolf 11 Report Share Posted December 31, 2006 Thoughts from the game (I was there so I probably missed a lot of stuff) in no particular order. 1. VT's defense is still pretty damn good, sure they gave up 31 points, but it was always when UGA had a short field 2. UGA's kicker has got a leg like no other, the 51 yard FG must have been like a chip shot for him. Pre-game he was making them from 60 yards with ease. 3. Sean Glennon is not that bad of a QB, he can't run, but give him time and he is very accurate. 4. VT's O-line sucks, bottom line. Last drive UGA was only rushing 3 guys and they still were getting pressure on Glennon. 5. Referees seemed to do a pretty good job, although I missed a lot of the personal foul calls. 6. VT's fans traveled well, like always, but UGA definitely had more fans. It was like a home game for them. 7. Strafford (sp), the QB for UGA, is not as bad as ESPN made him out to be. I believe he is a freshman, but in a few years he will be an awesome player. 8. VT's D-line needs to get more sacks/pressure on the QB. 9. GHS06 10 Report Share Posted January 1, 2007 i don't know what happened in that second half. its like all the virginia tech people went on the rag at halftime, not just the football team. can anyone recall a worse half for the VT football team? sean glennon is terrible. the end. the o-line has nothing to do with it. even when he had time, he couldn't do anything. he ran for one first down and that was the highlight of his game. eddie royal could play qb better and i wish that was a joke. i knew georgia's d was good, but i didn't think they could hold ore to 2 yards a carry. a little side story, a few elder hokie fans were upset because they had to stand up to see the game in the STUDENT SECTION. one student had a hat with a large turkey on it. a lady grabbed the hat and refused to give it back. even with everyone around screaming at the lady to give it back, she wouldn't. someone got security and the hat was finally given back. i have never seen an adult act so childish in my life. i thought hokie fans were a LITTLE more courteous. i mean HOKIE RESPECT is preached at home games and we don't even respect each other. i got barked at enough after that game to last a lifetime. I saw a bunch of VT fans act like jerks to UGA in the 1st half because VT was winning. I also never saw any UGA fans be jerks to VT fans, although I am sure there were some incidents. norseman 10 Report Share Posted January 2, 2007 yes, Glennon WAS awful but by far not the sole reason for this butt-kicking. the face-mask personal foul on c. powell on UGA's first drive of the 2nd half started the downhill slide. personal foul penalties seem to go hand-in-hand with tech FB. how about this super defense? who decided NOT to bother covering UGA's tight end while he was catching td's and 2 pt conversions? no pass rush, no coverage in the secondary, are we sure Foster is the genius we give him credit to be? Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted January 2, 2007 There a number of reasons Tech lost the game, but the bottomline is that the defense and special teams carried the offense the ENTIRE season. I'm sure by the second half the defense was dead tired, especially after Glennon and the offense kept turning the ball over. Tech ran what, 3 offensive plays in the third quarter? There is no doubt the offensive line struggled throughout the season, but they did a better job for the most part with pass protection on Saturday night. However, watch the game film and you'll see even when he had time Glennon was dancing around in the pocket like he was about to piss himself. And you cannot run the football when the defense is putting 8 or 9 in the box to stop the run and the QB is no threat to beat you with his arm. Tech had a top 10 caliber defense and special teams in 2006, but a WVIAC caliber offense. Tech returns a ton of talent on both sides of the ball next fall and there's no reason they cannot at least win the ACC. However, unless something changes on the offensive side of the ball the Hokies will underachieve. They have the running backs, the receivers, and an improving offensive line.
