djr4hurleyfb 12 Report Share Posted November 1, 2004 The Hurley/Twin Valley matchup is quite interesting. For starters, this is a rivalry game. The intensity of the old Hurley/Garden games wasn't there before (last year, TV was at there lowest point; the two years before that, Hurley had hit rock bottom), but this year, the intensity will return. Both teams come in almost evenly matched, and playoff positions will be completely determined for both this Friday night. Both teams played common opponents nearly the same way: Haysi: Hurley played good for two quarters defensively, TV got mauled. Honaker: Neither did too well, but still a step or two better than there efforts versus Haysi. Montcalm: Hurley won pretty handily; TV had to comeback in the 2nd half and hold off a late surge. Ervington: TV won convincingly; Hurley had to comeback in the 2nd half and hold off a late surge. Big Creek: TV shutout the Owls; Hurley got smacked in the teeth. Everything sounds pretty much the same, except Hurley played better versus Haysi and TV was able to beat Big Creek. Both teams have a lot to lose. If Twin Valley loses, they will have to keep there fingers crossed for the 4 Seed. Of course, they might rather skip the playoffs than go as a 4 Seed (I'm certain they don't want a re-match with JI Burton, the likely 1 Seed). A TV win and they are guaranteed a 3 Seed, and a likely trip to Twin Springs. Hurley is still in the running for the 2 Seed, needing a win here and Twin Springs to lose (I think a couple of other "Gimme" point games need to swing in Hurley favor too). However, a Hurley loss most likely sends them to Burton. My prediction: Hurley 12 Twin Valley 8 I could be wrong, but I see this being a low scoring affair. Playoff prediction: Seed 1 JI Burton hosting Seed 4 Twin Valley Seed 2 Twin Springs hosting Seed 3 Hurley
DMan 10 Report Share Posted November 1, 2004 [ QUOTE ] Carroll-24 Graham-14 Carroll is hungry for a win after losing two straight and we are looking for payback for messing up our undefeated season last year. [/ QUOTE ] I'm thinking that I might agree with that prediction, since Bradshaw was there last year, and especially of course, the game is at CC. Just havin' a little fun, don't let my remarks get you riled up. EDIT: Don't know how I overlooked it, but I just noticed the "Grundy-28 Virginia high 31 in ot" prediction. I'd laugh but I almost feel sorry for the bitterness in that prediction. I said ALMOST.

chump 11 Report Share Posted November 1, 2004 tazewell wont really be able to pull it off on friday. honaker has a great team. tazewell has really improved but after the grundy game they got a lot of ppl out for friday. i dont really think that they will be able to pull it off. honaker isnt the same they use to be when they had miller and several others. this game will be close for a little while but honaker will come with winning attitudes. if they are behind at half time they come out ready to kill on the second half. maybe tazewell will suprise us all. Lance 228 Report Share Posted November 2, 2004 make no mistake about it, tazewell will give Honaker everything they want and then some. They played Grundy more physical than anyone else has this year...they are a hard hitting football team. Honaker better be ready to go to war, Tazewell doesn't have that many people hurt, don't be fooled.
clodhopper 10 Report Share Posted November 2, 2004 Tazewell has a physical defense and a very good running game, the passing game is a little weak. Honaker is in the same boat as Lebanon, they have too many players going on defense and offense. My heart will pull for Honaker but my head says Tazewell. Tazewell is a considerably better team than last year and their coach has them believeing in themselves. If Honaker goes in this game cocky, they'll drive home wondering what just hit'em. chump 11 Report Share Posted November 2, 2004 tazewell may pull it off. honaker wont come into the game cocky. they have waited all season for this game. i know a lot of ppl from there and they have a great team. and the same for tazewell. but honaker is tall. tazewell is short. both teams have fast players but tall will have a better advantage. honaker can glide for a mile. thats no joke. ive seen them play. to be honest a lot of ppl under estimate honaker. they can fool anyone. tazewell can to but i really think honaker will pull it of. i wish both teams luck. clodhopper 10 Report Share Posted November 2, 2004 Oh, I was'nt trying to say Honaker could'nt win, not at all, they stand a good chance. I'm just saying that Tazewell is a good football team, as is Honaker.
chump 11 Report Share Posted November 2, 2004 YOU ARE RIGHTN. BOTH TEAMS ARE GOOD. BUT HONAKER HAS HAD A GOOD TEAM FOR A WHILE. TAZEWELL IS JUST GETTIN STARTED. THEY HAVENT HAD A GOOD TEAM IN A WHILE. I JUST THINK THAT IT WILL BE A LOT HAREDER FOR TAZEWELL TO WIN AGAINST THEM.
