  1. Emory led all of D3 in attendance for something like 10 years from the early 90's through the early 00's. and that doesn't even count atleast a third of the people who never actually make it into the game! interesting sidenote: I didn't see it with my own two eyes, but everybody said Emory was mentioned on Sportscenter during the 2001 season for taking over the longest home win streak in the nation at 45 games after a Nebraska loss that gave us the record.
  2. Congrats to Brandon Castle and Chase Owens. That is an impressive win for Chase...i hope it carries over to state!
  3. Lebanon is not a step behind GC or VH. Lebanon was pretty evenly matched last year with Honaker and Tazewell...two teams that both beat VH. It will be those three competing for the district. GC played in Bristol last year, but they might do a back to back with the new district. I believe VH will have a good team next year, if they can replace some skill positions. the line will be the best it has been in a few years. Don't sleep on Lee either....they've been playing a LOT of underclassmen the last couple years.
  4. Lebanon 26 George Wythe 21 GW scored twice in the 4th to take 1 point lead with like 10 seconds left. time for one play after the kick. Fake reverse 80 yards for the game winner. don't think there even was an extra point try. It came back around on Lebanon two weeks later. missed a 2 point conversion with under a minute left to lose 34-33 to T. Jones and the PV boys. The best high school game in my memory.
  5. I just wanted to Congratulate Richlands on runnin' through Region 4 like crap through a goose this year. And wish you men the best of luck tomorrow! We are all rootin' for you guys to bring one back home to swva. Here's to playin' the perfect game tomorrow. Hammer them.
  6. that schedule for next year absolutely sucks. I guess we just gave up on beating the swd to pad our record against chilhowie and play a team with no tradition in sullivan central. I hate this schedule. and by way, tenn high and S.C. are size of AA schools in Va. we get AA power points for them. and another thing, I was at the JF/Gate City game of 97 and GC beat them all over the field. It should of never came down to the field goal. yardage was ridiculous in GC favor. I will agree that the team wasn't as good as the team of 96 that lost to Brookville/Lomax On this topic, Go Bengals....that's pretty close to a bearcat!
  7. I hate to see this series end. After takin' a break for a few years to let the hitting spill back onto the field, It's been all Richlands all 3 times they've played after Lebanon dominated this series in the 90's (except the '92 fumble fest). I got to watch this game last year and Lebanon had over 200 yards rushing and had a couple long first half drives stall inside the 10. I think they'll be in it. within 40 anyway. There's always some hard hittin' in this one. I gotta give Coach Mance some credit. He has really separated Richlands from the rest of the pack in swva. He's done a really good job there i think.
  8. Those uniforms are my favorite combo they wear. they earned back the national respect they had lost last night. I loved the swarming defense. No gettin' ran over and tryin' to catch backs as they run by.(except Rouse) Hokie nation has got to pull for Miami tonight. If they win, and we beat them, we'll be in the driver's seat.
  9. was it supposed to say 35?
  10. I think Graham's size combined with the weather gives them the advantage in this game. The Bearcats are a little light in the *ss up front. These two teams have more speed than about any other teams in swva, but gotta give the g-men the nod in the trenches. look at last year. I know from where i was standin' it felt like they ran for 800 yards that game. it gave me a headache. If the weather is not too bad, i think it will go down like last year. Va High will put some points on the board, but they won't be able to stop Graham. Va High - 21 Graham - 35 Now. I'd like to see the 'cats go out there and prove me and everybody else wrong and earn back a little respect like them Hokies did last night. Gobble Gobble. All we need is Adibi. Keep an eye on Shaka Andrew playin' linebacker tonight for vhs. he's a sophomore playin' for the first time this year and he's startin' to really come on. the paper said he had 25 tackles against honaker two weeks ago. Him and White gotta step it up tonight!
  11. Sounds to me like Scammell's got the blue devils on track. That's no small feat. They've been horrible since the Talford days. Good to see a young head coach from the area doin' good. I can see them havin' a good defense, cause i'm bettin' if there's one thing a scammell coached team can do...it's Hit people!
  12. Nope. The bearcats win and secure a rematch at tazewell in the first round. I think Messer makes sure some points go up on the board.
  13. tazewell over graham means they can match up just as good. heck, they beat you. carrol over tazewell, abingdon over carrol, vhs over abingdon....i guess that means we all can "match up" against r-lands about the same. not to freakin' good. It seems to me that this year in far swva AA has 1 team in Richlands at the top head and shoulders above everybody else and two at the bottom in Grundy and Lee that are a little further behind than the rest right now. All the rest are pretty close in talent and it's just which team plays with intensity and execution from week to week. People will forget that the last time Richlands played at vhs the score was tied with like 6 minutes to go and vhs actually led 21-14 in the third. I don't think this bearcat squad is as physical as that one, so i'm gonna say Richlands 42 VHS 14
  14. "Yeah it may be 2 wins but it was the first in 4 years!!!" sorry bud, That's only true if you say regular season. and you didn't.
  15. how can a team not be ready to play when they are the Homecoming game for the team that knocked them out of the region championship two years ago and then shut them out last year? I seriously doubt they were not ready to play in that one. Just gotta give Tazewell some credit for playing a better ballgame that night. And work some this week on Holdin' on to the freakin' football. They were good, and we gave them more than enough help. can't do that this week, especially AT Honaker. Some of the boys from Bristol have never played over on the coal-dust laced fuller field. It's a little different from ole' Gene Malcolm. Good luck to the Bearcats this friday!
